This is a completely handwritten guide. Any item / collectable you need can be found by using CTRL + F and entering what you're looking for in the text box.

Everything except key items and shrine waypoints carry over to NG+.

This game makes backup saves every hour and every day.

To load a backup, follow this path:
Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BlackMythWukong\b1\Saved\SaveGames\7656..
Make a new folder on your desktop and move the three files ending in .sav to it for safe keeping.

Then go to:

Tips for getting all achievements:

Explore and do everything as you progress. Defeat powerful enemies for their spirits, collect all plants for seeds, find as many shrines as you can, explore to get gourds, etc. The more you do as you play the less you'll have to clean up at the end of the game.

Follow the sections "Achievements in Order". They will lead you through all achievements, side quests, missable collectables, and more.

The "About 2" playthroughs is if you do all side areas and optional bosses in both playthroughs. For example, you need 8 Samadhi Fire Crystals from Chapter 5 to make all weapons and armor but only get 4 per playthrough. If you missed the secret area during your first playthrough, you'll have to make it to Chapter 5 in NG++ to get the materials. So you need just under 2 full playthoughs if you do everything but it can be 3+ if only doing side content once.

Only level up your starting gourd as it's needed for an achievement.

Achievements in Order: Chapter 1

Non story related achievements you can collect while progressing through the game. I've also included spark locations, health, mana, and stamina upgrades so you can collect them too.

Health = Health Upgrade

Spark = Spark Meditation Pillow (Skill Point)

Skandha: Forest of Wolves: Front Hill - Progress forward past the bridge and jump into the river to your left. At the end is a statue you can examine for an item needed later in the game.

Hammer and Hew
Armed head to toe, dread not the foe.


Craft any item at a Shrine. This ability is unlocked early in the game.

Spark: Forest of Wolves: Outside the Forest - Backtrack down the stairs and through the cave entrance, the pillow is lying in the hut.

Bell 1: Forest of Wolves: Outside the Forest - From the shrine, follow the path and go left. Proceed forward, over the bridge, and into the boss arena just past it. Defeat Guangzhi and ring the bell in his arena.

Health: Forest of Wolves: Guanyin Temple - After defeating Lingxuzi, the health upgrade is in the temple nearby.

Spark + Horse: Bamboo Grove: Back Hills - After defeating Lingxuzi and activating the shrine, continue down the path until you encounter some enemies. Take a hidden path to your left and you'll find a friendly NPC and a meditation point. Make sure to speak with the NPC as he is missable.

Absorb and Cultivate
Consume those who had consumed.


Bamboo Grove: Snake Trail - Up the stairs to the right is an NPC who will upgrade your gourd. Use it after defeating a boss to absorb their power.

Frog: Bamboo Grove: Snake Trail - Walk through the building behind you and jump into the river. Take a left and defeat the boss. Six frog bosses are needed for an achievement.

Bell 2: Bamboo Grove: Marsh of White Mist - Ring the bell after defeating Guangmou. This boss is unmissable.

Brew of Bravery
Fresh brew in an old cask. May it stir a great task!


Bamboo Grove: Marsh of White Mist - After defeating Guangmou, continue past the shrine and defeat the lone snake enemy. Speak to the NPC and apply a Soak to your brew.

Missable Spirit: Forest of Wolves: Outside the Forest - BEFORE ringing the third bell, defeat the Wandering Wight mini boss. His spirit is needed for an achievement.

Bell 3: Bamboo Grove: Marsh of White Mist - After defeating Whiteclad Noble, take the path to the left in his arena and ring the bell.

Enduring Echoes
Three bells sound, lost souls bound.


Rings the bell after each of the following boss fights: Guangzhi, Guangmou, and Whiteclad Noble.

Bell 1 - Forest of Wolves: Outside the Forest - From the shrine, follow the path and go left. Proceed forward, over the bridge, and into the boss arena just past it. Defeat Guangzhi and ring the bell in his arena.

Bell 2 - Bamboo Grove: Marsh of White Mist - Ring the bell after defeating Guangmou. This boss is unmissable.

Bell 3 - Bamboo Grove: Marsh of White Mist - After defeating Whiteclad Noble, take the path to the left in his arena and ring the bell.

You'll be transported to a secret area and can earn another achievement by defeating the boss here.

Handy and Hardy
A good match calls for a good weapon.


Upgrade your weapon at a shrine after defeating Whiteclad Noble.

Temple of Taint
Now at the end is the elder’s long wait for the journeyer.


Ancient Guanyin Temple: Grand Chamber - Defeat the boss in this area after ringing the three bells. See "Enduring Echoes" achievement for more information.

Mana + Spark: Bamboo Grove: Marsh of White Mist - Continue through the cave after defeating Whiteclad Noble. A mana upgrade and pillow are found on top of the cliff after exiting the cave.

Stamina: Black Wind Cave: Outside the Cave - After encountering a large enemy and multiple archers, the upgrade is just past this group of enemies in the middle of a wooden bridge.

Achievements in Order: Chapter 2

Frog + Spark: Sandgate Village: Village Entrance - Walk up the nearby steps and take a left. Walk forward and the boss is in the pit. The pillow is on the cliff above.

Creative Concoction
Tonics are well and good, but not be wolfed like food!


Create a medicine at a shrine. Defeat the toad boss in the pit and talk to the NPC up the stairs. He'll teach you how to make medicines.

Horse + Rat: Sandgate Village: Village Entrance - Walk through the door in front of you. If the door is locked, take the path to your right to go around. After passing through the door, the Horse NPC is tied to a pole to your left. For the rat, walk down the steps after speaking to the Horse NPC, turn left, walk past the archway, and up the hill. Speak with the rat in the shack to your left to progress another quest.

Missable Spirit: Sandgate Village: Village Entrance - During the duo rat boss, defeat the small rat first. This will enrage the large rat. You get his spirit after you defeat him.

For this section, I go past the shrine and into the cave after beating the duo boss. I DO NOT go across the bridge. This is important if you're following along. We will loop around to that area later so don't worry.

Stamina: Sandgate Village: Valley of Despair - Defeat First Prince of the Flowing Sands and continue through the cave until you squeeze through a crack in the wall. Walk forward and break the wooden fence. The stamina upgrade is in this room.

Spark: Crouching Tiger Temple: Temple Entrance - Midway up the stairs to your left is the pillow.

Buried in the Sand
The tiger, the child, both lost in the wild.


