Kokoda Track Part 2 [Mission]

In July 1942 the Japanese landed at Buna, New Guinea. Except for a few air raids by the allies the landed unopposed.
Once the Japanese had established themselves at Buna they began moving inland. The plan was to advance along a small track to Kokoda which they could use to attack the Australian garrison at Port Stanley.
With growing tensions Australia sent the 49th Battalion was sent to Port Moresby in March 1941. In January 1942, the 39th and 53rd Battalions Were sent and placed under the command of the 30th Brigade.
The Kokoda Campaign was fought from July to November 1942 with the Japanese making a large advance along the Kokoda track until finally being stopped at the battle of Ioribaiwa and Imita Ridge. After witch the Japanese were practically out of food and supplies and were forced into a withdraw witch continued into the battle of Buna-Gona.
