Why I Made This Guide
Since the release of CS2 there has been a lot of discussion about the new full blue patterns for the Karambit Gamma Doppler, with two tier lists being created to try and categorise these. Since these patterns are selling for overpay on buff now I feel a tier list everyone agrees on is needed as nobody really agrees with either fully.

Slaid's Tier List:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3097401522
Coco's Tier List:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3238172187
Although both existing guides have good things about them, and were very helpful for making this guide, I think they are both flawed in their own ways (Big thanks to both for saving me a lot of time).

Slaid's guide is done completely by hand, and did fairly well at identifying the best patterns, however I found that many of the T2s and T3s are either ranked too high or should not be listed as they are too obviously green and/or purple. I feel that many of these are also not solid colours and are closer to gradients.

This is mainly what Coco's guide hoped to fix by providing a more scientific method. Although most of the top patterns are fairly consistent with Slaid's guide there are a few problems with the blue percent, and with the exclusion of many patterns outside the top 200.

Blue Percentage Issues
The main problem with blue % accuracy is the lighting in the CS2 inventory. In actual gameplay the lighting is usually quite dark or quite bright compared to the neutral lighting in the inventory inspect. This means that inspecting an skin in your inventory doesn't always give a true representation of how it will look in game especially if the skin is heavily affected by light.

This has a big effect on how green and purple appear in coco's ranking compared to in game:
  • Brighter light helps to hide/blend green into the rest of the blade, but makes any purple or dark blue stick out much more
  • Darker light does the opposite, however both colours become more visible if you look down.

Here are a two examples compared to the best pattern (547)
In game screenshots (Inferno, second mid in vs out the shadow cast by the bridge)
Despite pattern 423 being around 6.5% more blue than pattern 178, the latter has a much more consistent colour and looks better overall as the green in p178 blends in. The in game images are also not what you would expect from coco's blacked out sections.

Something else to consider here is the angle the knife is held in the viewmodel, as some of the imperfections shown in coco's guide are hidden by a blind spot where the blade and handle join.

    (Approximate area hidden in game)
How The New List Was Created
To fix the issues with the existing guides I decided to create a draft tierlist of all patterns that were at least 85% blue in coco's list. I then chose a blue % for each tier:
  • Tier 1 ~ 95% blue
  • Tier 2 ~ 90% blue
  • Tier 3 ~ 85% blue
Using this as a rough tier list I then examined all 300 patterns in the same 2 lighting conditions shown previously.

I then made more requirements for each tier and promoted/demoted several patterns based on these:

    Tier 1
  • Either green OR purple on the handle/tip (tiny amounts)
  • If a non-blue colour is on the blade it should be nearly invisible in bright lighting.
  • If the smoke creates a dark spot that doesn't blend in well the pattern is moved to T2.

    Tier 2
  • Either green OR purple and only on the handle/tip (otherwise Tier 3).
  • Both green and purple are allowed as long as purple is not visible in bright light.
(In brighter light, purple often appears as a slightly darker blue which can look fine.)
  • No excessively dark blue patterns from bad doppler smoke.

    Tier 3
  • Green and Purple allowed, as long as >85% blue.
  • If <85% blue only green is allowed (purple patterns are too dark)
  • If large amounts of purple darken the end of the blade the pattern is removed from the list.
  • If too much green in the middle of the curve the pattern will be removed

An example of a pattern I removed for being too purple (p534)
Patterns
Note: I have decided to keep these in order of most to least blue percent within each segment, as it is the only real way to say which pattern out of multiple in the same tier is better. Realistically there is minimal difference between all the patterns in the same tier especially on brighter maps like vertigo and nuke.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope people can agree with this list as I believe it is the most fair one created. Something else worth noting is that just because one pattern is ranked higher it doesn't mean it is always worth more. Having a clean corner is very important to these knives and I've seen many for buff go for a lot of overpay if they have one.

For those wondering why this list is shorter than Slaid's it's because I felt patterns less than 85% blue were too close to being a gradient than a solid blue colour which isn't consistent with the other doppler gems (It would be like calling a phase 3 doppler a sapphire).

Two Tier 3's form Slaid's list that i removed:

If a pattern that was on Slaid's list does not appear it can be considered a Gradient pattern (or Tier 4), but I don't consider these to be diamond gems.
Rarity of Diamond Gems
Since Tier 1 patterns have sold for overpay I thought I'd calculate the rarities of getting a Diamond Gem to prove that given the rarity this isn't that unreasonable for a CS2 skin.

Drop Chance
For both the Gamma and Gamma 2 cases:
  • Chance for knife = 1/390
  • Chance for Karambit Gamma Doppler = 1/30
  • Chance for Phase 1 = 23% (roughly)
  • Chance for a pattern on this list = 303/1000
  • Drop chance = 1/167,886

Since about 117 million cases were opened that can drop these knives:
    Total supply
  • Tier 1 ≈ 100
  • Tier 2 ≈ 200
  • Tier 3 ≈ 400
(CSFloat also agrees with these numbers)

From this we can see that these knives are about as rare as rubies (1/182000 chance roughly, and 900 in existence). Note that more rubies exist because more chroma cases have been opened than gamma cases.

Be aware that around 10% of these are going to be VAC banned
Total tradable supply is around 630

I guess p394 should be viewed as a Tier 2 since at the edge of the knife, only a slight of purple could be seen and it even looks like a deep blue rather than the pure purple, and it got a 89.279% of blue, compared with 412's 89.17% of blue.
There is only a total number of 184 patterns with 88% of blue. Those above this level should all be viewed as Tier2 and above.
