Chameleon Carnotaurus(The Lost World Style): How To Play/Create One in Primal Carnage Extinction
โดย The Black Death
This is a guide describing how to create and how to play as a Lost World-style Carnotaurus with the Chameleon camouflaging ability that it has in the novel, something the fans of Jurassic Park such as myself have wanted to see for the long. So why not do it in the only way we know how with Primal Carnage of course?

Introduction : What is a Chameleon Carnotaurus?

This polygon nightmare you see here is an old interpretation of Michael Crichton's take on the Carnotaurus in his novel "The Lost World", within the old arcade game also called "The Lost World: Jurassic Park", the only interpretation we got for this creature outside of it's novel form. This interpretation of the Carnotaurus in the novel had the ability to camouflage it's body to perfectly blend in within it's environment, with this ability being so good it could perfectly mimic complex shapes like a chain link fence for example. Making this ambush-orientated predator one of the most dangerous creatures in the series, at least during night time where this camouflage was only able to be beaten due to light, but still let us know that this mutation with the dinosaur made it a threat to be acknowledged by the Velociraptors in the novel, and even the Tyrannosaurs. This interpretation was wildly beloved and was vastly demanded to be in the film by the fans, only for Steven Spielberg to disrespect Michael Crichton and turn his novel into a cookiecutter mess. So for years the fans have wanted to see this interpretation come to the big screen, or at least in some other form of media, which we got with the arcade game briefly, but even that wasn't good enough.

Decades later we still haven't gotten it besides some skins and mods for a few JP games, but I have now found myself able to bring this idea to some kind of light within Primal Carnage Extinction, especially thanks to the mutation system they've added some years back while I was away from the game. So I will be starting on describing what skins and colors to use to make a Chameleon-type Carnotaurus, and afterwards I will describe the playstyle and tactics you will use for this idea to make this happen as best as we can.
Part 1: How to make this work=Skins
In order to pull this off, especially since we can't actually turn invisible as the Carnotaurus in game, we will have to actually use certain skins and patterns to blend in with the foliage to actually camouflage. While you really could use this same method with any other Dinosaur of course, the idea is for the Carnotaurus primarily and as a way you can make something like this happen.
Creation, is an act of sheer will!

For Skins it's rather simple really, you want to use skins that'll blend in with a lot of the green foliage in the different maps(snow maps not withstand), along with blending in super well with night time maps and dark corners of maps where you can spring an attack. Quite a few of the green skins will work, but here's a list I formed of a few I've tried that work pretty well for what we're going for, especially as Chameleon-inspired skins.

Skins to use : Diopside Carno, Thornytail Carno, Floral Carno, Rainforest Carno, Frog Carnotaurus, Jackson Carnotaurus, Saline Carnotaurus, Blood Fern Carno, Tutitoad Carno, Algae Carno, Whiplash Carno, Speckled Carnotaurus, Floodplain Carnotaurus, Corroded Carno, Veiled Carno, Chameleon Carno, Uranium Carno, Pestilence Carnotaurus, Skullcrusher Carno, Redwood Carno, Rouge Carno.
(and maybe Kelp Carno)

For examples of some of the skins I've listed here :

Floral Carno(tinted fully green)-Store Only

Thornytail Carno(tinted darker)-Drop/Market

Speckled Carnotaurus(tinted green)-Drop/Market

Blood Fern Carno(tinted darker)-Drop/Market

Diopside Carno(tinted fully green)-Drop/Market

Saline Carno(tinted green)-Drop/Market

Rainforest Carno(tinted green)-Drop/Market

Chameleon Carno(tinted fully green)-Store Only

Jackson Carnotaurus(tinted fully green)-Store Only

Uranium Carno(tinted green)-Store Only

Floodplain Carno(tinted green)-Store Only

Rouge Carno(tinted fully green)-Drop/Market

Skullcrusher Carno(tinted fully green)-Drop/Market

Redwood Carno(tinted fully green)-Drop/Market

Pestilence Carnotaurus(tinted greener)-Drop/Market

Part 2: How to make this work=Mutations
Really the key part of the look to be honest, just besides the skins, these will make you look like an overgrown chameleon or a chameleon-looking Carno, both of course work perfectly fine for whatever you prefer really.
For this you should stick with only these 3 select choices exclusively(or maybe 4 if you include one extra one). Also all of which are store-only and not drops unfortunately.

Pochovus Mutation

You really can't go wrong with this one unless you want a more chameleon-esque look, but this one is probably the more Lost World arcade game-like with the bulging eyes whenever you activate the Carno's roar ability if you prefer. Also was my first pick initially.

Pardalis Mutation

This one is also rather good if you want a more Chameleon look overall, even if the horns aren't accurate, this'll still be a really good pick for the Chameleon eyes it has.

