Element chart
First, let's understand the elements, as pal supported abilities mostly revolve around these:

Each element does more damage to its counter-element and less damage to its anti-element and the same element.

Attack type
Extra damage dealt to
Less damage dealt to
Grass
▲ Ground pal
▼ Fire & Grass pal
Ground
▲ Electric pal
▼ Grass & Ground pal
Electric
▲ Water pal
▼ Ground & Electric pal
Water
▲ Fire pal
▼ Electric & Water pal
Fire
▲ Ice & Grass pal
▼ Water & Fire pal
Ice
▲ Dragon pal
▼ Fire & Ice pal
Dragon
▲ Dark pal
▼ Ice & Dragon pal
Dark
▲ Neutral pal
▼ Dragon & Dark pal
Neutral
▼ Dark & Neutral pal

How does it work?
A pal typically belongs to 1 or 2 type(s) of element, these element(s) remains unchangeable,
for example:

Extra damage taken from
Less damage taken from
Fire attack
Dragon attack
Dark attack

Technically, Chillet takes extra damage from Fire & Ice elemental attack and take less damage from Dragon & Dark element attack and also its same Ice & Dragon elements.
Interestingly, because he receives both extra and less damage from Ice element, therefore it does not take into effect.

There are many skills available, each skill represent an element of its nature of your choice:

As you can see, there are 3 skills of Ground, Grass and Neutral type.
Meaning the pal who is equipped with these can deal extra damage to Electric, Ground pals and deal less damage to Grass, Fire, Dark pals respectively and also its same element pals.

Hopefully it's not too confusing,
your brain cells have been working hard,
chillax for a moment as it will work even harder . . .
