Historical Rename

Description
*Dynasties* version of my original mod from *Pharaoh* proper.
Renamed some factions, provinces, settlements, and characters to be more historically accurate.
Sorry for delay, meant to release this the day of release or the day after, but ran into a modding problem I've never seen before (thanks KAM for the help!)

Recommended mods to use alongside this one
- You can use this mod in any case, but I highly recommend you use this mod with 'Cavalry Removed' mod as that what my mod is built around, such as for renaming chariot units and whatnot. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3296577955&searchtext=cavalry
- If you especially want to rename factions such as if you're changing Hanigalbat to Aššur after conquering the Assyrian minor faction and establishing yourself as the true overlord of Assyrian lands, use 'Rename Your Faction': https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3299752581&tscn=1722387126 For playing Hanigabat, whenever you choose to, use this mod to rename your faction and the special S characters in Aššur can be typed in by pressing Alt and 0154 to get the š character. I tested it with this mod and it works.
- 'Faction Unlocker [Alpha]' is compatible, especially to play factions like Meshwesh which have changed starting factions from vanilla. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3298685734&searchtext=faction+unlocker OR 'Higher Tides' by the same guy and it's the same mod but with more (playable) SP factions https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3301203557&searchtext=higher+tides
- 'historical local gods as factions' crest' adds accurate flavour like Shedyt getting a crocodile because they worship Sobek or Zawty getting Sukkot's crest because they worshipped Anubis, etc. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3298187003&searchtext=crest

Season names changed to more accurately portray the seasons of the year.
- Season 1: Flood/ Spring
- Season 2: Growth/ Summer
- Season 3: Harvest/ Autumn
(only affects naming convention)

Some examples of reasons for name changes are "Rhacotis" is Greek but "Ra-Ked" is its Egyptian equivalent and "Byblos" is Greek but "Gubla" is the Akkadian equivalent, etc. Although, I did leave some Greek since Greek traders were prevalent in Cyprus and the Levantine coast, so I used the Greek name "Phonecia" for three province names. I did this because while Ugarit and Khadesh make sense in their provinces, there's no reason why Tzor (Tyre) deserves its province name any more than Sidun (Sidon) and Gubla (Byblos) of that same province, even if a playable faction starts there, so "Phoenicia" it is. Also places like Kish are just about right where Malgu is in game, and Malgu just isn't as important of a city. Same with Hamazi replacing the (supposedly real?) city of Atlila. Etc.

The Aegean is not my strong suit by any means so thanks to Rafswi7 the creator of the famous *Troy* mod 'Expanded Factions' for the help with that area especially.

Will add future names if they're brought to my attention and I do a little research on it to confirm. Have future plans of my own as well and will update the mod when I can. I am also not that well versed in the Greek area so let me know especially if something there is fishy.

I made an update last month and just made another now. Most everything should be fixed up an good to go (not to say the mod will never get updated again or anything), but the one big thing now I'm waiting on is a friend helping me with a separate (but compatible) mod that fixes the problem of Assyrian factions having Babylonian garrisons.

You wrote Akkadian HHorsemen :D

Technically, Kush is the biggest and southern part of Nubia, as opposed to Wawat, Irtjet. There a Kushite kingdom in Meroe which is just outside the map edge. A all unifying kingdom of Nubia didn't exist. :)
@Sigmund: Caria and Lycia, plus those are their names which highlights their iron age selves, are different places.
There are records from Hatti on Troy, certain have Luwian sounding names. Incl Priam (above listed in it's Hittite form if I'm not mistaken), which where a title, like king. So not his actual name. Connection with Piyama-radu is another prominent theory.

Right, so since i can see you know a little bit of history, i don't know who is your sources but here is some more context, Luwian is a language which connected with Carian(Lycia) Lydian (Lydia) was in use 2000BC to 1000BC predominantly spoken central e.g Hattusa (proven archaeological facts) western Anatolia all the way to Syria,
Troy doesn't fall into that but because it was big city hub of trade there was a lot of languages spoken, bronze age is the birth of a lot of indo european languages
1)that doesn't make them luwian or assuwan
2)just like you said narrative of Iliad - apart from Homer and Iliad we have almost nothing in written form of the bronze age apart from archaeological sites and we do know Troy was built again and again one on top of the other.
Anyway i digress, trojan names can go as you may i just corrected the greek ones.
Let's not forget very little have survived from the bronze age so we have only assumptions to make in some aspects. :)

@Sigismund
To my understanding, contrary to the popular narrative of the Iliad, the Trojans were not Greeks with eastern influence, but either Luwian or Assuwan with Greek influence. So their names don't have to be Greek names, or at the very least not in the same way as in Greece itself.
The Aegean is not my specialty, I have two people I talked with on Discord/ Steam that are much more knowledgeable on Bronze Age Greece and Troy and whatnot. And I trust they gave me the best information one could give me on the topic.
But I am always happy to hear feedback so I greatly appreciate it! :)

Outstanding, very good job getting names historically correct for egyptians, cannans BUT being greek i can tell you right now greek ones some of them are wrong.
Starting

*Hector - Ektoras (Ekoto?? i don't know this language)
*Aeneas - Aineias ✔️
*Achilles - Achilleas (use "ch" )
*Paris - Paris or also known as Alexander as well (Pariziti?? sorry but again what language is this)
*Ajax - Aias ✔️ (tóso megalýteri---this is grammatically and contextually incorrect, your translation means "much bigger" as feminine
what you can do is Aias o Megalyteros (masculine) which grammar is correct but NOT historically
which is Aias o Telamonios ( Aias the son of Telamon but in english the translate it as Ajax the Greater) -- sorry about this long one but i was what drived me to answer as well i am from salamis or Salamina
*Menelaus - Menelaos ✔️

other than that :steamthumbsup: from me

@Legionary Guard

I didn't notice the horsemen one as I was updating my mod in alignment with the No Cav Mod, but I can edit the horsemen units too in my next update.
And yes, that was mentioned in the comment before yours. Apparently CA gave Assyria Babylonian garrisons and no one knew because every other Meso unit is named "Akkadian". I've been working on fixing that in a mod and it's been reported as a bug to CA.
Legionary Guard Aug 10, 2024 @ 1:40am
(Babylonian) Akkadian Horsemen are misspelled "Aakkadian Horsemen"
(Assyrian) Akkadian Horsemen are misspelled "Akkadian Hhorsemen"

Also, I don't think this is your mod, but I've noticed a Weird Thing where Assyrian units appear in native recruitment buildings from villages and Babylonian/Kassite units appear in native recruitment buildings from cities, in southern Mesopotamia/Mat-Tamti/Babylonia/Karduniash.
Il-Khan of Persia  [author] Aug 8, 2024 @ 10:49am
@Franklin1917
I see that, hmm. Thanks for pointing this out. Idk why CA made the entirety of the Assyrian garrisons use Babylonian (Mat-Tamti) units. Native units you can recruit as Babylon are being used as garrison troops in Assyria (I haven't even checked Elam) and I don't know why.
Let me look into this.
Franklin1917 Aug 7, 2024 @ 9:22pm
renaming the akkadian units to kassite will make Assyrian garrisons all become Kassite and babylonian
