Getting Started
Hey everyone! This is just a short guide on how to use modded maps in Project Zomboid for both solo and locally hosted multiplayer.

Where do I find map mods?
Since this guide was built specifically for my collection of compatible map mods, I'm going to say there. However, you can find plenty of map mods on the steam workshop.

  1. Subscribe to either the entire collection of map mods or pick and choose which maps you would like to play with. Great thing about this collection is that all maps are entirely compatible and don't overlap each other. Just be mindful of any individual dependencies each map has, they are all included within the collection.
  2. Subscribe to Mod Manager, if you're playing solo grab Mod Manager: Load from Collection and if you're playing multiplayer grab Mod Manager: Server
  3. Open Project Zomboid, go into mods and enable the Mod Manager mods. Press back to reload the LUA.
Solo
  1. Go back into mods, click From Collection and paste in the URL of the steam collection, check 'skip unsubscribed mods' and 'disable current active mods' (it is best to test the collection on it's own before adding in other mods).
  2. It will then prompt you that there is more than one mod for some workshop items, click OK and follow this guide[imgur.com]found in the FAQ of the collection.
  3. Click Load Order and move the following maps to the top of the list:
    1. Fort Knox linked to Eerie Country
    2. Eerie Country
    3. Road between Fort Knox and Bedford Falls
    4. Road from Monmouth County to Bedford Falls
    5. Monmouth County
    6. Bedford Falls

  4. Click OK, Accept and start a new solo game, that's it!
Local Multiplayer
Skip any steps outlined for solo above.

  1. Back in the main menu, select Host, then create a new server by going to Manage Settings > Create New Settings.
  2. Give your server a name, click Next and then Save.
  3. Go back to Mods and click Server, from there select the Server Config just created and enable the map mods you are using. When there are two options available for a mod, use this guide[imgur.com]from the FAQ of the collection.
  4. Once you have selected all of the map mods, click Load Order and move the following maps to the top of the list:
    1. Fort Knox linked to Eerie Country
    2. Eerie Country
    3. Road between Fort Knox and Bedford Falls
    4. Road from Monmouth County to Bedford Falls
    5. Monmouth County
    6. Bedford Falls
Last. Muldraugh, KY (after all other map mods)

Additionally, they don't conflict however it is recommended to load Raven creek after Research Facility and Access Road in multiplayer only.
  5. Click OK, Save then quit Project Zomboid.
  6. Open your File Explorer and navigate to C:\Users\User\Zomboid\Server (be mindful your username may vary).
  7. Open the server config settings file using a text editor. You should see that Mods= and Workshop Items= are already populated.
  8. From the collection, open the Cells of All Mods Listed and Multiplayer Data [docs.google.com]file.
  9. Back in the server config file, find map= in the text file, using the data from the Cells of All Mods Listed and Multiplayer Data document, paste in the Map Folder data into map= (it already has the correct load order and Muldraugh, KY at the end).
  10. If you are subscribed to the entire collection or if you are using a map dependent on Aquatsar Yacht Club, you will need to disable anti-cheat type 12. Navigate to the line AntiCheatProtectionType12= and replace true with false.
  11. Save, close and load back into Project Zomboid.
  12. Go to Host, select your server and start. I would reccomend a minimum memory of 5GB for 2 people, a good rule is to add another 500MB per player.
