Psvn M3U2 Ursa MBT

Beschreibung
Main Info
The Pansretvogn M3U2 Ursa MBT is a third generation Main Battle Tank. It was commissioned by the Polaran Ground Forces towards the end of 1971 with the final design being developed by Cascadia Arms around 1972 and entered service with the PGF in 1975. The U2 is the most common variant, compared to the U1 and original design, the U2 features a blowout panels, an upgraded power pack and a smoothbore 120mm T-APK-68 main cannon compared to the earlier rifled 105mm M-APK-50 seen on older Polaran MBTs.
Design
Protection
The Ursa largely uses ceramic armor across the tank with the notable exception of the turret cheeks, which in place of the ceramic armor are 2 200mm RHA plates with NERA elements between them. The upper front plate angle increases the roughly 100mm plate to a line-of-sight thickness slightly past 500mm. Side skirts are present on the sides of the vehicle to pre-detonate HEAT warheads from the side.
Cannon
The smoothbore 120mm Tung-Antipanserkanon-68 was developed as far back as 1965 as the increasing effectiveness of enemy armor started to become a concern amongst the PGF. the 105mm Middels-Antipanserkanon included in the original design and on older Polaran MBTs was becoming outdated. APDS, HEAT and HESH rounds that utilized a rifled cannon were effective, however APDS was losing its effectiveness, HEAT and HESH were being countered with composite armor and ERA. The smoothbore design of the T-APK-68 sought to solve the losing effectiveness of these rounds with APFSDS, focusing the projectile on a smaller area to increase penetration. It proved effective against enemy tanks (equivalent to T-72s and T-80s) leading to the design being commonly used even today.
Mobility
The M3 and all variants use the DT5000, a diesel turbocharged V12 engine. The transmission and sprocket has been moved to the rear with an automatic transmission maximizing the space in the cabin. These combined gives a top speed of 60km/h.
