Gauntlet Masteries Guide. [WIP]
By gehhrald
A basic guide for the Gold rank for all the different masteries. Plus, a little personal tip on how and where I obtain these masteries.

As viewing of masteries can only be found from the main menu of the game, this guide also make it easier for players to look out for the different masteries and how to achieve Gold for it. I also understand that many people have different views and opinion, as such, if you have a better location, feel free to leave it in the comment section.

Class-based masteries
Warrior
Furious Charge
Tackle 50 Monsters using Rush

As charge do not kill the monsters in 1 hit, I usually keep charging at the same monster at a choke-point or a easier map so you will not be surrounded by other monsters plus it takes quite awhile for the charge to build up. This is where I completed the mastery. It's literally the first room you encounter in the first map.
Crypts of the Sun King I; Tombs of the Risen
And of course, you can do this anywhere else you like.

Whirling Death
Kill 12000 Monsters with Spin Attack

Just keep spinning. One tip is to create a train of monsters, spin, keep the train going while the skill is cooling down, then spin again. Repeat process till you kill 12000. Choose monsters that do not fire projectiles; preferably Mummies. Playing on Hard/Unfair definitely helps a lot as well. This is one of the location I strongly recommend. I usually down the skeleton spawner first, then proceed to lead the mummies into a train. Beware of the mummies that shoot projectile (quite a low spawn) and the explosive pink ones. You can also achieve the Mummy Slayer mastery as well.
Crypts of the Sun King III; The Palace of Khamun
And of course, you can do this anywhere else you like.

Hardened Champion
Take 15000 Cumulative Damage as the Warrior
No explanation needed. Just play the game normally and you will achieve this in no time.
Edit: Other players have suggested using the blades from Temple III or let the monsters hit you whenever you see food around you.

Valkyrie
Eye for an Eye
Block 10 projectiles with Shield Block

It is relatively easy to obtain this mastery. This is where I completed the mastery (Second room with monster on this map). Kill all the regular mummies when you enter the room. Set up your shield, stand in front of him and wait.
Do NOT take the key first as it would cause the monster spawner to spawn.
Crypts of the Sun King I; Tombs of the Risen
This is the easiest and fastest place to obtain this mastery. And of course, you can also do this anywhere else you like.

The Captain's Special
Kill 12000 Monsters with Shield Throw
Just keep throwing your shield. Similar to the Warrior's 'Whirling Death' mastery. I like to create a train of monsters, throw my shield, continue running while the shield cools down, then throw again.

Heir of Valhalla
Take 12000 Cumulative Damage as the Valkyrie
No explanation needed. Just play the game normally and you will achieve this in no time.
Edit: Other players have suggested using the blades from Temple III or let the monsters hit you whenever you see food around you.

Wizard
Accomplished Master
Take 10000 Cumulative Damage as the Wizard
No explanation needed. Just play the game normally and you will achieve this in no time.
Edit: Other players have suggested using the blades from Temple III or let the monsters hit you whenever you see food around you.

Flamewalker
Kill 8000 Monsters with Fire Spells
This one is pretty easy as well, just use any of the Fire Spells and you are good.

Frostweaver
Kill 8000 Monsters while they are Frozen or Chilled
For this mastery, it is slightly more challenging. First I use the slow freeze orb then start luring monsters into it, and kill them with either the basic fireball spell or chain lightning. This way, you can complete both mastery at once. Here is an example.

Stormcaller
Kill 8000 Monsters while with Lightning Spells
This one is easier, create a train of monster and start zapping them with chain lightning.

Elf
Precision Strike
Kill 50 Monsters with Bomb or Sniper Shot
Place bomb near spawner, run around and repeat. This can be done concurrently with the "Bombardier" mastery.

Bombardier
Kill 12000 Monsters with Bomb/Bomb Shot
This can be done concurrently with the "Precision Strike" mastery. In addition, you can create a train, place bomb and run around. I prefer placing bomb as compared to bomb shot, as the radius of explosion for the bomb shot is smaller as compared to the actual bomb placed down.

Mysteries of the Elf-folk
Take 10000 Cumulative Damage as the Elf
No explanation needed. Just play the game normally and you will achieve this in no time.
Edit: Other players have suggested using the blades from Temple III or let the monsters hit you whenever you see food around you.

Loot & Food
As Luck Would Have It...
Destroy 800 Props
Props includes, crates, torches, pots, barrel (non-explosive).

