Description
-------< DESIGNED FOR 128 ITERATIONS, CONTINUOUS, VSYNC OFF >-------

The Pedersen Rifle was an American self-loading rifle designed by John Pedersen
in about the mid 1920s with hopes to replace the 1903 Springfield.

The first ~20 or so guns made were PB rifles, and later ones are PA rifles.
I've seen production estimates ranging from 100-250, but its more often said to be 200-250.
The Pedersen I've made here is a PA.

This gun is delayed blowback, using a toggle (like a Luger, but not a locked breech)
to delay the opening of the bolt.

The Pedersen competed with what would become the Garand during trials,
and as I'm sure everybody knows, the Garand won.

A consequence of that delayed blowback action is that pressure in the chamber is still relatively high during extraction which causes spent casings to stick.

Because of this, the Pedersen required lubricated ammunition to extract reliably.
Although instead of doing something silly, like adding an oil pad to grease the ammo,
Pedersen came up with a pre-applied hard wax coating that would lubricate
the chamber upon firing, without being a nuisance outside of the gun.
Despite the good work around, the army was unsatisfied that it needed lubrication at all.
(This is actually the same system used in the FN P90, but for different reasons)

Another issue is its complexity.
And after making this gun in PPG, this is one i want to emphasize...
its a complicated action especially when compared to the Garand,
using precise machinery and lots of high tolerance parts to function
Patents for both the Pedersen and Garand are at the bottom of this description

However it is a smooth shooter, with great sights and ergonomics.

It's a cool gun, but the M1 Garand was a better pick for the army

How to Load and Fire:
Open Bolt
Insert clip
Close Bolt (press F on the crank handle)
Fire

it may sometimes fail to eject a clip...
still better than my earlier prototypes of the gun though.
i went through about 9 different clip designs to find something that ejected reliably,
and also worked well in the action.

I recommend disabling hovering highlights, it lets you see the gun a lot better.
Open pause menu, go to Settings, and in 'General' there is 'Show hovering highlights'.

Object Count: 385 (including ammunition)

this contraption but with the parts visible

This requires 'Quality of Life Items', but you don't need it turned on in-game.

if you disable collision on a person and use some pins or fixed cables you could make most of my guns handheld tbh