Yellow Wind Formation: Windrest Hamlet - Progress through the area and defeat the Tiger's Acolyte to get the Old-Rattle Drum. Then use it at three locations: 

Yellow Wing Formation: Windrest Hamlet - Turn around, walk down the slope, through the doorway, go left, and use the drum when prompted.

Sandgate Village: Valley of Despair - Open the large door to the right of the shrine after defeating the Stone Vanguard. Walk down the stairs and go right. Use the drum when prompted.

Sandgate Village: Village Entrance - Walk forward and through the door (you need to go around the right side and defeat a boss if it's locked). After passing through the gate, take a left and use the drum when prompted. Jump down the well and defeat the boss.

Sound in Stone
No words of kind. Pay them no mind.


After defeating the Stone Vanguard, head down the right path and activate the shrine Fright Cliff: Rockrest Flat. From the shrine, turn around and enter the cave to your right. Go left up the stairs and down the path and defeat the Mother of Stones. Backtrack to the entrance and then down the right path. After exiting the cave, go left and straight through the giant door frame. Drop down into the ravine and speak to the NPC. Defeat him for the achievement. You can also purchase a Sobering Stone which is needed for a quest.

Cage of Claws
Smoke rises high, his doom shall arrive.


Equip the Azure Dust transformation. See "Sound in Stone" achievement for obtaining this transformation.

Sandgate Village: Valley of Despair. Head into the cave directly in front of you. Walk through the cave and hug the left wall. Jump down into the pit and turn around. Use the Azure Dust transformation and hit the wall of statues until your transformation ends. Enter the crack in the wall and loot the chest for the Loong Scale.

Forest of Wolves: Outside the Forest - Walk forward hugging the left side. Make your way to the waterfall, use the Loong Scale, and you'll enter a secret area. Defeat the boss for the achievement.

Death in Despair
Resonant waves profound, he is now buried in the ground.


Fright Cliff: Rockrest Flat - Use the Loong Scale to enter the waterfall of sand up the stairs near the shrine. Defeat the boss for the achievement. See "Cage of Claws" achievement above for obtaining the Loong Scale.

Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hûm
Search each Buddha's head; in this perilous land, stones reside.


Fright Cliff: Rockrest Flat - In this area you'll have to find six Buddha's Eyeballs. 

Fright Cliff: Rockrest Flat:
1. Left of the shrine is a stone head. Examine it for the first eye.

2. Turn around and enter the cave to your right. Go left up the stairs and down the path. To you right is a stone head.

Fright Cliff: Squall Hideout:
3. Face away from the shrine and the head is directly in front of you.

4. Go right and follow the path. The head is opposite of the enemies shooting at you.

5. Directly opposite of the previous head. Up the stairs where the enemies are shooting at you.

6. Take the path left of the shrine and enter the cave. Go up the slope to your left for the head.

Bring all six eyes to the rock formation where you fought the Stone Vanguard and defeat the boss.

Spark: Fright Cliff: Rockrest Flat - Head to the opposite end of this open area and you'll see a boar NPC sitting in the middle of an open area. Behind him to the right is the pillow.

Gleams of Gold
The drunk said there’s gold here. Do you believe him?


Fright Cliff: Rockrest Flat - Head to the opposite end of this open area, speak to the boar NPC, and give him a Sobering Stone. He'll move to Crouching Tiger Temple: Temple Entrance. Go there and speak to him again and he'll move back to his starting location. Return there, defeat him, and enter the door he unlocks.

The Tiger Family
The brothers and their father. You’ve met them all.


Defeat the three tiger bosses.

Tiger Vanguard - Crouching Tiger Temple: Temple Entrance - At the top of the temple.

Mad Tiger - See "Buried in the Sand" achievement for more information.

"Tiger Vanguard" - First boss in the secret realm. See "Gleams of Gold" achievement for more information.

Spark: Kingdom of Sahālī: Sandgate Bound - Head left and the pillow is overlooking the desert at the end of the cliff.

Shifting Sands
The beetle came with drumbeats’ call, and left with waves’ gentle fall.


Kingdom of Sahālī: Sandgate Bound - Defeat the boss in this area. See "Gleams of Gold" achievement for getting to the secret area.

Mana + Spark: Fright Cliff: Rock Clash Platform - Take the left path from where you defeated the Stone Vanguard. Down the path you'll find the pillow and mana upgrade.

Health: Crouching Tiger Temple: Temple Entrance - After defeating the Stone Vanguard, head back to where you defeated the Tiger Vanguard and interact with the statue up the stairs. Enter this new area and the upgrade is to your left.

Precious Pills
In furnace there is fire, and in fire there are pills.


Crouching Tiger Temple: Cellar - Speak with Xu Dog. Then speak to him again and select "Talk" for the achievement.

Spark + Old Man: Crouching Tiger Temple: Cellar - Take the path opposite of the tornado and head up the stairs. The pillow is in front of an NPC. Make sure to speak with the NPC too.

Achievements in Order: Chapter 3

Spark: Snowhill Path: Mirrormere - The pillow is on the edge of the frozen lake to your left from the shrine.

Thousand-Mile Quest
Oh woe, oh woe, long trails they did go.


Sandgate Village: Village Entrance - Walk across the bridge, through the door, past the archway in the distance, up the hill, and speak to the rats in the small shack. You need to go around the right side and defeat a boss to open the door if it's locked.

Pagoda Realm: Upper Pagoda - Turn around and drop down the ledge. Defeat the boss for the key to unlock cells in the Pagoda Realm.

Pagoda Realm: Lower Pagoda - Return to the cell you started in. Next to it is a corpse with a sword in it. Pull it out to get a spell and this achievement. If the corpse is not there, it will be a boss on the floor above at the very end.

Auspicious Lantern - Pagoda Realm - Defeat all nine lantern headed enemies BEFORE defeating Captain Wise Voice at the top of the Pagoda. The final lantern enemy is in a secret area. Go to the snow covered area at the top of the Pagoda. After walking up the snow covered planks, proceed forward and you'll be able to drop down the cliff behind the eagle enemy.

Mana + Spark: Pagoda Realm: Outside the Wheel - The mana upgrade is along the main path to your right after exiting the second small cave. There is also a pillow behind the upgrade.

Health: Bitter Lake: Turtle Island - On the back left side of the giant turtle.

Boundless Bitterness
Evening light on snow, rigidity ends in woe.


Bitter Lake: Turtle Island - To the right of the shrine is a statue. Approach it with the Loong Scale and defeat the boss. See "Cage of Claws" achievement above for obtaining the Loong Scale.

Secret in the Scroll
Near the hut the crops thrive; in the Painted Realm, their hearts lie.


Bitter Lake: North Shore of the Bitter Lake - Defeat Chen Loong to your left after getting off the giant turtle. He'll ask you to get an item from Xo Dog at Crouching Tiger Temple: Cellar. Simply speak to him and he'll give you the item. Return it to Chen Loong and you'll be transported to a new area.

Bitter Lake: North Shore of the Bitter Lake - Enter the temple near where you fought Chen Loong. Up the hill is an NPC being attacked. Defeat the enemies and speak to him.

Pound and Perfect
“Through fire, armor is refined; through trials, strength is defined.”


Zodiac Village: Village Entrance - Upgrade any piece of armor at the blacksmith.

The Soaring Slash
A mere test of skill turned into a fight for the kill.


Zodiac Village: Village Entrance - Defeat the blacksmith.

Happy Harvest
Fields kept trim leave time to skim.


Zodiac Village: Village Entrance - Give Chen Loong seeds and harvest them after they've grown.

Shell and Scales
To die is as woeful as to live alone.


Bitter Lake: North Shore of the Bitter Lake - Travel down the shore to your right. You'll see giant snake bones. Walk up to the head and defeat the boss. The giant turtle drops an item back at the shrine.

Spark: Bitter Lake: Precept Corridor - Just past the shrine to your left.

Skandha: Valley of Ecstasy: Mindfulness Cliff - Walk forward until you reach wooden boards and drop down to the right. The statue is at the end of the path.

Spark: In the boss room with the second encounter with boss Non-White.

Frog: Valley of Ecstasy: Forest of Felicity - Face away from the shrine and walk forward. There is a hidden path to your right. The boss is through the tunnel.

Marvelous Melon
A quirky man, a vanished melon patch; a marvelous spell, and an unexpected meeting.


Bitter Lake: North Shore of the Bitter Lake - Following the coast where you fought Chen Loong is an NPC who is being attacked. Defeat the enemies and speak to the NPC they were attacking.

Valley of Ecstasy: Forest of Felicity - Equip the Ring of Fire spell and walk through the gate in front of you. Take the hidden path to the left and go right. You'll encounter the treasure hunter NPC again. Cast Ring of Fire and a cutscene plays. Speak to him and he'll mention the Melon Field.

Valley of Ecstasy: Forest of Felicity - Go back to the shrine and down the slope to the right of the gate. Follow this path to the bottom until you reach a pond. To the right are three enemies near the cliff. Drop down the cliff and defeat the boss to complete the quest.

Corrupted Captains
How mighty would those four spirits be if I could harness their power.


Collect spirits from the four captains:

Captain Lotus Vision - Pagoda Realm: Upper Pagoda - Turn around, drop down the ledge, and defeat the boss.

Captain Wise-Voice - Unmissable

Captain Void-Illusion - Valley of Ecstasy: Longevity Road - Face away from the shrine and walk around the right side of the boulder. To the left of the chest is the spirit on a corpse of roots.

Captain Kalpa-Wave - Unmissable. You get this spirit at Thunderclap Temple.

Pagoda Realm: Lower Pagoda - Return their spirits to the prisoner in the cell next to the cell you started in.

Stamina + Horse: New Thunderclap Temple: Temple Entrance - Pass through the temple in front of you. Walk up the left stairs, turn right, and walk down the stairs to your left. Enter the temple, walk up the stairs to the right, exit the room, and turn left. Go to the center of the bridge and jump over the left railing. The missable NPC is on this bridge so speak with him first. Follow the frozen river and the stamina upgrade is to your left.

Devoted Disciples
Such a waste of those four grand titles.


Defeat the four Non-Enemies:

Non-White - Story related, unmissable.

Non-Able - Valley of Ecstasy - Head up the stairs to your right and then up the hill to your left. The boss is at the top of this hill.

Non-Pure - Spark: New Thunderclap Temple: Mahavira Hall - Down the stairs and in the temple to your left is the boss.

Non-Void - You have to be in fox form to start this boss fight. Head to Valley of Ecstasy: Forest of Felicity and speak to the corpse next to the gate in front of you to get fox form.

New Thunderclap Temple: Temple Entrance - Pass through the temple in front of you. Walk up the left stairs, turn right, and walk down the stairs to your left. Enter the temple, walk up the stairs to the right, exit the room, and turn right. Go up the stone steps, enter the temple, and the boss fight will start.

Lust and Dust
Each and every one holds their own truth.


Defeat Non-Void and return to the corpse you acquired fox form at. See "Devoted Disciples" achievement for more information.

Spark: The pillow is in a temple right of the two giant enemies. Just before the Mahavira Hall shrine.

Achievements in Order: Chapter 4

Health: Village of Lanxi: Estate of the Zhu - The upgrade is behind the pit after The Second Sister boss fight.

Spark + Scorpion: Webbed Hollow: Pool of Shattered Jade - In the middle of the small pond near the shrine is the spark. Down the slope you came from to reach the shrine is a scorpion. Defeat it if you haven't already.

Webbed Hollow: Pool of Shattered Jade - Defeat the boss just past this shrine to make progress for an achievement. Only attack the arms on his back. You'll get the Venomous Armguards at the end of the fight if you destroy four of the six extra arms. This armor piece is needed for an achievement. Also beat the scorpion enemy on your way to the shrine.

Talisman 1 + Scorpion: Webbed Hollow: The Verdure Bridge - Walk across the vine covered bridge and keep left. Keep going left past the cocoons, and into the small village. Defeat the scorpion spirit enemy. Continue up the stairs, past the small house to your right, and cross the bridge. Pull the talisman off the tower in front of you after the cutscene.

Spark: Webbed Hollow: Middle Hollow - Turn around and walk forward. The pillow is directly in front of you.

Horse: Webbed Hollow: Middle Hollow - Drop down the platforms to the right of the shrine. Proceed forward after beating the Centipede Guai. Follow the path until you see a giant cocoon. Smack it and speak with the NPC.

Talisman 2: Webbed Hollow: Cliff of Oblivion - Pull the talisman off the tower directly right of the shrine.

Mana: Webbed Hollow: Cliff of Oblivion - After the Buddha's Right Hand boss, walk across the "bridge" and go left. The mana upgrade is down this hidden path.

