Dying Light 100% Guide (SPOILERS) (ENG)

Guide to obtaining all achievements within Dying Light, including DLC ones.

Introduction

This guide goes into all the Steam achievements for Dying Light and how to obtain them, including DLC ones such as Hellraid and The Following. There are many easy story-acquired ones and others that require some effort.

Main Story Achievements

These are story related and are unmissable if you progress completely through the story

Flight of the Crane
Jump from the Crane
Jump off the crane at the beginning of the story

My left or your left?
Meet with Rais
Meet up with Rais in the story mission

Snake in the grass
Escape the arena
Unlocked during "Siblings" story mission

Sightseeing
Reach the Old Town
Progress in the story enough to unlock the Old Town area

Making Faces
Show the outside world that you're still alive
Progress in the story and blow up the tower to get achievement.

Tied loose end
Deal with Tahir
Progress in the story and kill Tahir

Vertigo
Activate the Amplifier
Progress enough in the story and activate the amplifier tower

Now You Can Come In
Find Camden
Progress near the end of the story and find Camden

Bittersweet
Complete the game
Beat the game

Miscellaneous Achievements

These are achievements that are either obtained passively through playing, or random enough to go out of your way to get them

Is It Really Necessary?
Kill your first infected
Self explanatory, and I would argue impossible to miss (lol). Kill a zombie.

Little Craftsman
Craft your first item
Same thing. Craft anything. Even a lockpick. Just once (lol).

Prom Night
Survive night pursuit of level two or higher
Can be done very early in the game if you are decent at parkour, start a chase with a volatile and wait for it to get high enough over level two and then go into a safe zone.

Open Sesame
Perform 10 successful Lockpicks
Should also be acquired passively through the game, just find a lot of lockpick-able chests/containers and get to cracking.

Mouths Wide Open
Kill a Volatile
Get a strong enough weapon before attempting this, I would also find a good spot where you can abuse UV light if necessary. Then hack away at a Volatile.

Can't Touch This
Kill 20 enemies in a row without taking damage
Pretty easy achievement considering there are ranged weapons, but you can also just cheese dodge and melee weapons and camo to get this easier as well.

Strong
Reach Power Prof. Lvl 10
Should be achieved passively while playing, just get your power level up to 10

I've Got Your Back
Complete 1 quest in a co-op game
A hard achievement if you have no friends or can't find games, this can either be a main quest or side quest as well.

Pheidippides
Run (move or sprint) at least 42,195 m
Should be achieved passively through playing the story/game in general, just prioritize running if you still do not have it.

Harran Shooting Club
Kill 50 enemies with shooting weapons
Can get this achievement almost half way done when doing the 20 no damage achievement, but just kill zombies/any enemy with bows/guns.

Trade Company
Sell items worth 10,000 dollars
I would grind out valuables and also everything else that can be sold, but this achievement should also be obtained passively since it is easy to get money.

Miscellaneous Achievements pt. 2

Agile
Reach Agility Prof. Lvl 10
Also can be obtained passively, just get your Agility to level 10.

Everybody Knows Kyle
Reach Survivor Rank lvl 12
Survivor rank is increased differently than agility and power, but is still easy to gain nonetheless. Just complete quests, help survivors, do challenges, survive the night, and deliver DROPS to quatermasters and you'll get up to 12 really fast.

Hush, Hush Now
Quiet a Screamer
Also obtained passively and story wise, since you encouter a Screamer later in the story and have to silence it.

Disaster Recovery
Get 15 Relief Packages
The relief packages, or Disaster Relief On-site Packages are easy to get if you farm quarantine zones but also keep an eye out for the blue Airdrop symbols throughout the map at random times.

The Legend of Harran
Reach Survivor Rank lvl 18
Same as the other Survivor Rank achievement, just grind out DROPs and missions.

Mount Everest
Climb at least 8848 meters on various objects
Same as the running achievement, but if still not obtained passively in the game just start climbing a lot to get the achievement. Grappling hook does not count.

Master Crafter
Use Blueprints at least 100 times
Also simple since any blueprint counts toward this, just craft a bunch of lockpicks.

We're All In This Together
Save 15 survivors from zombies
Run around the map either in Slums or Old Town and keep your eye open for Survivor markers, and then go out your way to help them. It is important to differentiate this is from zombies, not all enemies.

Everybody Dance Now
Simultaneously shock 5 monsters with electricity
Get a shock or electric mod on your weapon and crowd a bunch of zombies together and then hit a crit to get them all electrified.

A Game of Catch
Kill 50 enemies with throwing weapons
Craft a bunch of throwing knives or other throwing weapons and then kill 50 zombies/Rais men/or other enemies.

BBQ
Stick a burning zombie on spikes
Make a burning/flame weapon and then hit a flame crit on them to get them on fire (or any other method to get them ablaze), and then grapple them or kick them towards a set of spikes nearby.

Pearls in the Mud
Open 5 GRE chests in Quarantine Zones
Go to one of the many quarantine zones and look for GRE chests and open them. These zones are also repeatable, so you can do it multiple times if you still do not have it.

High flyer
Kill 25 enemies using Ground Pound or Drop Attack
Should also be easy to obtain, just stay on the rooftops and occasionally do a drop attack or ground pound of multiple zombies.

Bolter Hunting
Catch 5 Bolters
Explore at night and keep an eye out for Bolter markers on minimap, and then kill them five times.

Gabriel's Sword
Add a fire elemental effect to a sword or a khopesh
Add a fire mod to any sword/khopesh, it cannot be just any bladed weapon.

Blinded by the Lights
Blind 25 Volatiles with flares or a flashlight
Use either the UV flashlight or a UV flare and blind Volatiles at night.

Harran Athletics
Take part in 10 coop competitions
Get some friends together for this one, or pray online people do competitions. This competitions can be either race to waypoint or killing zombie challenges, just make sure you do up to 10 of them.

A Long Way Down
Jump to the water from the Infamy Bridge (Slums) at night
Climb to the top of the bridge on the edge of the Slums map (easier with Grappling hook) and then jump straight into the water AT NIGHT.

Judo Master
Throw 50 enemies with Grapple
An easy achievement to obtain passively once you have the grapple skill, just spam it on every zombie you see.

Robin Hood Theory
Score 10 headshots on Rais's men with a bow
Just aim well against Rais men. They also appear in certain survivor help scenarios so this achievement should also be easy to grind.

This is Harraaaaan!
Kill 100 enemies by kicking them off the rooftops/cliffs
Should also be easy to grind/achieve passively, since at least for me I know I was spamming the kick on the roof every chance I got (lol).

Lucky 7
Win 7 coop competitions
When grinding those competitions said earlier, you should also at least try and win seven to get this achievement as well if you do not have it.

♥♥♥♥ Homini Lupus Est
Save 15 survivors from Rais's men
Remember those 10 headshots you needed on Rais enemies? Now you can get them while saving survivors as well, killing two birds with one stone.

Miscellaneous Achievements pt. 3

I'm a Runner and a fighter
Complete 15 Agility or Power Challenges
More co-op challenges (RIP), just grind out agility marker ones with a friend if possible

Electrified!
Catch 25 enemies in the Electric Fence trap
Find an electric fence near a safe zone that you can grind out zombies near it

Polyamory
Complete 5 quests in a single co-op game with the same 3 partners
Get some friends for this one, cause it gonna be a bit. You got to do up to 5 quests with 3 people in the same lobby and they also need to be the SAME people.

Italian Plumber
Kill an enemy with a wrench, using Vault followed by Drop Attack
Find a wrench weapon via looting and then weaken a zombie to then give them the Plumber combo, a vault into Drop Attack.

Enlightened!
Blind 25 enemies in the Light Trap
Same thing with the electric fence, but instead grind it near a Light Trap.

Grindy Achievements

These are achievements I deem grindy, or require a lot of running around to certain places and completing tasks to finish

I have recently been using MapGenie to find collectables/locations in games, and it is a very good tool to also keep track of found locations. Here is the link below to the map for Dying Light:

The Whole Story
Finish all side quests
Go out of your way and complete all side quests that the game provides. This is only the base game as far as I know, so don't worry about needing to do The Following side quests.

Now It's Safe
Capture all Safe Zones



Above are the two maps of The Slums and Old Town safe zones, all you need to do is go to them and clear them out/capture them.

Trespassing
Complete all Quarantine Zones



Same thing here. These maps show all the Quarantine zone locations in Slums and Old Town, I would use MapGenie to track which ones I've been too.

It's All In The Writing
Find all text collectibles
The lamest collectible achievement, but you need to go out of your way and get all lost notes. These include 17 journals, 16 recordings, and 34 extra notes. I would use MapGenie for this to keep track. For note, all the recordings/voicemails are in Old Town, while the journals and notes are split between the two.

The Boy Who Could Run
Complete all Parkour Fever Challenges
Find the parkour challenges in Old Town and Slums and complete them. You don't need a certain time either, just normal completion. The locations are also provided on MapGenie under "parkour challenge"



GD Parkour Instructor
Complete all Parkour Fever Challenges at night
Same as above, but doing them at night. It is better to go out of the way and just do them all at night at first, so you get both achievements at once.

