Pins are the decoration of the player's profile avatar. This is a small icon that hangs in the corner of the avatar and shows that the owner can spend a dollar or two. Although it was the rarest and noblest thing.
Initially, badges were only sold at official Valve events - Majors. There, by purchasing a physical capsule in the store, you could get a random badge. I mean, a real badge that can be hung on your bag, cap, purse or anywhere. The capsule also contained a code that could be redeemed in-game to receive the same icon as an avatar decoration. Thus, at the dawn of Counter-Strike, when I saw a player with a pin in public, it immediately became clear - he had been to a LAN tournament!

But then, Valve released a digital capsule, even several series with different icons. And this broke the entire economy of pins, but more importantly, their prestige and coolness.

And then, in 2019, after the Berlin Major, Valve stopped selling physical capsules. How to get a badge in СS? You can still buy an endless number of cases with pins in the game, and hence their low price, demand and interest. There are a lot of them on the site, you can buy any of them for different prices (of course, there are rare ones too - but even the most expensive badge costs only $70)

What types of pins are there?

Regular (regular) and Genuine (genuine). The first ones drop from packages, but the second ones could only be obtained by purchasing a physical badge in stores during the Major. They are not exchangeable and are tied to the account, so they have no trading meaning - only respect. But there are very few owners of such pins.


There are three pins collections and a HL: Alyx pin pack.

Series 1 includes pins with logos of popular maps of 2015: Nuke, Train, Militia, Italy, Mirage, Inferno, Dust 2. There are also unremarkable general CS:GO themed icons – Guardian, Tactics, Victory;

Series 2 is already more interesting: here are icons from the Operations capsule released at the time of release; cards Cache, Cobblestone, Office, Overpass; as well as two rare ones - Chroma and Valeria (one of the most expensive);

Series 3 includes: Guardian, Canals, Welcome to the Clutch, Death Sentence, Inferno 2, Wildfire, Easy Peasy, Aces High, Hydra, Brigadier General, Howl Pin. Of course, the cs go Howl badge is the most expensive in the game;

What are the badges for?

Yes, in general, only as profile decoration. This is a low-liquid asset for investment, it is not easy to distinguish it, and due to the ability to endlessly buy capsules for any player, there is no price for them.

But physical badges are a cool thing. IRL capsules can still be bought on some eBay or Amazon, but it will not be cheap. However, they look very cool!