The Loong Pattern
In the air, they swing, yet it’s already ending.


Webbed Hollow: Relief of the Fallen Loong - Walk up the stone steps to the right of the shrine with the Loong Scale. Defeat the boss for the achievement.

To reach this shrine, go to Webbed Hollow: Cliff of Oblivion. Drop down the left side of the "bridge" and follow the path. Pass over the rope bridge and follow the path. Use Cloudstep to cross the wooden beam guarded by cocoon slashers. Follow the path to reach the shrine.

You must have defeated the other three Loong bosses for this boss to spawn. See the "Cage of Claws", "Death in Despair" and "Boundless Bitterness" achievements for more information.

Scorpion: Webbed Hollow: Relief of the Fallen Loong - Defeat the scorpion on the hill behind the shrine.

Talisman 3: Webbed Hollow: Relief of the Fallen Loong - Walk up the hill behind the shrine and keep to the left. Keep sticking to the left side until you encounter the talisman.

Frog + Spark: Webbed Hollow: Lower Hollow - Turn around and walk forward past the hanging cocoons. To your left is a crack in the wall you can squeeze through. The pillow is to your left after squeezing through the crack. Continue down the path and you'll encounter the frog boss.

Skandha + Scorpion: Webbed Hollow: The Purifying Spring - Go up the stairs and into the large cavern and the Skandha is at the end of the pond. For the scorpion, go up the stairs, through the tunnel, and up one more set of stairs. The scorpion will be directly in front of you.

Spark: Temple of Yellow Flowers: Forest of Ferocity: Facing the shrine, turn right. The pillow is at the end of the path to your left.

Spark + Old Man: Temple of Yellow Flowers: Temple Entrance - Walk up the stairs, through the door, and head right. Pass through the doors into the courtyard area and the pillow is to your left. In the back of the area go up the stairs and speak with the NPC too.

Misfit with Merit
Never will she see with him the world beyond.


Interact with the four talismans throughout the chapter. You have to interact with Talisman 4 last because a boss will spawn at that location.

Talisman 1: Webbed Hollow: The Verdure Bridge - Walk across the wooden and vine bridge to the left of the shrine and keep left. Keep going left past the cocoons, past the small village, and up the stairs. At the top, run past the small house to your right and cross the bridge. Pull the talisman off the tower in front of you after the cutscene.

Talisman 2: Webbed Hollow: Cliff of Oblivion - Directly right of the shrine.

Talisman 3: Webbed Hollow: Relief of the Fallen Loong - Walk up the hill behind the shrine and keep to the left. Keep sticking to the left side until you encounter the talisman.

Talisman 4: Temple of Yellow Flowers: Court of Illumination - Walk up the stairs and interact with the final talisman and get the boss to 80% health.

Stamina: Temple of Yellow Flowers: Court of Illumination - Walk up the stairs behind the shrine and the upgrade is in the temple.

Secret in Purple Cloud
“What use are eight arms against twenty strikes with my staff?”


Webbed Hollow: Pool of Shattered Jade - Defeat the boss just past this shrine.

Temple of Yellow Flowers: Court of Illumination - Turn right, go down the stairs, and through the building. Follow the path until it splits and go left. Defeat the boss, and enter the secret area. 

Finish "A Family Finished" and "The Wayward Ways" BEFORE defeating the Duskveil at the end of this secret area.

A Family Finished
Together at last, the scorpions united


Webbed Hollow: Pool of Shattered Jade - Face away from the shrine and walk forward. To the left is a slope leading down to the first scorpion.

Webbed Hollow: The Verdure Bridge - Walk across the vine covered bridge and keep left. Keep going left past the cocoons and into the small village. Defeat the scorpion spirit enemy.

Webbed Hollow: Relief of the Fallen Loong - The scorpion is on the hill behind the shrine.

Webbed Hollow: The Purifying Spring - Go up the stairs and into the large cavern. Go to the other end, up the stairs, and through the tunnel. Go up one more set of stairs and the scorpion is directly in front of you.

Purple Cloud Mountain: Bounds of Deity's Abode - You must defeat this boss before The Duskveil! Up the stairs by the shrine, break a pot below the boss to start the fight. See "Secret in Purple Cloud" for getting to this secret area.

The Wayward Ways

Purple Cloud Mountain: Petalfall Hamlet - Speak with Daoist Mi and bring him Violet Hail BEFORE beating The Duskveil. Defeat enemies in this area until they drop it. You'll unlock this achievement and a transformation needed for another achievement.

The Cockerel Crowed
Long and short, far and near, and span has its year.


Purple Cloud Mountain: Cloudnest Peak - Defeat the boss up the stairs. See "Secret in Purple Cloud" achievement for how to reach this secret area.

If you've done the secret area, use the Weaver's Needle vessel during the second half of the final boss. It takes the boss out of his empowered state and you'll get some dialogue.

Spark: Woods of Ember: Camp of Seasons - Cross the rope bridge, follow the path, cross another bridge, and the pillow is up the stairs to your right.

Health: Woods of Ember: Ashen Pass II - The upgrade is directly opposite of the shrine.

Horse: Furnace Valley: Valley Entrance - Follow the path until you can take a right and walk into the lava. Walk through the lava and speak to the cart NPC.

Mana: Furnace Valley: Rakshasa Palace - The upgrade is directly to the left of the shrine.

Always Accompanied
How odd to encounter this old man at every corner!


You need to level up the starting gourd to max and speak with the old man in the following locations:

Bamboo Grove: Snake Trail - Up the stairs to the right is the old man who will upgrade your gourd.

Crouching Tiger Temple: Cellar - Go down the sandy path, turn right, and go to the end of the path to find him.

Pagoda Realm: Warding Temple - You'll speak with him after the Macaque Chief. 

Temple of Yellow Flowers: Temple Entrance - Go up the stairs, through the door, and head right. Pass through the doors into the courtyard. In the back of the area go up the stairs to find the old man.

Furnace Valley: Rakshasa Palace - Follow the path until you can go left or right. Go straight into the lava and turn slightly left into the temple. Speak to the old man and examine the spirit in the room.

Spark: Furnace Valley: The Emerald Hall - Go up the stairs and follow the path. The pillow is straight ahead.

Urge Unfulfilled
“With my life I’ll repay this title he gave me!”


