The real life Counterparts to every single hunt weapon
由 "Hard Tack" Tom 制作
From the double cycling of a lebel rifle's bolt action elevator, to 6 rows of circular holes on the slate riposte's barrel shroud, there really is no other game i know of that even comes close to Hunt Showdowns level of care, precision, and detail to their firearms. So in appreciation of seeing so many iconic weapons brought to life, and because I'm an absolute gun nut and love firearms, i have created a list every gun in the game - and the real life weapon that the firearm was based off of.

Ive also attached a youtube video to every single gun, where you can watch gun Jesus Ian McCullen himself from Forgotten weapons field strip and give a presentaion on every single gun in the game.

Have a favorite rifle or pistol? Pull up the video ive attached and find out the full history and inner workings of your favorite firearm. <3

Shotguns
Starting out with a BOOM we have
The most iconic shotgun ever created
The All American war crime stick

we have the:

- Winfield 1893 Slate -

Real name: the Winchester 1893 Trench Gun, (1897 for the Riposte)
This video also it explains nicely why in Hunt the regular slate doesnt have the corrugated heat shield surrounding the barrel, while the riposte does. It is an excellent example of crytek's attention to detail and something that 99.9% of players will miss!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viWAUjkz9UY

- Crown and King / Auto 5 -
Real name: Browning Auto-5
This is an amazing in depth video on the history, design, and drama surrounding the winchester 1911 and the browning Auto-5. One of the best videos on this guide.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66DC24vi8Fc

- Caldwell Rival 78 -
Real Name: Colt 1878 Double Barrel Shotgun
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4No0BmNp20

- Spectre 1886 -
Real Name: Spencer 1886.
This video is an hour long documentary, forgotten weapons sadly doesnt have a teardown of a spencer.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHdXcW3vss0

- Winfield Terminus -
Real Name: Winchester Model 1887 Lever action shotgun
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeddcnrbOGg
Bonus Video! This is the the model 1886 Lever action shotgun, and Predecessor to the terminus
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx6xaNab5Es&t=1s

- Romero 77 -
Real Name: 1872 Model J. Stevens shotgun
(Just watch the video of the Alof's Shotgun, its pretty much a combined Romero + Alamo video)

- Romero Alamo -
Real name: 1920 Alof's Reloader for Model J Stevens Shotgun
This thing is COOL. And the cycling click is so satisfying.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kd_hwY0w90
Pistols
Starting off with everyones favorites! we have the:

- Dolch 96 -
Real Name: C96 Mauser
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnmvvlYU5uI - Dolch And Dolch Precision in one video

- Caldwell Conversion Uppercut -
Real Name: Colt 1848 Dragoon Revolver
This video has both uppercut, and uppercut precision in 1 video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=325p_CkUVZQ

- Bornhiem No. 3 -
Real Name: Bergmann No. 3 / 1896
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNERn3UXZXg

- LeMatt MkII -
Real Name: LeMat Grapeshot Revolver
Fun fact these are ball and wad pistols, NOT cartridge revolvers like in Hunt! this is definitely a balance decision to speed up reloading.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ-uIMrzu-4&t=358s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjdi48QakyE

- Scottfield Model 3 -
Real Name: Smith and Wesson No.3 Revolver
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRCD5EqXuLs

- Nagant M1895 Officer -
Real name: Officer's Model 1895 Nagant Revolver.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsNsGJfP6Bc

Quad Derringer
Real Name: 1861 Sharps Derringer
Fun fact! Since the bullets are arranged in a square formation, this gun's hammer has a revolving firing pin (you heard that right) that rotates 90 degrees whenever you pull the hammer back in order to hit the primers.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BywHxVtm7xo

I didnt attach any videos to these guns because they're just extremely simple single load, single action revolvers. No cool teardowns or inner workings to see here.

- The Caldwell Pax -
This is of course the Colt Single Action Army (SAA)
Absolutely Iconic - Just like the in game description. Literal Documentaries written about this gun.

- Caldwell Conversion pistol -
Real name: 1871 Colt Open Top revolver.
The Colt Open Top revolver was the predecessor to the Colt Single Action Army. Or "Caldwell Pax"

- Caldwell Conversion Chain pistol -
Real Name: 1886 Josselyn chain revolver

- Caldwell 92 New Army -
Real Name: Colt New Army Model 1892

- Nagant M1895 -
Real name: Nagant single action revolver Model 1895 .

