TF2: Quickswitch Cosmetics

A detailed guide about everything you need to know about Quickswitching.

Introduction

Have you ever noticed that some unusuals are suspiciously expensive? Have you seen someone with three unusual effects at once? Have you ever wondered how?

Well then this guide is for you!

We recently noticed that there isn't really a place with a full comprehensive guide to everything involving quickswitching, so we decided to make this, enjoy!

Regionless Miscs and Quickswitches: The Difference

Regionless* Miscs and Quickswitches both allow the possibility of using multiple unusual effects at once which is why some people may mistake Quickswitchable hats for Miscs, however they are different due to the fact that Miscs don't require the usage of a bug, where as Quickswitches do.

Both types are frequently combined together to allow for all three cosmetic slots to be unusual, or to hide unusual hats to make it look like you have an impossible item. For an example this is one of my sniper loadouts, that uses the Saxton Hale Mask as a quickswitch to cover two unusuals, one misc and one hat:

*Equip Regions

TF2 Wiki - Equip Region

Equip Region	Conflicts
Glasses	Face, Lenses, Whole Head
Whole Head	Hat, Face, Glasses

Quickswitches are cosmetics that fall under the "Whole Head" region, and Miscs can fall under a multitude of different regions, however they will not conflict with a "Hat", meaning no glitch/bug needs to be used.

By looking at the table you can see that Quickswitches shouldn't be able to be used with anything but body cosmetics, that's where the glitch/bug comes in.

First we'll go through all the hats that are quickswitchable, organized by if they can be unusual; if they are Halloween restricted; and if they cannot be unusual, but can be worn outside of Halloween events.

Next, We'll show all the statistics about quickswitch cosmetics, and then we will explain the method.

All-Class/Multi-Class

Sadly, there are no All-Class/Multi-Class Unusual quickswitch variants, but I don't even want to think what they could have been priced at... These mainly consist of Halloween restricted items, with the Dark Helm being my favourite, it's basically the "Dark Falkrik Helm", but better.

There are no All-Class/Multi-Class Quickswitches that can be Unusual. Scout

The Herald's Helm is the only Quickswitch Unusual for Scout, but it is quite hard to create a nice looking loadout without bad clipping, but Scout mains can count themselves lucky as they are not too expensive ranging from ~25 Keys and up (15/05/2024).

Soldier

Depending on who you ask, Soldier has some of the best quickswitches because they are good looking cosmetics, especially the Unusual Cranial Cowl, but you'll be paying a premium for it since it starts around 150 Keys and up (15/05/2024). However, the Unusual Whirly Warrior is much cheaper, starting at ~55 Keys and up (15/05/2024).

Pyro

Pyro's only quickswitch happens to be my personal favourite, and no one can tell me different, especially the "Ghost Rider"[en.wikipedia.org] combo which is featured in the Guide's Picture. Yet again you'll be paying an arm and leg for it though, with the Burning Flames Wandering Wraith being priced at around 2000 Keys...

Demoman

It is a good day to be a Demo main, since you guys have the most options, and some pretty good ones too! The cheapest from the three is the Unusual Blast Defense from the Rainy Day collection since it is a Mercenary Grade cosmetic, with it starting from ~20 Keys (15/05/2024).

Heavy

Heavy, like most of the classes is not very lucky with no Unusual Quickswitches to use, but he does have the legendary Chicken Kiev, a staple in TF2 Culture.

Engineer

Engineer also has no Quickswitch Unusuals, but he does have the Beep Man, so that makes up for it.

Medic

Medic has a very nice quickswitch since a three unusual combo is very much possible with the clipping not looking bad whatsoever, with an Unusual Gauzed Gaze starting from ~60 keys (15/05/2024) making it affordable too!

Sniper

Sniper has an amazing Quickswitch but this is again up for debate since some people are not fans of the Corona Australis, and if you'd like to get an unusual one... good luck! Because you'll be paying upwards of 2500 Keys for one (15/05/2024). The unique version is around 60 Keys, making it the most expensive Unique Quickswitch Item you can get.

Spy

Spy by far has the worst selection of quickswitches, with basically none, I would feel sympathetic but if you main Spy I have no sympathy for you.

Quickswitch Methods

Since it is already documented on how to get quickswitch loadouts here is the easiest Method and the one I'll be posting here, by Debonsia:

There is also a way to equip three hats that cannot usually be equipped together (this is not a quickswitch method, just another way to combine hats) you'll see bots using this technique, they use cheats however. Here is a legit method, but it resets if you die or walk into a supply cabinet.

It's mainly used by trader-mains in trade servers, here's the video by SickzMedia:
