Tonkin: The First Indochina War (Second Edition) - Compass Games (2012)

Description
Another fine game from Kim Kanger. This one takes place in Indochina, in the Tonkin area of North Vietnam and Laos, immediately following the Second World War, and a few years before the US became involved in the Vietnam conflict.

This is a two player game that you might be able to play solitaire (although there are no specific rules for solo play). One player takes control of the Viet Minh trying to throw off the yoke of colonial rule, while the other player is the French Expeditionary Force, trying to maintain control of it's colony.

From BGG:
"The game focuses on the intensive years from 1950 to 1954 in the northern part of Vietnam, called Tonkin, and Laos. It is a game of high interactive play where both players have a set of ten operation points and a number of supply dumps.
By spending operations points you will be able to perform different, mostly non-combat, actions. By expending a supply dump you will also be allowed to perform combat missions. But there will be a limited number of supply dumps to expend and they will also be needed to keep units in supply. When you spend operation points you will only be allowed to spend one, two or three points in a row before it is your opponents turn to spend his.

This creates a game where you, in the long term, will have to plan and save supply and at the same time be prepared to react to your opponent's actions.
In the short term you will be forced to make decisions based upon the number of operation points you have been given to spend in a row and the missions you need to accomplish."

*** This mod does not contain the player aid charts or scenario set up cards, you will need to own a copy of the game to be able to play. I uploaded the mod because the game is too large for me to keep setting up every time I want to play at the house, and TTS is sooooo much easier when it comes time to save a game in progress. So if you like what you see, go buy a copy, and support the developers. I do not own any rights to this game or any of the images in this mod.

Thanks to Stan Hilinski and grouchysmurf for maintaining the module on VASSAL, from which I borrowed substantially.
The map is from VASSAL and has been configured for both players to be on the same side of the table. The real game map has the Viet Minh record track numbers actually facing that side of the board, but I don't think this little alteration will affect your gameplay. I also kept some of the QOL tokens used in the VASSAL mod to help you notate movement and attacks.

Thanks also to MangoFeet for the Stack Exploder (included in my mod), https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2134584163&searchtext=stack+exploder

And thanks to Eldin for the Make Anything A Bag tool (which I used to make the mod, but is not included in it); https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2302198936&searchtext=storage+bag
