Description
A Very Still Movement


A rainy map set on an abandoned overgrown botanical lab, with some sewer systems underneath survivors escaping from the city during the zombie apocalypse have found refuge in these derelict installations high up in the hills...

A Map I was originally gonna make for a contest in 2023 that i never ended up finishing, i decided to polish it up and publish it since iIreally liked the concept, the entire map is just kind of a flex really, I was experimenting with odd circular layouts and optimizations, trying to see how much I can push this dumb old engine.

Features:


- Really detailed surroundings
- Expansive 3d skybox
- AI nodes
- Rain with collisions!
- Dynamic detailed soundscapes
- Lots of interactive little bits
- One or two silly easter eggs
- Night mode (See below on how to toggle it)


You can trigger the nightmode by typing " ent_fire wave5_startup_relay trigger " on console
if you want to stop the music type stopsound.

There's a dragon plush in the ceiling of the chemical research laboratory. Where can I find that, since someone decided to be an a*shole and encrypt the entire level?

You need CSS for it to work. And don't buy CSS just for this map. Kind of a waste of money

@Breastie Theyre heavily modified but yes, I upped a lot of the quality of some usual hl2 model, ive thought about uploading an addon with all the upgrades ive made but i keep putting it off as i keep making new ones :winter2019happydog:

Are these vanilla hl2 materials with custom normals? You should add these as replacers for hl2 textures without, that would be insane. These look so satisfying with the subtle reflections.

@jokers trick Optimization trick, the source engine is not that great at handling open spaces so culling out smaller objects as you get further away is the best way to optimize unfortunately

does anyone know why my draw distance seem to be so low on this map for the props and grass-tufts?
