Red Dead Online - Solo Lobby (+Friends) 2025!

A quick way to make an ONLINE and HACKER FREE Lobby in 2025!

The first thing you'll want to do is head to the pastebin link provided
here you'll want to copy or download the text tile and open it.
once you have it open scroll down to the bottom and you'll see
"anything typed here is your password! replace this with text with something unique!"
make sure the password is ACTUALLY unique, don't do something simple.
PablosChickenAndSteakBakery. is an idea I come up with. something COMPLETELY out of the blue.

once you have the password you chose, save the file and change the file to type "all files"
rename it from "rdr2.txt" to "startup.meta"

Next go to your RDR2 Install folder. where ever you installed the game.
if you don't know how to do that, right click on your RDR2 in your steam library - go to properties and browse file location.
Take that file and PASTE IT in the Red Dead Redemption 2 / x64 / data.

Launch game and enjoy having no hackers.
if you want people to join you, share the same file you have or give them the EXACT password, spelling, capitals, all of it.

if you ever wish to RETURN TO ONLINE (Without the protection, idk why you would) simply remove the file or take it out of the data folder.

If you're having the "remove modified game files" Im..not sure what's giving that issue, Im not encountering it when running the game, you could have left over mod files or mod menus (single player im assuming and we'll say its single player) and its registering those, which you'll have to remove any modded files, EXCEPT THE PAST BIN YOU HAVE FROM THIS GUIDE.
THAT CAN STAY IN ITS LOCATION DESCRIBED ABOVE. the game doesn't register it a modded file and shouldn't give any issues.

mod?? this isn't technically a mod, more so cheating the systems coding xD, and maybe try a shorter password.
I dont know if having an extremely long password will affect it.

I also can not confirm if this works on other launchers other then steam.
also any other mods have to be removed im guessing, even re-shaders.

if all doesn't work, im not entirely sure, this is an old trick I learned and the original creator's video I dont know responds to comments anymore.
I also haven't been able to replicate the bug people keep commenting about. which is the "I can't load into the game" so im not sure how to help on that part.

Fresh install, added the file with a 30 character "password" and now on startup it logs into Rockstar and then goes to a black screen with ambient background music but no logo. Does the first launch after mod take a long time?

if you're running through anything other then steam, it could be causing issues.
as I know some user's have red dead through the rockstar launcher. which Im not sure if the file edit will work the same.

Seems like it doesn't work for me atleast, I have tried to remake the password, change the line formation of the password and anything else I can think of - but it just doesn't work for me since I get placed into lobbies with other people.

Anyone ran into this before? and for anyone asking, the password I put was fairly unique comprising of words with no relevancy to each other, even threw in different numericals just to be sure.
