How to beat WhiteNight if you're stupid (and also if you aren't!)
By sodachi_kinnie
Here's a guide on how to beat WhiteNight if you don't have access to the 12 apostles that were initially transformed, or also for if you do! This guide contains a general idea on how to fight him, or 2 additional cheese methods if you don't want to go through the effort.

*THERE WILL BE SPOILERS IN THIS GUIDE!*

Are you stupid like me? Did you do a day 1 reset after your initial transformation from Plague Doctor to WhiteNight, losing your 12 apostles? If so, then this guide is for you!

Before I start talking about the methods to fight WhiteNight and get the E.G.O weapon, I want to say some things you might want that will make this fight much easier.

  • Binah's suppression reward
  • Geburah's suppression reward
  • Lots of ALEPH-tier E.G.O gear
  • Employees with level EX stats
  • Tiphereth's suppression reward
  • Patience

Binah's reward is helpful because it removes the threat of losing your E.G.O gear, making it much less consequential to throw away your employees and then use memory repository.

Gebura's reward is useful because you will want every single piece of ALEPH level E.G.O you can get to be able to do as much damage output as possible while also reducing the massive damage output from WhiteNight's PALE attacks.

Tiphereth's PALE shield bullets are incredibly useful in negating WhiteNight's attacks, allowing you to focus on dodging the apostles.

If you plan on fighting WhiteNight without cheese, MAKE ABSOLUTE SURE YOU AREN'T USING WHITE DAMAGE WEAPONS! These weapons will heal WhiteNight, making the fight go on much longer than it needs to.

If you're going to be using the second method in this guide, you're going to want to make sure you have the tool abnormality Shelter from the 27th of March and as many high-damage ALEPH and WAW level abnormalities you can get. If you've ever struggled with containing an abnormality, chances are it could help you. Then again, the abnormalities that actually make it to WhiteNight are limited, so don't stress yourself too much on getting the perfect facility setup. As long as you have some that can deal high damage output like Nothing There, you should be fine.

Again, if you use this method try not to have abnormalities that deal lots of WHITE damage like Blue Star. WHITE damage heals WhiteNight, so it'll make the fight take much longer. If you have The Silent Orchestra, its white damage shouldn't be a huge deal unless it's in the same department as WhiteNight, where in that case you should keep retrying the day until WhiteNight moves out of the department.
Method 1: Combat
The first method involves micromanagement and having enough high-level nuggets to be able to tank damage, dodge attacks, and melt the apostles/WhiteNight.

For this method, assemble a "kill squad" with your best non-white ALEPH gear and highest stats. Place only these employees down. Afterwards, make sure you have enough LOB to fill up your entire facility with throwaway newbie employees.

If you already know and have access to the 12 apostles, you can skip the filler employees and bring all of them along. Don't give them any of your good E.G.O so that it doesn't go to waste. You're going to need all the fighters you can get for this fight.

If you don't have access to the 12 apostles (which is why you're probably here), filling your slots up with useless employees reduces the chance that one of your kill-team members will turn into an apostle. If WhiteNight doesn't have access to the original 12 employees that were blessed, it will pick a random 12 other employees, and if it can't get all of them it will use clerks. If it doesn't have clerks or employees to use, it will just summon them.

From here, try to get WhiteNight in a department with immediate access to an elevator (Safety, training, records, extraction) by restarting the day until you get it.

When you start the day, put all of your kill-team in a hallway outside of one of the top/bottom elevators for the department. Move all your other filler employees/blessed employees to the other side of the facility.

It's important to put them in the hallway rather than the elevator itself so that if any of them turn into apostles, there will (hopefully) be enough distance so that they won't be able to use their instakill attacks and take out your units.

As WhiteNight's Qliphoth counter reaches 1, group-select all of your kill-team and get your cursor over the elevator next to the room. As soon as WN breach begins, immediately begin to spam right click on the elevator to try and get your remaining non-apostle employees to the elevator. From here, you can use HP/SP/Shield bullets as needed.

The rest is relatively simple, send your employees to take out the apostles in the room and duck back into the elevator to dodge attacks/heal. It might take some practice to get used to the timing, but the apostles have a decently long wind-up animation that will serve as your key to get the hell back into the elevator. After you whittle the apostles' health down, move onto WN itself.

