A step-by-step guide about Petrus of Thorolund questline

Follow every step, and you'll succeed to reveal Petrus' true nature.

1. First Encounter

Meet him for the first time at Firelink Shrine.

Speak to Petrus

Speak to Petrus again

Speak to Petrus one more time

Answer YES

Join his covenant

Select TALK

Select TALK again

Show your dedication

Be very careful here:

Select YES even if you don't have the required amount of souls.
By doing so, he will ask you again about the Undead Mission the next time you talk to him.

By selecting NO you will mess up the quest (if you've answered NO, go to step 1.1. Petrus Fail).

You can leave for now

NEXT STEP: 2. Free Lautrec

1.1. Petrus Fail

If you've answered NO, Petrus will not ask again about the Undead Mission.
The quest ends here.





Start a New Game, and repeat from step 1.

2. Free Lautrec

In order to free Sir Lautrec, first you have to get the Mystery Key (or use the Master Key if you have it).

His prison cell is located at the upper floor of the Undead Church.

Talk to him

Free him, and then talk to him

NEXT STEP: 3. Defeat Capra Demon

3. Defeat Capra Demon

Get the Basement Key to enter the Undead Burg.
Basement Key Location[darksouls.wiki.fextralife.com]

Make your way through the Undead Burg, and defeat Capra Demon

Go back to Firelink Shrine.


NEXT STEP: 4. Second Encounter

4. Second Encounter

After the defeat of Capra Demon, Petrus' companions will arrive to Firelink Shrine.

Speak to Petrus

Speak to him again

Select TALK

Restart the game and Petrus' and companions will depart to their mission.

NEXT STEP: 5. Third Encounter

5. Third Encounter

Restart the game a few times, and Petrus will return from the Undead Mission.

Talk to him

Talk to him again

NEXT STEP: 6. Lautrec Intel

6. Lautrec's Intel

Meet Sir Lautrec near the Fire Keeper, at Firelink Shrine.

Speak to him

Speak to him again

He may repeat these last dialogue lines. In case happens, just restart the game.

Speak to him once more and pay for the useful tip

If you've answered NO, go to step 6.1. Lautrec Fail.

[Optional] Speak to him to learn about more lore

NEXT STEP: 7. Petrus Shows His True Colors

6.1. Lautrec Fail

If you've chosen NO, restart the game and go talk to him again.
He will ask again about the intel.

Go back to step 6. Lautrec Intel, to the following section:
"Speak to him once more and pay for the useful tip"

7. Petrus Shows His True Colors

Speak to him to know the truth

Don't kill him now, it's too early for that. The quest has not reached an end yet.
There is still an important task to do.

NEXT STEP: 8. Rescue Reah

8. Rescue Reah

Go to Tomb of the Giants and rescue Reah

Defeat Nico and Vince, her two followers now turned hollow.
Do not let Reah die, or the quest ends, and Petrus wins.


Once she's safe and sound, go speak to her.

NEXT STEP: 9. Reah of Thorolund

9. Reah of Thorolund

After you've rescued Reah, she will moved to Undead Church.

Speak to Reah

Speak to her again

Select TALK

Now you have two path you can pick:

To properly get revenge, go to step 9.1 Reah's Death;
To keep Reah alive, go to step 10. Vengeance.

9.1 Reah's Death

If you've defeated at least 3 bosses after you saved Reah, come back to Undead Church.

Go check her

Time for vendetta!

NEXT STEP: 10. Vengeance

10. Vengeance [FINALE]

He will act as nothing has happened.

Attack him

Kill him

Vengeance accomplished

He drops the Ivory Talisman only if he has killed Reah.




The quest is complete.

10.1 Petrus Wins

No big deal. You can try again, you're the chosen undead after all.

Extra 1: Trusty Patches

Extra 2. Hollow

Speak to Sir Lautrec when hollow

Extra 3: Lautrec Shows His True Colors

Time for vendetta, again!