This achievement becomes missable AFTER defeating the Ying-Yang fish during Chapter 5. Speak with Ma Tianba (the horse NPC) during each chapter:

Bamboo Grove: Back Hills - After defeating Lingxuzi and activating the shrine, walk down the path until you encounter some enemies. Take a hidden path to your left and speak to him.

Sandgate Village: Village Entrance - There is a locked door in the distance (you need to go around the right side and defeat a boss if the door is locked). After passing through the gate, take a left and he is tied to a pole.

New Thunderclap Temple: Temple Entrance - Pass through the temple in front of you. Walk up the left stairs, turn right, and walk forward until you come to a set of stairs to your left. Walk down them and into the temple. Walk up the stairs to your right, exit the room, and turn left. Go to the center of the bridge to find him. 

Webbed Hollow: Middle Hollow - Drop down the platforms to the right of the shrine. After beating the Centipede Guai, follow the path until you see a giant cocoon. Smack it and speak to him.

Furnace Valley: Valley Entrance - Continue down the path until you can take a right and walk into the lava. Walk through the lava and speak to the cart NPC. Continue the story and return here after defeating the Ying-Yang fish. Pull the string to receive a transformation and the achievement.

Spark: Field of Fire: Ashen Pass III - To the right of the shrine is the pillow sitting on a ledge.

Souls in the Stalks

Defeat the following six bosses:

[Fungiman] - Pagoda Realm: Upper Pagoda - Cross the wooden bridge and enter the cell to your left. Pick the mushrooms to the left to summon the spirit.

[Old Ginseng Guai] - Valley of Ecstasy: Towers of Karma - Walk forward and pick the plants in front of the stone pillar. To get here, go to Valley of Ecstasy: Forest of Felicity. Walk through the gate and take the hidden path to the left and go right.

[Elder Amourworm] - Webbed Hollow: The Verdure Bridge - Walk across the vine covered bridge and go left. Walk forward a bit and there is an opening to your right with multiple chests. Defeat the boss behind this room for the Proto-Amourworm.

[Fungiwoman] - Temple of Yellow Flowers: Court of Illumination - Turn right, go down the stairs, and through the building. Follow the path until it splits and go right. The boss is one of the mushrooms in this area.

[Nine-Capped Lingzhi Guai] - Field of Fire: Ashen Pass III - To the right of the shrine is the mushroom you can pick to summon the boss.

[Mother of Flamelings] - Field of Fire: Ashen Pass III - After the fox lady extinguishes the fires, go to the center of the slope where you were dodging the spiked ball. To your right is a path. Past where you fight the Flint Vanguard, you'll see a pool of lava. Feed it four flame ore to summon the boss.

Defeat the following enemies if the achievement does not unlock:

[Minor Amourworm] - Webbed Hollow: Cliff of Oblivion, backtrack down the hill and defeat the worms in that area. 

[Fungiling] - Bamboo Grove: Snake Trail - Jump over the cliff to the left, turn right, and run past a snake enemy. To the left of this area is a yellow glowing mushroom. Pick it for this enemy.

[Ginsengling] - Forest of Wolves: Outside the Forest - Walk past the shrine and go left. Pick the red plant to summon the enemy.

[Lingzhiling] - Sandgate Village: Village Entrance - Turn around, go up the stairs, and follow the path. Pick the mushrooms to the left to summon the enemy.

A Willing Warrior

Field of Fire: Ashen Pass III - After the fox lady extinguishes the fires, go to the center of the slope where you were dodging the spiked ball. To your right is a path. Walk down the path and activate the shrine.

After defeating the four cart bosses, speak with the minotaur NPC at the following locations:

Woods of Ember: Ashen Pass - His starting location.

Woods of Ember: Ashen Pass - After chatting with him for the first time, he'll move to the edge of the cliff. Exhaust his dialogue and he'll change locations again.

Furnace Valley: The Emerald Hall - He is in the area where you fought the Crimson-Silver Cart.

Field of Fire: The Cooling Slope - Return to this shrine, beat the boss near the ice wall, speak with the NPC, pass through the ice wall, walk down the stairs, and interact with the tower in the center of the cave.

Frog: Field of Fire: The Cooling Slope - To the left of the tower before entering the secret area.

Spark: Bishui Cave: Purge Pit - Facing away from the shrine, go right and the pillow is at the end of the path.

Three Teams of Two
The six valiant captains who only fight in number.


Bishui Cave: Purge Pit - Defeat the three duo boss encounters. The first two are unmissable. The final encounter is in the secret area. See "A Willing Warrior" achievement for getting there.

Stamina: Bishui Cave: Purge Pit - After the duo boss, run up the stairs and the upgrade is to your left.

Frost and Flame
The merging of ice and fire, swift and severe.


Bishui Cave: Corridor of Fire and Ice - Defeat the final boss in this area. See "A Willing Warrior" achievement for getting here.

The Clamor of Frogs

Defeat the six frog bosses. One spawns in each chapter.

Bamboo Grove: Snake Trail - Walk through the building behind you and jump into the river. Take a left and defeat the boss.

Sandgate Village: Village Entrance - Walk up the nearby steps and take a left. Walk forward and the boss is in the pit.

Valley of Ecstasy: Forest of Felicity - Face away from the shrine and walk forward. There is a hidden path to your right. The boss is through the tunnel.

Webbed Hollow: Lower Hollow - Turn around and walk forward past the hanging cocoons. To your left is a crack in the wall you can squeeze through. Follow the path and you'll encounter the boss.

Field of Fire: The Cooling Slope - To the left of the tower before entering the secret area.

Foothills: Deer Sight Forest - The boss is opposite of the trees with red leaves, under the battlefield area where you fight the rhino boss.

The Five Skandhas
This powerful pill still carries her caring wish.


Skandha of Form: Forest of Wolves: Front Hill - Progress forward past the bridge and jump into the river to your left. At the end is the statue.

Skandha of Feeling: Collect the six Buddha's Eyeballs and defeat the secret boss. See "Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hûm" achievement for more information.

Skandha of Thought: Valley of Ecstasy: Mindfulness Cliff - Walk forward until you reach wooden boards and drop down to the right. The statue is at the end of the path.

Skandha of Choice: Webbed Hollow: The Purifying Spring - The statue is at the end of the pond.

Skandha of Consciousness: Foothills: Mantis-Catching Swamp - Look to your left and there is a perfectly vertical tree directly in front of you. Look up and you'll see a giant cliff. Fly up to the right side of the cliff. Once up there, go forward to the rock wall and there is going to be an entrance to the cave to your right. Through the cave is the boss. Defeat it and walk up its arm for the Skandha.

