Bugged achievements have been fixed

3 achievements (Welcome To The Underlands, Cartographer, Master Cartographer) used to be bugged but should now get unlocked retroactively if you meet the requirements.

Are there missable or mutually exclusive achievements?

Yes. There are two sets of mutually exclusive story achievements and multiple mutually exclusive achievements tied to side quests + one achievement requires to reach a certain point of the game without dying, and another requires to beat the game in Hard Mode.

How many playthroughs are required to unlock all achievements?

Two. Or one, if you backup your savefile at the right points (which you probably should do either way, considering the amount of bugs in the game).

Seriously, do yourself a favor and backup your savefile

Dread Delusion is a great game but unfortunately it is littered with bugs, some of which can permanently ruin your playthrough since the game keeps a single autosave per character. I'm not joking, if your save gets ♥♥♥♥♥♥ - it's most likely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ for good.
So while devs are working on ironing out game breaking bugs - backup your savefile every once in a while as a preventive measure.

I. Game Modes: Missable

Iron Will
Missable!


Can be obtained in Normal Mode. This achievement requires reaching a certain part of the game (NOT the ending!) without ever dying before, specifically a mandatory encounter with the Unnamed God after meeting Vela in the Underlands.

This is easier to achieve than it might sound, as enemies in the game barely deal any damage. If you happen to die it definitely won't be in combat. Keep Return Home spell equipped to be able to save yourself from fatal falls (or just exit to the main menu), make sure not to stand directly below any descending elevators, and maybe also occasionally backup your savefile - in case floor collision decides to take a break from its job. It does that from time to time.


Hardened Confessor
Missable!


Complete the game in Hard Mode. List of changes from the developers' patch notes:

• Increased enemy health by 50%
  
• Increased enemy damage by 50%
  
• Enemies respawn much faster
  
• Stamina regenerates 20% slower.
  
• Mana cost increased by 10%
  
• Fatigue build-up increased by 25%
  
• Potions must be bought or crafted. They no longer drop from enemies.
  
• Enemy rare drop rates halved.
  
• Herbs take an additional day to regrow.
  
• Enemy placement has been changed.

These achievements get unlocked automatically and can be ignored.

II. Story Achievements: Missable

There are two sets of mutually exclusive endgame story achievements.
If you want to get all four in one run then don't pass the Charm skill check in the Underlands (or you'll get permanently locked out of an achievement), then backup your savefile before the final encounter. Pass the check and pick an ending -> restore the savefile -> don't pass the check and pick the other ending.


There Is Another Way
Missable! This achievement and A Legendary Clash are mutually exclusive

1. Complete sidequest "The Whispers of Ghosts".
   
2. Speak to Vela about her sister either in the Underlands or later in the Cradle and pass a 75 Charm skillcheck.
   
3. The achievement will unlock in the last encounter.

A Legendary Clash
Missable! This achievement and There Is Another Way are mutually exclusive

1. Do not speak to Vela about her sister.
   
2. The achievement will unlock in the last encounter.

Pick up a Delusion.



Delusion’s Embrace

Spend 18 Delusions to increase your attributes.



How Long Will You Be Staying?

Awarded after the passage of 10 ingame days.



Make Your Mark

Find an Academy Scholar, then use the Cartography Notebook that you get from them to mark a landmark.


Cartographer

Complete the map. See the list of maps here.



Master Cartographer

Record every single landmark. See the list of landmarks here.



True North

Buy the Compass in Pwyll, then equip and activate it.



Suddenly I See

Find the Telescope, then equip and activate it.



No Room In Hell

Find and cast one of spells that summon a skeleton.



Lotions and Potions

Brew a potion.



Alchemical Aptitude

Brew an elixir.



Over The Limit

Drink alcohol.



You Can’t Handle the Truth

Drink a Truth potion.



Better Than Rags

Upgrade a piece of clothing.



All Dressed Up

Fully upgrade a piece of clothing.

Purchase Thornwood Manor from a Union clerk in Hallow Town.

Purchase a house from a shopkeeper in Sepulchre.

Find the Emberian Armour on Aristide's Rock and upgrade it.

Can't get the Alchemical Aptitude achievement. I made all 4 elixir's and nothing happened. Is there a solution?

That is a scripted death, Vela kills you regardless of whether you passed that Charm check or not. But for the Iron Will achievement to unlock that has to be your very first death. If you had never died prior to that event, then either it's a bug, or the achievement's requirements were changed without its description being altered.

I don't remember whether scripted death shows up in your gameplay stats screen or not, so the only thing i can suggest is asking other players on the official discord server and submitting a bug report.

I did not get Iron Will upon meeting Vela in the Underlands, as I did not pass the skillcheck she killed me in dialogue. I then spawned at the Death God. Pretty fucking mad about this after a 25 hour run, but ah well. Tip for future players doing Iron Will, make sure you pass the skillcheck I guess?
