History

In 1940, the C&O found itself needing a more powerful locomotive class than the T-1's and H-7's they had running the coal lines at the time. While the C&O was looking into locomotives similar to a competitor railroad Norfolk & Western's 2-6-6-4, The engineers at Lima were experimenting with 3-axle trailing truck designs. The combination of those 2 ideas birthed the 2-6-6-6 design. Weighing 771,300 lbs, with a 135 sq ft Grate, 67" drivers, and a rated tractive effort of 110,000 lbs, the H-8's were huge in quite a few ways. After the success of the first order, the C&O named the type the "Allegheny" after the mountains they ran over, and bought 50 more, bringing the fleet up to 60 locomotives. During testing, the C&O discovered the Alleghenies could develop an unmatched instantaneous horsepower of 7500, and 6900 continuous at 46 mph. By 1956, all H-8's were retired as the railroad converted to Diesel locomotives. 1601 is on static display at the Henry Ford Museum, along with 1604 in the B&O Museum.

Im not entirely sure if theres any pass cars that use the steam heating out there rn, some of my older ones do I think, cly cocks are more of a realism thing to have, irl, they help to clear any water that has condensed and pooled in the cylinders on startup, in game, it drains the steam chest a bit faster

Also when do you use the steam cocks they arent mentioned in the instructions

Is there any mod for passenger cars that use the steam heating?

Still works for me, check that you have the main valve open for it on the steam turret, along with the steam turret valve.

Did the update break the feedwater pump?

the backgrounds in those first few screenshots were just a thumbnail setup specifically for this train made by enzo, its not an actual map.

@mtischer1 read description, their just photoshoot tracks made by enzo for this thumbnail, they don't actually work. I have heard NSO (North sawyer overhaul) has some tracks that are similar though, that actually work.