With all five in hand, bring them to Xo Dog either at Crouching Tiger Temple: Cellar or Zodiac Village: Village Entrance.

Treaded Tracks
“Call off the chase! You’ve crushed every yaoguai here…”


Defeat the following bosses:

[Son of Stones] - Foothills: Mantis-Catching Swamp - Look to your left and there is a perfectly vertical tree directly in front of you. Look up and you'll see a giant cliff. Fly up to the right side of the cliff. Once up there, to your right is a stone monster with a glowing green head.

[Poison Chief 1] - Foothills: Mantis-Catching Swamp - Go through the large hole to your left and go straight and up onto the cliff. There is a Poison Chief up there.

[Poison Chief 2] - Foothills: Deer Sight Forest - Face away from the shrine, get on your cloud, and fly straight. The Chief is over the hill in a clearing.

[Poison Chief 3] - Foothills: Deer Sight Forest - Make your way to the Mantis-Catching Swamp shrine sticking to the mountains to your right. The Chief is in a clearing 30% of the way to the Mantis-Catching Swamp shrine.

[Poison Chief 4] - Foothills: Rhino Watch Slope - Turn right, get on your cloud, and fly over the rocks that look like fingers. Fly over the cliff behind them and the Chief is in the clearing towards the base of the mountain.

[Water-Wood Beast] - Foothills: Mantis-Catching Swamp - Go through the small hole to your left and go straight. The boss version of this enemy is at the end of the lake. You must defeat this boss version, not just a normal enemy.

[Jiao-Loong of Waves] - Foothills: Mantis-Catching Swamp - Look to your left and there is a perfectly vertical tree directly in front of you. Walk up to it and turn right. Get on your cloud and go straight. The boss is in a pond on the middle cliff.

[Lang-Baw-Baw] - Foothills: Deer Sight Forest - The boss is opposite the trees with red leaves, under the battlefield area where you fight the rhino boss slightly to the left.

[Giant Shigandang] - Foothills: Mantis-Catching Swamp - Look to your left and there is a perfectly vertical tree directly in front of you. Look up and you'll see a giant cliff. Fly up to the right side of the cliff. Once up there, go forward to the rock wall and there is going to be an entrance to the cave to your right. Through the cave is the boss.

Some have reported the achievement unlocking after fighting the bosses on Mount Mei. See "Mei of Memory" achievement for getting to this area.

Mei of Memory
Bonds from bygone days still pull at the heart.


Go to Pagoda Realm: The Great Pagoda from Chapter 3. Walk up the steps and the child will transport you to Mount Mei.

To get to this shrine, go to Pagoda Realm: Snow-Veiled Trail and take the path to the right. Cross the bridge and make your way to the base of the massive tower in the distance.

You have to complete all secret areas to unlock Mount Mei.

[Preservation Orb] - Temple of Yellow Flowers: Court of Illumination - This spawns after completing Chapter 4. Go down the path behind you, through the gate, and up the hill to where you fought the boss to access the secret area. In the back of the garden, near some statues, is this item.

[Daoist’s Basket of Fire and Water] - Defeat the final boss in the secret area of Chapter 5. See "A Willing Warrior" achievement for more information.

[Waterward Orb] - Foothills: Mantis-Catching Swamp - Defeat Jiao-Loong of Waves In a pond on a cliff near the shrine.

[Amber Prayer Beads] - Woods of Ember: Height of Ember - After defeating Father of Stones, open the gate and enter the cave. Take the first exit to your right to find this item.

[Gold Spikeplate] - Valley of Ecstasy: Longevity Road - In the snowy area northwest of this shrine is a giant that drops this.

[Boshan Censer] - Defeat the secret boss Red Loong. See "Cage of Claws" achievement for more information.

[Back Scratcher] - Purchased at a shrine in Chapter 1 after completing it.

[Auspicious Lantern] - Pagoda Realm - Defeat all nine lantern headed enemies BEFORE defeating Captain Wise Voice at the top of the Pagoda. The final lantern enemy is in a secret area. Go to the snow covered area at the top of the Pagoda. After walking up the snow covered planks, proceed forward and you'll be able to drop down the cliff behind the eagle enemy.

[Beast Buddha] - Valley of Ecstasy: Towers of Karma - Next to the shrine is an enemy facing a wall that can drop this.

[Bronze Buddha Pendant] - Valley of Ecstasy: Longevity Road - Face away from the shrine and head back the way you came until you reach the gate. To the left is a rock with an enemy on it and past the gate are two more you need to farm to get this item.

[Thunderflame Seal] - New Thunderclap Temple: Temple Entrance - Pass through the temple in front of you and farm the four mages on the steps for this item.

[Virtuous Bamboo Engraving] - Temple of Yellow Flowers: Temple Entrance - Enter the temple and go left to two worm headed enemies you need to farm for this item.

[Spine in the Sack] - Random drop from the cocoons throughout the Webbed Hollow.

Collect five health, mana, and stamina upgrades. In NG+, you can collect the upgrades you've collected during your first playthrough. They will still increase your stats up to collecting five of each. You do not need to collect every unique upgrade. Once you have collected the maximum amount, they will be converted to will. You also need the upgrade for giving Xo Dog all five Skandhas. See "The Five Skandhas" achievement for more information.

[Stamina] - Black Wind Cave: Outside the Cave - After encountering a large enemy and multiple archers, the upgrade is just past this group of enemies in the middle of a wooden bridge.

Chapter 2:
[Stamina] - Sandgate Village: Valley of Despair - Defeat First Prince of the Flowing Sands and proceed until you squeeze through a crack in the wall. Walk straight forward and break the wooden fence. The stamina upgrade is in this room.

[Mana] - Fright Cliff: Rock Clash Platform - Take the left path from where you defeated the Stone Vanguard. Down the path you'll find the pillow and mana upgrade.

[Health] - Crouching Tiger Temple: Temple Entrance - After defeating the Stone Vanguard, head back to where you defeated the Tiger Vanguard and interact with the statue up the stairs. Enter this new area and the upgrade is to your left.

Chapter 3:
[Mana] - Pagoda Realm: Outside the Wheel - The mana upgrade is along the main path to your right after exiting the second small cave after defeating Captain Wise-Voice.

[Health] - Bitter Lake: Turtle Island - On the back left side of the giant turtle.

