-ABBC- Additional Byzantine-Bulgarian Characters

Description
This mod adds thousands of ( 9000+ as of May 2025 and increasing ) of historical characters and known connections between historical characters, as well as adding a few legendary people, adding speculated connections and implementing various theories regarding historical people. Besides these it also adds hundreds of fictional people to represent various tribes -mostly Slavic with some Germanic and Turkic origin- that are missing from the game, currently mainly from Balkans and Pannonia and some West Slavs bordering Franks, with an intention to add in the future missing missing Turkic, Finno-Ugric and Slavic tribes bordering the Rurikid realms and some Arabic tribes in service of Byzantine Empire.

Despite the name it doesn't add only Byzantine and Bulgarian characters, the name simply comes from the fact when I first started working on this my intention was to only add missing members for the Bulgarian ruling dynasty (Dulo, Krum, Kometopuli) and add missing members for the families of Roman/Byzantine emperors, especially to show how many of the emperors were connected to other emperors that came before them, as well as adding a few missing families from Byzantine Empire in 9th and 11th centuries and a few missing Slavic tribes that were located within both realms but it went way beyond that adding thousands of characters from various different realms, cultures and families like adding missing members of the Anglo-Saxon House of Wessex, the Visigothic ruling family of Balthes or the Khazar Ashina dynasty or adding some Norse and Anglo-Saxon families from scratch, a more comprehensive(but sadly outdated) list can be found in the Paradox Forums thread:

Compatibility:

It should be compatible with most other mods since besides adding houses, dynasties and characters and a changes to few existing characters, this really doesn't change anything.

Currently this modifies:

history\

- \characters (besides additions also changes existing characters)
- \titles (makes no changes, only additions)

common\
- \dynasties (makes no changes, only additions)
- \dynasty_houses (makes no changes, only additions)
- \coat_of_arms (makes no changes, only additions)
- \legends\legend_seeds\00_legend_seeds.txt
- \landed_titles (makes no changes, only additions)

In the future it will also modify (addition of new files only)

common\
- \dna_data

Permissions Policy:
If you are a modder and would like to spice up your own mod with some more historical characters, you are welcome to use this mod in part, or more preferrably (due to changes done to already existing characters) in whole, just give credit where due. No need to wait for express permission as long as you post here.

@Patton yes, I decided on removing them in the next update. Will probably update in a few days with a new family or two.

I believe at this point that some of those files are outdated and causing crashes (at least it does for me), so removing/updating the event files you need would make a lot of sense

Or... maybe not. Since I don't remember any other such thing, I should just go ahead and remove all and just keep the single file that is about killing Michael and Æthelred

@Cris_Ly Thanks for the praise, checking the event folder, I don't recall now why I copied all the files present back then, all I needed was the ones that I changed. I altered those events once and didn't touch the events folder again so I kinda forgot about it. It will probably take me some time to clear out the folder though because I'm unsure if there were any other events I altered for history reasons besides the two I mentioned.

Anyway, i love this mod! Truly amazing work!

I see! You should add the event files modified by this mod in your compability list, or maybe take those files and make another mod that focuses on making events outcomes more historical? So to leave this mod as just additional characters, to not affect compability with other mods i mean
Abaçı  [author] 16 hours ago
@Cris_Ly it is to overwrite some events in base game that I do not want to happen due to their ahistorical outcomes such as Basil Macedon killing Michael Amorian at game start when he should be around for near a year more or Alfred of Wessex' elder brother dying before his time.

Thanks for reminding though, I haven't compared them to the files from the main game in a while so perhaps there are a few more such things that need change.

i suppose it was a experiment with the vanilla event folder and you forgot to delete it before updating the mod?
Cris_Ly May 21 @ 6:21pm
why does the mod files have a event folder filled with unrelated stuff?

It took me a while but the Pecheneg update is finally here. This covers everything up to 1066 start. There are a few other things from after 1066 but well before 1178 so I haven't touched them (except a couple of things that I've added long ago) but will probably get to them later on.