Brutus Mutation

This one should be a good pick if you want longer horns and probably a more monstrous horror-esque look for your Carno, you really can't go wrong with this one either.

Optional
Juvencus or Innatus Mutation

If you want to make a mix between the arcade Lost World Carno and the juvenile Carno from the Lost World PS2 game, or even a paleo-accurate body Carno, then this could work as long as you use the proper skins for it.

These mutations you can only get from the in-game store but they aren't always on sale however, so try to be patient and see when they go on sale or have someone trade them with you if they don't want them. These mutations really do make the skins what they are and fleshes out this idea completely which is what really inspired me to make this guide.
Part 3: Gameplay Tips & Playstyle
So now that you have the skins and mutations down, now you'll need to know how to properly play this creature and how you can possibly pull off this idea. So it's quite simple really as you see here in this few steps I'll be showing to you all in this step.

As the camouflaging part wasn't obvious enough, you will be using your green(or brown/white) skin to blend into your enviornment, mainly bushes and other foliage around you and wait for potential prey to come by. While we can't actually turn invisible, this is literally our best option for this and it can work rather well if you play it smart and no one is able to actually see you in said foliage.
I shouldn't have to even mention this but I will anyway, this idea works even better on night-time maps of course, as even the actual Lost World Carno's camo also worked best at Night as well, just stay away from bright lights however...

Since you will be playing a very hit-&-run playstyle already with Carnotaurus, this shouldn't be too much of a problem, be sure to target stragglers or lone targets that shouldn't cause much of a threat to you alone and don't just rely solely on charging, make sure you use your bites and headbutts with the secondary attack of the Carno. But you will need to be EXTRA vigilant with spotting your prey when an opportunity to strike presents itself, as a Carno you will have to gain momentum to catch and kill your prey quickly or run if in danger, as the Carnotaurus is lacking in armor and can be easily melted if you are targeted by more than one person. But do not be afraid to sneak attack a group of unsuspecting players in a group with a quick charge, just make sure to use your roar ability before or while you charge to heal from any damage that gets inflicted to you by charging said group of players before running off to recover, or hide once more for your next attack if you haven't taken any serious damage at all. This tactic can definitely help your dino teammates in causing a distraction and damage to the human team if they are too closely grouped up, even if you don't get any kills necessarily, you can still get assist credit for your efforts.

The difficulty curve for this playstyle is tough but the results will show once you get the hang of it, and it can even aid your teammates if they are struggling at times, not to mention the scares you will give the human team if you pull it off well.
Part 4: What To Avoid/The Dangers of a Camouflaging Carnotaurus
So this part is quite simple really, and is somewhat of an extension of the previous part in terms of gameplay, where this will show you what you're weak to and what to look out for.

Threat 1:
Large Groups

This kind of goes without saying, but going against a group of human players solo and having to tank all damage isn't going to work out for you, especially as a Carno. So it's best if you can try to avoid larger groups, and especially groups of 3 unless they've already taken some damage already and you can get the drop on them swiftly, so don't be afraid to charge the enemy team from behind to pull this off much easier. On top of that you really do want to be in a good spot where you can retreat to swiftly in all cases here to avoid getting targeted and melted after a charge attempt or failed ambush, so be sure to know your environment and look out for cover, as well as potential larger groups coming in to save their ally with you as the main target.
Kind of standard for most really, but definitely needs to be said to make sure you avoid targeting a person you think is alone and vulnerable when attempting an ambush.

Threat 2:
Pyros/Getting Set on Fire

Probably your biggest enemy with this playstyle is getting set on fire with anything really, not alone will it prevent you from eating if you manage to get away to a carcass, but it will effect your body and allow you to take increased damage as you light you up like a christmas tree to prevent you from hiding, even after you manage to get away and the flames extinguish, as you will become charred and that will also hinder your ability to camouflage with most foliage in most cases. Avoid prolonged engagements with Pyros at all cost if you can't kill them alone or quickly enough, especially since their flames can melt you with easy the longer they hit you, and watch out for potential nade shots from other Humans that can set you on fire while at a carcass trying to heal most of all.

Threat 3:
Sensor Mines

Kind of obvious really, you DON'T want to be seen in all cases so watch out for these most definitely, as you would all mines, but these ones will just prolong your pain if anything.
Congrats!

You are now a Chameleon Carnotaurus in the lost world that is Primal Carnage Extinction!
I've just started playing the game again just recently but I've found this playstyle to be so rewarding and fun at the same time that I couldn't help but not share it, especially since I was always a fan of the Lost World Carnotaurus and felt inspired to make this idea come true somehow. I just hope the devs for this game somehow fix the terrible charger limit they've imposed since I last played years ago, as that's really not helped in my Carno playtime overall, and just chargers not being able to help in smaller populated matches these days, but at least I've had enough time to make this guide with my time in the game.