[Stamina] - New Thunderclap Temple: Temple Entrance - Pass through the temple in front of you. Walk up the left stairs, turn right, and proceed forward until you come to a set of stairs to your left. Walk down them and proceed forward into the temple. Walk up the stairs to your right. Exit the room and turn left. Go to the center of the bridge and jump over the left railing (the horse NPC is on this bridge so you can speak with him. Follow the frozen river and the stamina upgrade is to your left.

Chapter 4:
Health: - Village of Lanxi: Estate of the Zhu - The upgrade is behind the pit after The Second Sister boss fight.

[Mana] - Webbed Hollow: Cliff of Oblivion - After the Buddha's Right Hand boss, walk across the "bridge" and go left. The mana upgrade is down this hidden path.

[Stamina] - Temple of Yellow Flowers: Court of Illumination - Walk up the stairs behind the shrine and the upgrade is in the temple.

Chapter 5:

Seeds to Sow
Take more as fruit as your plants take root.


Collect all types of seeds. You can exit to the main menu and change the time of your PC forward by one hour. This should make all the plants respawn. I've listed them in the order they appear when harvesting. Seeds given to Chen Loong carry over to NG+.

[Jade Lotus] Commonly found in shallow water throughout the game. A good farming spot is at Valley of Ecstasy: Brook of Bliss. Turn around and jump down the right side of the bridge. There are multiple spawns in the water.

[Purple Lingzi] - This is earned when giving Chen Loong the Nine-Capped Lingzi seed.

[Nine-Capped Lingzi] - Field of Fire: Ashen Pass III - To the right of the shrine is the mushroom cluster you can pick to summon the boss.

[Snake-Head Mushroom] - This is earned when giving Chen Loong the Monkey-Head Fungus seed.

[Monkey-Head Fungus] - Temple of Yellow Flowers: Court of Illumination - Turn right, go down the stairs, and through the building. Follow the path until it splits and go right. The boss is one of the mushroom clusters in this area.

[Fragrant Jade Flower] - Village of Lanxi: Estate of the Zhu - There are five or six spawns scattered around the area.

[Fire Bellflower] - Scattered around Chapter 5.

[Tree Pearl] - Valley of Ecstasy: Towers of Karma - Left of the shine is a Tree Pearl spawn. Continue past it and there is another spawn on the other side of the river.

- Mother of Flamlings - Down the path from Flint Vanguard boss go down the path until you see a magma spot on the floor. Deliver 4 Flame Ore to summon the boss.
- Baw-Lang-lang - Field of Fire: The Cooling Slope - The boss will spawn where you entered the secret area upon returning from the secret area. See "A Willing Warrior" achievement for more information.

Chapter 6:
- Son of Stones - Foothills: Mantis-Catching Swamp - Look to your left and there is a perfectly vertical tree directly in front of you. Look up and you'll see a giant cliff. Fly up to the right side of the cliff. Once up there, to your right is a stone monster with a glowing green head.
- Poison Chief - Foothills: Verdant Path - Foothills: Mantis-Catching Swamp - Go through the large hole to your left and go straight and up onto the cliff. There is a Poison Chief up there. 
- Water-Wood Beast - Foothills: Mantis-Catching Swamp - Go through the small hole to your left and go straight. The boss version of this enemy is at the end of the lake.
- Jiao-Loong of Waves - Foothills: Mantis-Catching Swamp - Foothills: Mantis-Catching Swamp - Look to your left and there is a perfectly vertical tree directly in front of you. Walk up to it and turn right. Get on your cloud and go straight. The boss is in a pond on the middle cliff.
- Lang-Baw-Baw - Foothills: Deer Sight Forest - The boss is opposite the trees with red leaves, under the battlefield area where you fight the rhino boss slightly to the left.

Collect all spirits. I've listed them in the order they appear in your inventory but upgraded spirits are listed first. So your list might differ slightly.

Epic Spirits:
[Nine-Capped Lingzhi Guai] - Field of Fire: Ashen Pass III - To the right of the shrine is the mushroom you can pick to summon the boss. 

[Flint Vanguard] - Field of Fire: Ashen Pass III - Progress until the fox lady extinguishes the fires. Once the fires are out, make your way to the center of the slope where you were dodging the spiked ball. To your right is a path. Progress down the path and you'll encounter this spirit.

[Mother of Flamlings] - Field of Fire: Ashen Pass III - Progress until the fox lady extinguishes the fires. Once the fires are out, make your way to the center of the slope where you were dodging the spiked ball. To your right is a path. Progress down the path pass where you fought the Flint Vanguard. You'll see a pool of lava you can feed flame ore too. Once fed four ore, the boss will spawn.

[Top Takes Bottom, Bottom Takes Top] - Furnace Valley: The Emerald Hall - After the fox lady extinguishes the fires, return to the throne room. Go up the staircase to the left and the spiked ball will have crashed into a cliff. Walk up to it and claim its spirit.

[Misty Cloud, Cloudy Mist] - Unmissable

[Flint Chief] - Furnace Valley: Valley Entrance - Follow the path and enter the lava to your left. Follow the lava and you'll encounter this spirit enemy. Equip the "Fireproof Mantle" Vessel to negate damage from standing in lava.

[Father of Stones] - Unmissable

[Fungiwoman] - Temple of Yellow Flowers: Court of Illumination - Turn right, go down the stairs, and through the building. Follow the path until it splits and go right. The boss is one of the mushroom clusters in this area.

[Commander Beetle] - Temple of Yellow Flowers: Forest of Ferocity: Proceed through the area until you come across a stone path. Go up the stairs and the spirit is to the right.

[Elder Amourworm] - Webbed Hollow: The Verdure Bridge - Walk across the vine covered bridge and go left. Walk forward a bit and there is an opening to your right with multiple chests. Defeat the boss behind this room for the Proto-Amourworm. Next break cocoons on the ground until you get three Rice Cocoons. Give the Proto-Amourworm to Chen Loong, rest, feed it three times, rest again, and you'll be able to claim the spirit. Chen Loong is at Zodiac Village: Village Entrance. See "Secret in the Scroll" achievement for information on how to get there. The worm you need to feed is to the right of the pots you claim plants from.

[Centipede Guai] - Unmissable

[Apramāṇa Bat] - Unmissable

[Non-Void] - See "Devoted Disciples" achievement for more information.

[Non-Pure] - See "Devoted Disciples" achievement for more information.

[Non-White] - Unmissable

[Second Rat Prince] - Sandgate Village: Village Entrance - During the duo rat boss, defeat the King of Flowing Sands first. This will enrage the Second Prince of Flowing Sands. After you defeat him, you'll be able to claim his spirit.

[Earth Wolf] - Sandgate Village: Village Entrance - Walk across the bridge and turn right. Walk forward until you reach a wooden platform and turn left. Continue forward hugging the buildings to your left until you encounter this boss.

[Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang] - Snake Trail - Walk through the building behind you and jump into the river. Take a left and defeat the boss.

[Guangmou] - Unmissable

[Wandering Wight] - Forest of Wolves: Outside the Forest - BEFORE ringing the third bell, defeat the Wandering Wight mini boss.

Spirit Locations Part 2

Rare Spirits:
[Bull Governor] - Bishui Cave: Cave Depths - Down the path to the left of the shrine is the spirit enemy. See "A Willing Warrior" achievement for getting to the secret area.

[Earth Rakshasa] - Furnace Valley: Valley Entrance - Follow the path towards the main story boss. It will branch off to the left where you can find this enemy guarding a chest.

[Turtle Treasure] - Furnace Valley: Valley Entrance - Follow the path until you can drop down into the lava to your right. You'll see this spirit enemy guarding a chest. Equip the "Fireproof Mantle" Vessel to negate damage from standing in lava.

[Charface] - Woods of Ember: Height of Ember - Pass through the door leading to the second cart boss. Walk forward into the cave and this spirit enemy is to your left.

[Snake Herbalist] - Purple Cloud Mountain: Valley of Blooms - Cross the bridge and follow the left path. The spirit enemy is in front of the archway.

[Verdant Glow] - Purple Cloud Mountain: Valley of Blooms - Facing the shrine, the spirit is directly to the left.

[Snake Sheriff] - Temple of Yellow Flowers: Temple Entrance - Walk up the stairs, through the door, and head right. Pass through the doors into the courtyard area and the spirit is directly in front of you.

[Dragonfly Guai] - Webbed Hollow: The Purifying Spring - Make your way up the stairs and into the large cavern. Go to the other end, up the stairs, and through the tunnel. Go up one more set of stairs and the enemy is to your left.

[Puppet Tick] - Webbed Hollow: Relief of the Fallen Loong - Walk up the hill and take the path to your right. At the end is this enemy.

[Puppet Spider] - Webbed Hollow: The Verdure Bridge - Walk across the vine covered bridge and keep right. Continue forward until you come across some planks on a ledge. Drop down the ledge and go right. To your left is going to be a wall of cocoons. In the room past them is this spirit.

[Beetle Captain] - Webbed Hollow: Upper Hollow - Go up the steps behind the shrine and turn left. Follow the path, turn right, and proceed forward until there is a boulder in your path. Take the right path around the boulder and hug the right side of the cave until the path splits. You can go left, right, or straight. Go right and the enemy is in this area.

[Scorpion Prince] - Webbed Hollow: The Verdure Bridge - Walk across the vine covered bridge and keep left. Keep going left past the cocoons and into the small village. Defeat the scorpion spirit enemy.

[Lantern Holder] - Village of Lanxi: Estate of the Zhu - This spirit spawns in the arena where you fought The Second Sister after making it to the Webbed Hollow.

[Clay Vajra] - New Thunderclap Temple: Temple Entrance - Pass through the temple in front of you, walk up the left staircase, and enter the temple. Exit through the back and the enemy is in front of you.

[Red-Haired Yaksha] - Bitter Lake: Precept Corridor - Just past the shrine, along the path.

[Crow Diviner] - Valley of Ecstasy: Brook of Bliss - Turn around, cross the bridge, and halfway down the slope. In the pond to your right is the spirit.

[Falcon Hermit] - Pagoda Realm: Warding Temple - Walk down the stairs and follow the path to the right and you'll encounter this enemy.

[Blade Monk] - Pagoda Realm - This spirit is in a secret area. Go to the snow covered area at the top of the Pagoda. After walking up the snow covered planks, proceed forward and you'll be able to drop down the cliff behind the eagle enemy.

[Enslaved Yaksha] - Pagoda Realm: Lower Pagoda - Head up to the next floor and this enemy is in a locked cell before the plank bridge. Pagoda Realm: Upper Pagoda - Turn around, drop down the ledge, and defeat Captain Lotus Vision to get the key.

[Fungiman] - Pagoda Realm: Upper Pagoda - Cross the wooden bridge and enter the cell to your left. To the left are some mushrooms you can pick to summon the spirit.

[Mountain Patroller] - Snowhill Path: Frost-Clad Path - Progress until you reach a small settlement. Go up the stairs to your left, across the platform, and down the stairs to find this enemy.

[Rat Governor] - Fright Cliff: Rock Clash Platform - Take the left path from where you defeated the Stone Vanguard. Down the path you'll find this enemy. He'll probably 1-hit you.

[Spearbone] - Fright Cliff: Rockrest Flat - Right of the shrine and up the steps is this enemy.

[Poisestone] - Fright Cliff: Rockrest Flat - From the shrine, turn around and enter the cave to your right. Go left, up the stairs, and down the path. This enemy is before the Mother of Stones boss.

[Rat Imperial Guard] - Yellow Wind Formation: Windrest Bridge - Progress through the area and you'll be attacked by three of these enemies guarding a door. One of them has the spirit you can collect.

[Civet Sergeant] - Crouching Tiger Temple: Temple Entrance - After defeating the Stone Vanguard, head back to where you defeated the Tiger Vanguard and interact with the statue up the stairs. Progress through this area and you'll encounter this enemy.

[Swift Bat] - Sandgate Village: Valley of Despair - Defeat First Prince of the Flowing Sands and proceed until you squeeze through a crack in the wall. The enemy is on the other side.

[Rat Archer] - Village Entrance - Walk across the bridge and turn right. Walk forward until you reach a wooden platform and turn left. Continue forward hugging the buildings to your left until you encounter a boss. Defeat it and open the locked door. The enemy will drop down from the wall and can be killed.

[Wolf Assassin] - Black Wind Cave: Outside the Cave - After encountering a large enemy and multiple archers, to the left is this enemy.

The Horse NPC is tied to a pole in a small temple with a few steps leading up to him. Walk down those steps and turn left. Walk forward through the archway and up the hill to your left is a shack. You'll be able to interact with it to speak with an NPC inside. You don't actually see the NPC but you can speak with it.
