Legacy Textures

Description
A legacy texture pack made by the Necesse team to make the game look like it did before the graphics overhaul.

The texture pack is client-side, meaning you can have the texture pack active while your friends or the server does not.

The mod does not have sprites for players or settlers sitting down. Instead, it will look like they are standing on the chair. New hairstyles and eye types are also not added and will look like the old hair styles.

The texture pack will not be supported by the team in future updates, since it would require us to draw every new texture twice in both styles. The community is welcome to pick up support though, and for that reason we have made the mod open source on GitHub[github.com].

just hope the dev won't abandon this... for me this is how i discovered necesse ! also it was giving off a terraria vibe which i love too , and it's gone with the new graphics overhaul ... don't get me wrong i find the new one has it's own charm too (quite darker tho) but if i could chose it'd be legacy 100%

i haven't came back to this game till now and man a lot has changed. i remember this game being vary small

Players who bought game early are the real supporters from this game when the graphics were with legacy textures, far before the new ones coming to complain about graphics. They supported Dev early and make solid positive reputation to the game. Now because 2-3 new players who can't but games because graphics look like 1st Minecraft, he decided to make new ones and to not update legacy textures. Early players deserve better respect and should be considered as serious. I hope Dev update these legacy textures overtime as well the new one.

Yeah it is definitely nostalgia. People saying new art looks ugly got their eyesight messed up from wearing rose tinted glasses for too long. The new look is an objective improvement.

But it's definitely good to have this as an option for those who would want to revisit the old look or for new people to see how different and basic the old sprites were.

why are people mad about the graphics overhaul, it looks great
given i came in after the graphics overhaul, i dont have nostalgia for the old textures so i guess nostalgia is a driving factor

A good choice, definetly prefer the overhauled graphics over these unshaded flat textures though.

I prefer highly the old texture pack called "legacy textures". The new one isn't better sorry for your artists. So i activate now this mod and i hope no bug.