Notable mentions:
The Uppermat/Haymaker. Unless im mistaken, this is the only gun in the game that not exist in real life.
Rifles
Starting with my favorite rifle to use in game we have:

- The Springfield 1866 -
Real Name: US Model 1861 Musket, with the 1866 Allin trapdoor Conversion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jckv3dfwvSY
This is a video of the 1865, not 1866, but still pretty neat because Ian does mention all the differences and improvements between the 1865 and 1866.

- 1865 Carbine -
Real Name: The spencer 1865 Carbine
This video just tickles me pink i had to post it. Spencer INVENTED The pump shotgun. It was groundbreaking. So the fact someone took the time to convert one of his rifles it to a shotgun instead of just buying the spencer is not only impressive, but incredibly hilarious. It would be like buying a gasoline powered Tesla and than converting it to EV by hand. Just buy a new tesla!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmY_CPkbNq4

- Caldwell marathon -
Real name: Colt lightning
Fun fact: This was an attempt by colt to challenge winchester's lever action rifles, and the in game arsenal entry states that the marathon is a "new gun to challenge the winfield". Cute little attention to detail and shows that the dev who made this gun knows his history.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQG5GBEy_es

- Mako Carbine -
Real name: Marlin Lever Action Rifle (1893, or 1895)
There's definitely room for debate on this one. The 1893 marlin was chambered in .30-30 winchester, and the 1895 was chambered in .45-70 government. Both are rimmed, large rifle cartridges, but since all ammo from Russian 7.62, french 8mm, and USA .45-70 is all lumped under "Long Ammo" we cant really tell for sure. Personally, i think its the 1893 since 30-30 looks exactly like the long ammo model in game.
But hey at least we know its NOT the 1894 - that was chambered in .44 magnum. Which funnily enough is the only model that i found good slow motion footage of so... suffer!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THCFpz6gEk8

- Sparks rifle -
Real Name: 1874 Sharps Buffalo Rifle
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxdGExIJntI

- Martini Henry Ironside -
Real name: Captain Charles Harsten's Mk IV Conversion of the Martini Henry I.C.1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HeztkQ9WNE

- Springfield 1892 Krag rifle -
Real name: The Norwegian 1882 Krag-Jorgensen
Also I couldn't find a video for a Norwegian Krag, so this is a Danish Krag. Different loading door but otherwise the exact same
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9WpqYVd1yE
Fun Fact: although this gun was made in the US, it was actually licensed from the Norwegians and represents the only time the US army adopted a foreign rifle as it's primary service rifle.

- Drilling -
Real name: German Luftwaffe M30 Drilling
Fun fact, the barrels of the M30 Drilling consist of 2 shotgun barrels and 1 rifle barrel. Crytek changed two barrels to rifle barrels probably for balance. Also the gun was made in 1930, and only issued as trophy pieces to German ace pilots.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANdKiodm5W0

- Winfield 1873 - Winfield 1873c - Winfield 1873 Musket -
Real Name(s): Winchester Model 1873, Which had with carbine, rifle, and musket variants exactly like in Hunt
(im guessing Winfield was little too close to Winchester, and Crytek probably got a call from Winchester's lawyers at some point... resulting in the DRASTIC name change in Hunt: 1896)
1 Video showcasing all 3 variants: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52_IE0dcWsk

- Winfield 1876 Centennial -
Real name: Winchester Model 1876 - which actually was chambered in .45-70, a much more powerful bullet
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=282V-Fjs9pY

You'll notice that these 5 rifles (as well as the Krag) have the same in game name as their real life counterparts. This is probably due to all of these weapons being foreign designs and not protected by US copyright law, allowing Crytek to use their real name.

