One of the more popular workings to run over the Welsh Marches line is the Cardiff to Holyhead passenger services, forming a vital connecting service between the south and north of Wales. In this two-parter, you will drive the Newport to Hereford portion of this service. In Part 1, you have just pulled into Newport and will be required to open the doors. Once the pickup is complete, you will call at Cwmbran, Abergavenny, and Hereford.

@chris Thanks for the info.

Enjoyable run back up the line, albeit in inclement weather, thank you HS. There is also a Holy Island in Lamlash Bay, Arran off the west coast of Scotland. When I was living up there in Barassie I could see it from my bedroom window. I think it is now a community of Buddhist Monks. Kind Regards. Chris

Apologies. That's a new one on me. I've been there lots of times and never come across this. We learn something new every day eh!!

@pjohnandyns Holy Island is also the name of the island on which Holyhead sits; although it appears to be one island, Anglesey and Holy Island are two distinct landmasses connected by a causeway.

Hi HS. Nicely done again, ran OK with no problems and timetable nice and easy. :steamthumbsup:
Same comment about starter signal, got a soaking looking for this one.:steamsad:
By the way, Holy Island (Lindisfarne) is about a mile off the coast of Northumberland in the North Sea. :steamsalty:
