By Zesty
You're not going to get the Tinker with Wands Everywhere Perk early on in most runs. Here's some alternative tools and strategies.

The main strategy is to not collapse the Holy Mountains which would disable tinkering, but that's not your only option. This guide collects strategies for getting by without the tinkering perk while still having some degree of wand editing available.

This guide contains light spoilers of secret locations.
Teleport past the Boundary
If you, personally, travel through this red boundary highlighted here, the Holy Mountain will collapse.

So, teleport right through it by carefully aiming a teleport spell to the back of the tunnel. Teleport Bolt and Small Teleport Bolt both work for this.

You can also try Teleportatium, or use Long-Distance Cast Mod with your tele wand.

Return, Drop-off Wands in Exit Portal
You can use Return to drop off wands in the next Holy Mountain. Cast it before entering the portal, drop off a wand (or drop off spells), and then get return-teleported back.

Dig Carefully through the Holy Mountain
The red line is the boundary for digging. If you dig through a pixel on the red line, you will piss off the gods.

A closer look.

Don't forget the boundary you'll break if you physically move through the open space.

You do have a sliver along the left side that you can dig your way through using, say, a Plasma Cutter.

Just Dig through the Holy Mountain (and Steve)

Steve isn't hard to kill with a simple trick, or after you've built a strong wand.

(sorry about quality. Steam image limit is 2mb)

Poly past the boundary
If you have no other options, but have access to Poly... well, you don't count as yourself when poly'd so you can pass the boundary without collapsing the mountain. Just be wary of being immediately killed on the other side.

Hollow Egg Shenanigans
Pretty niche situation, but Hollow Egg might be able to be used. Hollow Egg can store a spellcast. Store Return and toss the egg through the boundary, or maybe upwarp it through the ground. I had a hard time getting upwarping to work for a gif but your mileage may vary.
Sauvan Ydin
If you're having a great run and can go handle some extracurricular bosses, go grab the Sauvan Ydin (Wand Core) from the Master of Masters. While being held, it gives you the ability to Tinker with Wands.
Christmas, Kantele Room
During Dec 23-27, the Kantele Room (music room inside the giant tree) will allow Wand Tinkering.

Temporary Locations
• The first time you're in the Fishing Hut portal in a playthrough, you'll have Wand Tinkering

• Ditto for Meditation Chamber, lasting 10 minutes. Digging out, pre-casting teleport/return before entering, or traveling through the exit portal while poly'd will let you Wand Tinker for the whole 10 minute duration.

Yes, achieving a god run does invalidate the need for these. But that's the point. This guide is specifically how to manage this need in the early game.

I'd recommend also adding travelling to parallel worlds until you find tinkering. Much easier and more consistent than some of these methods.

this run I didn't had any teleport or trigger spells on first HM, so i had to use the hollow egg + return.

I had to train my aiming first, but it worke like a cahrm

if you dont wanna deal with angering the gods, use the "peace with gods perk" it will stop them from attacking you and become your friend. or kick the test dummies at steve for quick kills.

My favorite way to kill Steve is polymorph field, which is quite common in the first holy mountain. I just did a run where I put a damage plus on one to instantly poly-kill him. Best part about this method is that it doesn't count as a Steve kill for the Scott counter, so as long as you keep killing polymorphed Steves, Scott will never spawn.

I also found out that if you didn't get any teleport bolts, you can use a sparkbolt with trigger and return on a non-shuffle wand (i think that almost any spell with trigger or timer will work)

actually didnt know about the return wand trick, ima try that next time i boot up the game, here i was thinking return was mostly useless without something like long distance cast