- Lebel 1886-
Real Name: French 1886 Lebel rifle.
(this is my personal favorite video just because of how odd this gun is)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yM68YFzRGY

- 1892 Berthier - Real name: French 1907 Berthier. Fun fact this is pronounced "ber-tee-yay" ... French
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih0ISG98uTk

- Martini Henry IC1 -
Real name: British Martini Henry I.C.1.
This is actually a video and story of the citadel martini, an egyptian refurbished martini rifle. Awesome story - definitely check this video out.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG0e5DqbfQw

- Vetterli 71 Karabiner -
Real name: Swiss 1871 Vetterli Bolt action rifle
Specifically the 7 round Cavalry carbine, not the 13 round infantry rifle
History of the Grafton Vetterli rifle boating accidents (also a really cool story)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THK7Q9Mfa_I
Firing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAA5tZfHxX4

- 1891 Mosin Nagant -
Real name: Russian 1891 Mosin Nagant
Forgotten weapons oddly enough doesnt have a teardown of a Russian Mosin but does have teardowns of American and Finnish Mosins, so take your pick!
Finnish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46ZP9XH8bZs
American: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-OfevJb03M

The Avto and the Cyclone
- The Avtomat -
Real Name: Huot Automatic rifle.
Although there was a 1940's attempt by Tokarev to convert the mosin to a full auto rifle, Tokarev's conversion ended up having a horizontal magzine sticking out the side of the mosin much like a British Sten gun. The Avtomat is undoubtedly based on the Canadian Huot rifle, a Canadian full auto conversion of the British Ross bolt action rifle. This video goes over the history and design of the Huot, and once you see the Huot's massive air cooled barrel shroud and large cheek plate - you'll know what i mean - this is the Avto.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UI0XvrIfl0
I think Crytek just used the mosin nagant so they wouldnt have to add a completely new rifle just for the avto.

- the Vetterli Cyclone -
Real Name: The Howell Conversion of the Enfield Rifle
Just like the the Avto, the Vetterli Cyclone is a shockingly well thought out bastard child of Lieutenant Howell's Conversion of the British Enfield rifle that they carefully, precisely, and expertly duct taped to the vetterli carbine they already had in the game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U682yOpNafg
Its cursed, but not near as cursed as the Howell, and looking at the Cyclone i think it would work. It might actually be more reliable due to the reliability of the tube feed mechanism instead of the box magazine loading system of the Enfield (a feed issue from the the magazine was the main source source of jams and loading problems, especially when it was dirty)

Do the bullets disappear 2 inches from the barrel due to server ping? asking for a friend lol

The Slate Riposte is not the Winchester 1897, it's also the 1893. You can tell by the cut out on top of the receiver. The devs just made up a "trench" version of it. It wouldn't make much sense for it to be the 1897 model as the game is supposed to be set in 1896. This video from forgotten weapons nicely outlines the main differences https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtIGfX7MGTE . Great post otherwise.

Explination is right above the video "i couldn't find a video of a Norwegian Krag, so i put a danish Krag instead. Different loading door but otherwise the same thing"
Feral 2024 年 9 月 12 日 下午 10:55
not sure why you posted the Danish Krag, when the U.S. adopted their own version of the Krag chambered in .30-40, called the Springfield 1892 Krag.

@lagreskul Thats it - Thats the Cyclone! YEAAAAAAAAAH BUDDY. Thanks for finding it (and for all the other tips) i knew the cel rigotti wasnt the one but it was the only vetterli conversion i could find and it was driving me crazy.

Also @johnJack and Feral, Thanks for the help as well, ive updated the guide with all your new finds, and added the new weapons from Hunt 1896 as well

Cheers lads:cozybethesda:

Turns out the mako is the marlin1893, not the 1894. The 1893 is in rifle caliber, the 1894 is in pistol calibers. https://youtu.be/lsVxcMMM3jA?si=TJg4jsonu1p6tBL1
Feral 2024 年 8 月 24 日 上午 12:15
the slate is actually the winchester 1893, the earlier, almost prototype version of the 1897. the enlarged ejection port on the receiver indicates the 1893 over the '97, the main difference being that the '93 did not work well with smokeless powder, and had some safety issues that were fixed with the '97.

Finally, the Cyclone most resembles, to me, not the Cei-rigotti conversion (which is straight in its motion path https://i.imgur.com/G5MICEm.png) , but the Howell Automatic Rifle, a conversion of the Enfield rifle. The big thing here, to me, is the guide track to pull the bolt along its usual motion path, which is absent in the Cei-Rigotti conversion, but is present in the Howell.