The Bozak Horde Achievements

These are achievements that are obtained either via The Bozak Horde mode or have to be completed within the mode itself

Get the Bozak
Complete Bozak's challenges
Complete all 20 Bozak Trials and win.

Together Till the End
Be the last man standing
Another friend/co-op achievement. Play the entirety of the Bozak Horde together and then be the one that kills the other player and is, hence the description, last one standing.

Bozak Horde must have been completed ONE time before attempting these next ones

Things That Go Ka-Boom
Learn how to craft Exploding Arrows
Hardest Bozak achievement in my opinion (other than the friend one) but you need to finish all the 20 trials in a certain time frame depending on player count. Which is listed below:
1 player = < 31 minutes
2 player = < 28 minutes
3 player = < 26 minutes
4 player = < 25 minutes

AussieGG has many speedrun attempts on this mode, and has even gotten down from 20 minutes to 18 minutes on a solo run. Here is his 18 minute run below:

Once you finish all the trials within the respective timeframe, you should unlock the arrows.

Electric Whisper
Learn how to craft Electric Arrows
Kill 10 virals with Bow shots with the Bozak Bow in ONE set of trials
Once the virals are killed and the trial(s) are done, you should get the blueprint after.

The Following Achievements

These achievements are obtained by doing specific things in The Following DLC

Afraid to get wet?
Dive into the Countryside.
Begin The Following DLC and dive off the cliff.

I felt your presence
Witness the Following's meeting
Continue in the story and witness the first Following meeting.

I was waiting for you for so long
Become a Faceless
Level up your faceless faction ranking via doing missions and the story, obtaining the final rank of Faceless.

And you liked him, didn't you?
Meet your old friend again
Progress in the Following story missions and get to the Lighthouse mission.

What if you picked the other one?
Make that call
At the end of story, make your own decision with the choices given. You don't need to do a specific one.

I don't approve of mindless fun
Kill 500 zombies with your vehicle
Self explanatory. Kill with the car.

You realize it's only points, don't you?
Reach Driver Rank 12.
Level up your car by just driving and also killing things with it.

Sweaty palms?
Kill a Demolisher with a car
Recommend fitting out your car with the best gear along with maxed out upgrades before attempting to kill a Demolisher with it.

Formidophobic? Interesting...
Destroy 50 scarecrows
Find one of the many open fields/farms in the game, and then keep your eye out for scarecrows to run over.

It wasn't that hard, was it?
Win Bilal's race.
You have to get first place in the first challenge Bilal gives you. If you mess up, you have to restart the DLC. If you believe you are not going to finish in 1st, just pause the game and click restart challenge.

Hellraid Achievements

These are the achievements for the Hellraid DLC (aka my least favorite of them all and also semi-hardest)

Clavis was a key all along
Put Clavis fragments into Arena
Get to the final floor of Hellraid and put all the fragments into the Arena.

Beginnings are hard
Die three times on the first floor, before first Clavis
Kill yourself (in game) on the first floor three times before even getting the first Clavis fragment.

Into the lava
Kick enemy into lava
In the deeper levels, lava will start appearing at the bottom of each floor. You can kick enemies into it to get this acheivement.

Blocked by Ba'al
Reach level 10 Hellraid rank
Simply grind out Hellraid (most painful thing I've ever done) until you get up to level 10 rank.

Time to file a tax form
Earn more than 3000 coins in one run
I gained this passively, but it is easy to do if you just keep looting bodies along with surroundings and keeping track of how much coins you are getting.

Well-read
Collect all 10 notes

Fast as hell
Finish Hellraid under 30 min
Here is a speedrun for 15 minutes of Hellraid below. It does not need to be perfect like the video is, but you can adapt the techniques and methods used to your own run and get well under 30 minutes.

Throw me a bone
Kill 50 skeletons with fall damage
This achievement is simple once you reach the deeper floors, since you can grapple them off into areas they die to fall damage.

Wake up!
Finish Hellraid on Nightmare
Stock up on medkits/med potions and decent weapons before doing a run, and then complete it as you would normally but on Nightmare. You can also use the above speedrun guide to have some tactics that can help in your Nightmare run from dying.

Non omnis moriar
Finish Hellraid with only one life left and 0 medkits
Make sure you have no health potions, and making one life BEFORE ending the run. This means you can save all three lives until close of the bossfight and then making sure you only have one left with also NO medkits.

Conclusion

Many of these achievements are simple and obtained normally throughout the game, disregarding the grindy ones. The Hellraid DLC ones also are pretty sucky, since it was such a disliked addition there is not that many guides or recordings on tips of obtaining the achievements. "Collect all" collective achievements, is just the worst in games. :D I have maybe 5-7 games that i "only", need all the collective, as of current. :P