Formidable Fortune
Destroy 5000 Props
Props includes, crates, torches, pots, barrel (non-explosive).

Dropper of Crowns
Drop the Crown 200 Times
Crown spawns randomly on monsters throughout the game. When a crown is dropped, there is a short period of time for the player to pick it up again before it disappears. One tip for getting this achievement is that, everytime you have the crown and there is food around you, let the monster hit you then pick up both the crown and the food. One of the best monsters to be damaged by is the ghosts on Floor 2 of all the Crypts of Sun King maps.
You can complete a few masteries concurrently (Heroic Hunger, Cumulative Damage Taken).

Eating off the Floor
Destroy the Food 500 Times
Destroy any food you see. Do take note that if the food is on a table, sometimes basic attack would not be able to destroy it. Using your special moves (Warrior's spin attack, Valkyrie's shield throw, etc) will destroy the food easily.

Heroic Hunger
Eat food equal to 6000 health in total
Just keep eating the food. If you are on full health, let the monsters hit you so you can take the food to recover your health. This can be done concurrently with the "Cumulative Damage Taken" mastery.
Crypts of the Sun King
Mummy Slayer
Kill 15000 Mummies
One of the best location to farm for mummies is this map. There are 2 spawners and the map is big enough for the player to create a train.
Crypts of the Sun King III; The Palace of Khamun (Left Gate)

Skeleton Slayer
Kill 15000 Skeletons
There are 2 locations where I used to farm for this mastery. Both maps are big enough for the player to create a train of monster.
Crypts of the Sun King II; The Bone Barracks
Do NOT place the statue into it's position first as that would activate the 3rd spawner, which is a mummy spawner.

Crypts of the Sun King III; The Palace of Khamun (Right Gate)

Lich Slayer
Kill 50 Liches
Liches can be found at 3 locations.
  • Crypts of the Sun King II; The Bone Barracks
  • Crypts of the Sun King III; The Palace of Khamun.
  • Crypts of the Sun King III; Grave of the Torturer
This is the Lich (for those who are not sure what it is).

Cultist Slayer

Demon Slayer
Kill 15000 Demons
One of the best location to farm for demons is this map. It is the start of the map, and there are 2 spawners on Hard difficulty. The map is also big enough for the player to create a train of demon.
The Burning Temple of Dur II; The Breeding Ground

Morak Defeated
Kill The Boss of the Temple

Temple Toppler
Complete 1 of the first 3 Temple Chapters without dying on Unfair
Death
Slayer
Kill 50000 monsters
Just play through the game and you will achieve this mastery while completing other masteries (eg. Mummies Slayer, Skeleton Slayer, etc).

Dying for a Living
Die 100 Times

Explosive Exit
Die from Area Damage
This can be done in two ways. One of it is the explosive barrel, the other is the pink mummy spawn that explosdes.
The pink exploding mummy.

Suddenly Skewered
Die by taking damage from a Spike Trap
Just keep standing in the Spike Trap to take damage and die.
Crypts of the Sun King II; The Bone Barracks [/i]

Icy Tomb
Die while Frozen
The simplest way to obtain this mastery is by fighting the lich. Drop your health bar by getting hit from the normal monsters that are spawned by the lich, and wait for the beam of ice to hit you.
Crypts of the Sun King II; The Bone Barracks

Deader than Dead
Die 8 Times in one session on a single Floor

Embracing the End
Die by taking Area Damage from an Explosive Barrel that you are Carrying
Light the Explosive Barrel by hitting it, then carry it and wait for it to explode. You will need to do this twice, before achieving the mastery. This is where I completed my mastery. This is literally the beginning of the first floor.
Crypts of the Sun King II; The Bone Barracks

Seriously Severed
Die by taking damage from Blade Traps
One of the easiest place to find the blade trap is at The Burning Temple of Dur III. Just stand on the blade and you will complete this mastery.

@Pavlov - no and yes. In Slayer Edition there isn't one, in pre-Slayer edition there is one (20/18/16 seconds) and once hit, you get knocked down (90? 100% of the time? I'm not entirely sure) and you drop the crown if you had it.

There is a way to get the pre-Slayer Edition where the shield bubble for Wizard mastery is still present. I have written a guide on differences between the versions you might find interesting.

nice guide (so far). i noticed a typo (Cyrpts of the Sun King).
you should finish this for sure!
also; you can now Retry floors, so you can get to Floor 3 (for example), and just keep retrying it to easily farm quantities.