One important thing to remember for this method is that WN will release a ring of PALE damage every 60s, so head back to the elevator and shield accordingly if you need to. Remember that your bullets are limited, so try to make the most of it. Also, WN will revive the apostles from time to time, so make sure you pay attention to that as well.

With that, all it takes is practice and patience and you should be able to kill WhiteNight. Make sure you immediately return to memory repo after you finish the fight to save the E.G.O weapon. DO NOT RETRY THE DAY OR PRESS THE BLUE BUTTON ON TOP IF YOUR EMPLOYEES DIED. Doing so will get rid of your newly earned weapon. If you have Binah's suppression completed, then you shouldn't have to worry about losing the E.G.O on dead employees after you repository.

Method 2: Shelter Cheese
This method is simple. All you need to do is place an employee in the tool abnormality Shelter from the 27th of March, and watch all hell break loose. Eventually, the breached abnormalities should kill WhiteNight, but it will take hours. I recommend you retry the day until you get WhiteNight and a high-damage abno like Nothing There in the same department, so that the process speeds up. This method takes a while, but it simplifies the process.

Again, just make sure that your WHITE damage abnormalities are nowhere near WhiteNight, as they will heal it and make the fight take much longer.

If you have a lot of time to spare and don't mind going AFK or leaving the game running for a while, this method is viable. However, bad or unlucky abnormality placement can make this method take much longer, or even make it impossible. If you're having trouble with this method, consider using method 3.
Method 3: Green Midnight Cheese
For this method, you'll want to keep retrying the day until WhiteNight is positioned in either the information or control departments. It's possible for this method work in others, but it's much slower, and these two are the most effective. You'll want to play the game as usual until the midnight ordeal. If the ordeal is not green, retry the day.

When the laser spawns in, it should ideally be placed right below WhiteNight, dealing lots of BLACK damage overtime. Eventually, the laser will kill WhiteNight. You'll want to either put an employee in the Shelter from the 27th of March to protect from the rotating laser, or use the facility's elevators to dodge it. Just like in the previous method, if you use the shelter, avoid having WHITE damage-type abnormalities close to WhiteNight to prevent healing. Hopefully, the rotating laser will kill any of them before they can reach WN to heal.

Additionally, if you do decide to use the shelter, you can basically just add the midnight ordeal onto any other abnormalities you might have used during the previous method to kill WhiteNight even faster.

The only issue with this method is how tedious it is. It can take a LOT of retries to get it set up perfectly. If your facility is big, it can take a while to get WN in the right department, and when you add on the fact that you not only have to take the time to reach a midnight ordeal but also win a 1/3 chance that it'll be green, it can be time-consuming. Not to mention that after many retries, WhiteNight can mess up your abnormality placement and bring WHITE damage-type abnormalities into places they weren't originally, which, depending on the abnormality, could mean more retries *cough Blue star *cough*

If you get lucky though, this method is perfectly viable and honestly preferable to the other methods, so I'd recommend giving it a try once or twice and if it doesn't work out, then try another one.
End
Thanks for reading this guide, I've never made one before so hopefully it was able to help a little. On my first playthrough, I was aiming for 100% abnormality dissolution so I was unaware that WhiteNight had an E.G.O weapon and decided to do a day-1 reset, which made a majority of the other guides I could find inapplicable to my situation. I hope that this can be able to help other players who are in the same situation as me.

As always, make sure to immediately use the memory repository on the pause menu after beating WhiteNight. DO NOT retry the day or click the blue button on the top after your employees have died, as you will lose your newly received E.G.O weapon. Assuming that your day was close enough to the previous memory repo and you had the recommended suppressions done, you should be able to beat WhiteNight with little to no consequences.

With that, I wish you luck on trying to obtain the E.G.O weapon!

even easier method: make the 12th apostle panic before they get turned, and make them kill it

One thing I want to mention should anyone try Green Midnight; the apostles can and WILL kill the tower if you give them the chance to. I was unlucky to have the tower spawn above White Night, but it got even worse when 3 of the 11 hostile apostles decided to pummel the tower to death.

I would've eventually won anyway with Queen of Hatred, but unfortunately she telefragged my last employee and soft-locked me as the heretic was non existent, and angela didn't show up to say "damn... sucks to suck"
