How to rip avatars

this is the basics if there is something you're confused on don't be afraid to ask in the comments

A heads up

The first thing I can recommend if you plan on ripping peoples avatars on a daily basis is setting a quick bar pin at this location C:Users/Youruser/appdata/localLow/vrchat/vrchat/cache-windowplayer

How to actually rip

once you have that folder open all you need to do is set by date created and the newest one is the avatar you just loaded so you click on that one and you should see "data" and "info" you want to select the data file and copy it to whatever drive you want to use for ripping

how to get the unity file

to get the unity file so you can upload it to your account is a bit tricky and will require a basic amount of knowledge in unity but you should use a app called "asset ripper" or "sars" aka ares to basically put the file into a unity pack

how to repair the avatar

the avatar will be broken and probably crash your unity so you will need to find the scripts folder and delete it which will delete the toggles but allow you to continue which is where if you have a basic understanding of unity and avatar creation you can remake the toggles as everything including meshes and sound from the avatar will still be there

how to pick which avatar you wanna rip carefully

1. some avatars do have safeguards for anti-ripping which you can essentially bypass with repair scripts

2 to pick and choose what you rip you can chose to only reveal 1 persons avatar at a time which will make it easier to take it more precisely

3. do not by any means use this guide to harass people on vrchat the only reason I am making this is so people can regain avatars they don't have the file for or so they can get a specific item from the avatar

Ripperstore has been shut down as of October 13th in 2023 so there is no real way to rip avatars without just making a redo with the assets yourself, as for finding them when you get rid of the scripts from the ported vrca file all you need to do after that is pull the meshes and sounds that you want from the avatar and just remake it after exporting the files and putting them into a different project on unity.

I used sars and arc and watched several videos and followed one step by step but it didn't work, but where can I download the ripperstore program you told me about? Because the avatars I want to recover have animations, sounds, outfit changes, etc.

the reason some did and others didn't is likely because the files corrupted, without using well made third party software or applications like what ripperstore was you're going to have to remake the toggles and what not yourself. The best thing I can recommend is watching tutorial videos and using Vrchat Creator Companion since it simplifies using unity for beginners and basically walks you through most of the stuff while outright providing plugins that are key to repairing decompressed models you rip.

Hello, I'm trying to recover avatars that I really liked and luckily I had them in the cache and with the programs and with the id I have them in .vrc. The thing is that after using Oyro to extract the .vrc content of an avatar and going to Unity, everything works fine for me and I followed a YouTube tutorial on how to fix the scripts and everything because I don't know anything about Unity and before uploading the avatar I looked at the expression wheel with a plugin and some things worked but others didn't and I don't know anything about Unity. Can someone explain to me how I can fix it and have it completely fixed?
