Modding BRC via r2modman Mod Manager
Before starting, it is highly recommended that your Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is installed in the Steam Deck's Internal Storage - not on a MicroSD or External Storage. r2modman mods most likely won't work in Gaming Mode otherwise.

Install r2modman[thunderstore.io] by clicking on Manual Download.

Open the zip file and extract it wherever you want then open r2modman-3.1.45.AppImage

Right-click the AppImage> Properties > Permissions > check Is Executable and click OK.

Search for Bomb Rush Cyberfunk (You can also click on set as default to start there from now on.)

Select the Default Profile
(This is important if you plan on playing with mods via r2modman in Gaming Mode.)

On the left click Online then find the mod you want and click Download with dependencies.

Before anything, make sure to install BepInExPack as all other mods require it to work.

After you download the mods you want, click Start modded in the top left. Everything should be working if you play in Desktop Mode.

If you want mods to work in Gaming Mode, go to Bomb Rush Cyberfunk in your Steam Library and navigate to Properties.

Copy and paste
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp=n,b" %command% --doorstop-enable true --doorstop-target "/home/deck/.config/r2modmanPlus-local/BombRushCyberfunk/profiles/Default/BepInEx/core/BepInEx.Preloader.dll" --r2profile "Default"
into your Steam Launch Options.
CrewBoom Custom Characters
Search for CrewBoom[github.com] in r2modman and download it. Launch the game at least once afterward.

Downloading any custom character that supports CrewBoom[github.com] from r2modman should automatically work. Off-site mods that aren't on r2modman, like BRC-Styled Hatsune Miku[gamebanana.com], require some extra work.

Download your mod
Open the folder you just downloaded, it should contain
  • .cbb files
  • .json files
  • Might have stuff like PNGs

Navigate to
/home/deck/.config/r2modmanPlus-local/BombRushCyberfunk/profiles/Default/BepInEx/config/CrewBoom

Dump the characters file in that folder. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like they can be in any subfolders so rip organization.

Afterward, they should appear as brand-new characters in the character selection.
Replacing Characters
Open the .json file belonging to the custom character you want to use, then replace None with the name of who you want it to replace. (Keep the Quotes!)

Set it back to None if you want it to be a new slot/character.

You can also edit the .json within r2modman's Config editor
BombRushRadio Custom Music
Search for and download BombRushRadio[thunderstore.io] in r2modman, then boot up the game at least once.

Close the game then navigate to
/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/BombRushCyberfunk/Bomb Rush Cyberfunk_Data/StreamingAssets/Mods/BombRushRadio/Songs
(This should be the location if your game is installed on the internal storage.)

This folder is where you'll put the music of your choice, you should name the files like this:
SongName-Artist

Make sure the file is one of the supported file types:
  • AIF(F)
  • IT
  • MOD
  • MP2
  • MP3
  • OGG
  • S3M
  • WAV
  • XM
  • FLAC

You can also sort your music within folders
SlopCrew Multiplayer
Search and download SlopCrew in r2modman

Launch the game, then exit the game to generate the config.

Click on Config editor, then scroll down to SlopCrew.Plugin.cfg. Click Edit Config.

Scroll down to Username and enter a name, then click Save in the top right corner.

Everything should work if you've followed the guide correctly.
Potential Issues
The game launches in Gaming Mode without mods!
Ensure that the game is installed on the internal storage and that the Steam Launch Options are correct. If they are correct, check if the game boots with mods through r2modman on Desktop Mode, if not then you've done something wrong.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk compatibility data does not exist
This usually happens because the game isn't installed on the internal storage, which means mods won't work in Gaming Mode. If you know this and still want to continue, you might be able to fix it by dragging the 1353230 folder located at
/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1353230
to
/run/media/deck/01e40a49-5816-44d3-857d-17ada5bc5d4d/steamapps/compatdata
and then clicking Link Here

The game doesn't launch through r2modman!
Check if the game's location is correct under
Settings > Locations

I'm trying to find the directory but for some reason the folder isn't there, even though the game is installed in internal storage.

My game is installed on the internal storage, modded using r2modman, and my launch options are correct. Booted the game once in desktop mode and mods worked, booted again in gaming mode and mods worked. This method still works for me so I'm unsure what the issue could be.

My modded character shows up in desktop mode through r2modman but putting in the launch option commands in gaming mode it doesnt want to work. Is this somehow outdated already or did I mess up? It works fine through desktop mode

My biggest issue right now is that a crew boom folder is not created so I have nowhere to put my custom models. I installed a skip cutscene mod just to see if mods even worked but it didn’t. I followed the tutorial exactly so maybe this has to due with being installed on a microsd

Glad you sorted it out
