What are startup commands?

Startup commands, startup options, startup parameters - everyone calls them differently. These are actually commands that activate every time CS2 is launched. Thanks to the commands, we can force the game to run in a window, disable VAC, set the monitor HZ or activate config files.

How to set launch options in CS2?

To set startup options:

Go to the Steam Game Library
Right-click on CS2 and go to Properties
In the General tab, scroll down
In the Run Options window, add the selected commands

Popular CS2 startup commands:

-novid – Disable CS2 intro
-refresh – Sets the HZ of the monitor
-console – Activates access to the CS2 console
-language - language (xd)

Enable developer tools
-tools - Start command activating workshop and development tools.

Config
+exec file_name - Using the +exec parameter, we can force activation of a given config file when starting the game. The configuration file should be located in the \cfg\ folder.

Disabling VAC
-insecure - Parameter to disable Valve Anti Cheat in CS2. Adding this parameter will allow you to fully interfere with the game files without fear of having your account banned. With the following command added, we will not be able to access servers secured by the VAC system.

ATTENTION. At this moment, the parameter does not fully work and causes VAC in some cases.

Disabling pad support
+joystick_force_disabled - Command that will disable joystick support in CS2. According to some, it can increase FPS.

CS2 in a borderless window
-noborder - A parameter used to run the game in a window without a window border.


Changing the window size

-w
-h

When running the game in a window, we can also set its size using the parameters below. The parameter -w is responsible for the width and -h for the height of the game window. Example for full hd: -w 1920 -h 1080.

Window mode
-windowed - Startup command that will force the game to run in a window.


Full screen setting
--fullscreen - The launch options in CS2 also allow you to run the game in a full window. The following startup command forces the game to run in full screen.

High priority in CS2
-high - The "high" command enables high priority mode in Win. It is said that this is the starting command to increase FPS in CS2, but in some cases it may cause problems with the game.


Allowing external programs to run
-allow_third_party_software - A startup parameter that allows you to use recording programs such as OBS or activate Nvidia filters. If you have a black game screen while recording/streaming, this parameter must be added.

Enabling Vulkan
-vulkan - The following startup command will force Vulkan rendering in CS2. At the moment, Vulkan does not fully work in CS2 and causes large FPS drops.


Changing the language in CS2
-language - Using parameters, we can change the language in Counter Strike 2. After the -language parameter, we enter the name of the language. Examples: -language polish, -language english, -language pirate.
