The required items are only there if you want a challenge, they are not required for this mod to work.

This mod ONLY works in singleplayer or local servers.

This mod aims to restore the fear everyone had back in 2008-2009 into her, making her a more challenging infected to encounter if you aren't skilled. This will make her feel like like an actual threat, or boss, if startled.


The Witch was always meant to be a dangerous, "optional" threat, an enemy with the exception of "shoot everything that moves", as said in the L4D1 commentary for the Witch's speech bubble.

Instead of being a danger, she is killed in one hit from shotguns, or killed too fast before she even reaches her target if everyone is shooting at her. You can solo a Witch with just a sniper rifle if you don't miss shots and is far enough.
Even if she does reach someone, she usually dies before mauling or killing the survivor, and everyone forgets that encounter a minute later because all it does is waste a medkit, there's no repercussions for startling a Witch on low difficulties except Expert and Realism, who both have their own issues; with expert having the crowning mechanic in effect for the head, and Realism preventing Witches from breaking doors.


Most guns lose their efficiency against the Witch due to the buffed HP. Better hope your team has a molotov, melees or shotguns (they still do high damage when close to her, but not enough to crown).
In addition to all of this, she takes longer to die to fire, as it was too easy to just toss fire at her and run. Now she puts up a fight.

There are still ways to kill her easily if you're skilled enough, like blocking her path, 4 melee hits, molotov-n-run, stumble-bash, or even using the fact she is mauling someone to get close to her and do a lot of damage with a shotgun. Doesn't work as well if you use "multi-hit", as she can hit nearby survivors while mauling her target, although this mod's decreased attack range helps get closer to her when she does that. It was also to make fighting her more fair, as her default attack range is too long I feel.

MISC
Health: 1000 ---> 3000 (Sustains more damage, resists crowning and being shot a lot more)
Speed: 300 ---> 320 (Now she has exactly 100% more speed than a healthy survivor's 220, Tank being 210)
Attack Range: 60 ---> 45 (This is a downgrade, but makes it more fair fighting against her, og range is bs)
Burn Time: 15 ---> 27 (The Witch dies after 27 seconds, the exact length of her burning music, "witchroast")

SITTING
Normal Threat Range: 300 ---> 325 (She sees you from slightly further away)
Hostile Threat Range: 600 ---> 10000 (She gets angry from much further away if you're attacking in her line of sight)
Flashlight Range: 400 ---> 10000 (She gets angry from much further away if you are looking in her general direction with your flashlight turned on)
Relax Rate: 0.05 ---> 0.035 (Takes a bit longer for her to calm down, slowly goes back to crying)

WANDERING
Personal Space: 240 ---> 250 (She detects nearby survivors from slightly further away)
Hearing Radius: 72 ---> 150 (If attacking with melee or shooting within this range, she will be startled instantly, even if not directed at her)
Personal Time: 10 ---> 5 (You can only be near the Witch for 5 seconds instead of 10)

RETREATING
Retreat Min Duration: 10 ---> 15 (She takes slightly longer to despawn while retreating, possibly allowing her to push you off a cliff or run into a fire you set somewhere else)
Retreat Hidden Duration: 10 ---> 15 (Same as above, but when out of sight)
Retreat Exit Range: 1000 ---> 10000 (Allows the Witch to go further away from the survivors while retreating)


MISC/BONUS
Minimum Witch Music Range: 360 ---> 400 (The volume of the sitting music is this loud within this range, so her music is slightly louder within 40 more units with this mod compared to default)
Maximum Witch Music Range: 1800 ---> 3000 (How far you can hear the Witch's music in units, you can now hear her sitting music from much farther away to allow you to prepare, and to signify she is more deadly)
Witch Light: 1 ---> 0 (Disables the red light on the Witch, makes her harder to notice in dark areas)
Witch Turret Damage: 16 ---> 10 (Makes the miniguns do slightly less damage to the Witch)

Her health was lowered to 3000 from 5000. As I thought it was a bit too much hp. To compensate, the Witch is now uncr0wnable, so she does not take extra damage from shotguns at close range, so going close to her while she is mauling a survivor will no longer make her die as fast as before. She still takes the shotgun's intended damage (around 250), which is still a good way to kill her if you got an auto shotgun or a spas.

I was thinking of making an SCP-096 witch mod. Pairs well with Improved Witch AI as "096" could break open the door.

Can't wait to get some funny clips of my squad getting fucking destroyed by the witch also modified it to 200k cause I use a scp 096 script for the witch basically makes her invincible and not gonna lie I have had funny moments doing so

I mean, skill issue? If you don't like it, then don't use it. It's not meant for people that aren't good at strategies or at killing Witches. It's meant for experienced players that can deal with infected very well.

If you have no one in the team with shotguns, yet it is. Yet, the Witch is meant to be avoided. They were originally more dangerous, now people think she's a joke and instantly kill her.
If she's in the path, you've got Magnums, AKS or Snipers that can stun a sitting witch in the head, or you can throw a molotov and run, or kill them in 4 hits with melee. You've also got ladder tricks.
I don't have a problem with my Witch having 5000 hp, all survivors need to focus her or avoid her (like how she was meant to be).
