Tales of the Narrow Sea - A CK3AGOT Submod

Description
[Disclaimers]
Compatability - Has been tweaked to maximize compatibility. Should not conflict with other mods as long as CKIII AGOT is present.
Added debug option for adding to a current save game although removing mod may act weird first time playing but shouldn't break a save.
Submod is in early beta and is prone to bugs: Please let me know when you encounter them in the discussion post marked bugs

Tales of the Narrow Sea 汉化

Tales of the Narrow Sea
Tales of the Narrow Sea - they've spread far and wide; scorned second sons, exiled princes, pirate kings, exotic maidens most fair. Many have heard these tales, though mayhaps there are more stories here to be told...

Tales of the Narrow Sea is an unofficial submod for CK3AGOT with the aim of adding more RP and flavor elements into games. All current startup events are intended for the Crowned Stag Bookmark and are also available to the AI.

Set Sail Across the Narrow Sea
What good is a port without trade?

The Set Sail decision is available to those living along the Narrow Sea, (and soon to other major westerosi port cities). You can trade, smuggle or fight piracy (mayhaps commit some piracy?).

Trade Goods: Each region has their own goods (most have 4) for trade with different bonuses and boons. If Stepstones Safety is high, then you can trade to get access to Essosi goods or else be satisfied with goods from Westeros. Trade will give your capital a trade boon and some gold, as well as a bonus for the trade partner.

Anti Piracy: This is the main mechanic for raising Stepstones safety. If you successfully defeat a pirate crew then Stepstones Safety will rise and you will earn some prestige for your efforts.

Piracy: For those who live a less noble life, you may strike intercontinental shipping lanes. If you successfully deprive a vessel of their goods then Stepstones Safety will decrease and you'll gain some gold for your efforts.

Meeting with the Master of Ships: Every 3 to 5 years, the King will meet with his Master of Ships to determine the policy for the royal navy. They can either facilitate trade with Pentos or commit to a large scale anti piracy campaign to raise Stepstones Safety.

Stepstones Safety: Stepstones Safety is a variable that determines how safe travel is across the Narrow Sea. It is boosted from anti piracy campaigns and royal policy and lowered by smuggling and piracy. There is a game rule for how safe/unsafe it is at the beginning although it is dynamic and will change throughout the course of a game. If you add the mod mid save the debug decision will set it to 75 to start (very safe). It can be monitored via minor decision.
[The Set Sail features are very new and involve a ton of code for a one person team. While I have other plans for it, a lot slips through the cracks. Please put suggestions and bug reports for this in the discussions.]

If you live along the the Narrow Sea you may have an opportunity to create a tale sung for the ages
These dangerous acts will almost certainty lead to your doom, but can carry great boons should you succeed. Some sail out for fortune, aiming to find great riches. Others sail out for fame, seeking glory at all costs. Many who aim too high die out on the sea, often forgotten where they otherwise may have made a mark. How will you be known among along seas?

The Tales of the Narrow Sea Decision is available for those living on the coast of the Narrow Sea. Going on tales can greatly increase gold or prestige, grant nicknames, powerful traits, and disease, or can otherwise lead to their untimely deaths. [Receiving a complete overhaul a couple weeks after dragon update]

I haven’t tested it since the update but it doesn’t rely on much now and shouldn’t break post update

It should but atm it doesn’t have an option to trade with bravos yet
Gunk_Bunkus Apr 7 @ 12:03pm
does this still work with the Braavos update? Trade and commerce seems like the one missing piece for the free cities gov

update?
IGotACouch  [author] Aug 30, 2024 @ 1:34pm
Next update that will be fixed. I miswrote the option and the character wasn’t getting the benefits for the event.

Thanks, appreciate it :-)

Another mod shouldn’t break that event because it doesn’t rely on anything. I will check later today and see what the issue is.

I don't think so, I'm using this submod collection and have put the narrow sea mod at the bottom.
IGotACouch  [author] Aug 28, 2024 @ 8:28am
It is not. Did you get a follow up event after you pressed the option?
Meisterstratege für Arme Aug 28, 2024 @ 3:38am
I'm currently playing the mod with the dragon update, but whenever I got for the set sail decision and its says that I looted ships I don't get any benefits/gold. Is that intentional?
