Caesar's In Britannia MP beta part 1 of 4

Description
Caesar's and Britannia is a full overhaul of Thrones of Britannia set during 3 crucial periods during Romes occupation of the British Isles. Our aim is to deliver to the community 3 different campaigns and a whole new multiplayer experience.

Whats in this file?:

Welcome to the inaugural BETA release of the CIB MP experience. Within this download, you'll discover five newly introduced tribes that once inhabited what is now modern-day Wales, along with two out of Julius Caesar's five legions that accompanied him during his conquest of Albion, later known as Britannia.

This Beta test introduces the innovative Legion system, meticulously crafted to dissect each legion into its distinctive army. In historical accuracy, legions were tailored to the specific theaters they engaged in, featuring unique auxiliary units based on their region of origin and campaign history. To guarantee a diverse and engaging gameplay experience, each legion is endowed with its own set of weaknesses and strengths, eliminating any potential for a monotonous, copy-and-paste playstyle.

This strategic design prompts players to collaborate with other legions, compensating for each other's vulnerabilities. For instance, Legio VII boasts an array of spear units but lacks in cavalry strength, a void that Legio IX efficiently fills with its diverse cavalry types. The need for teamwork among legions is paramount, as failure to leverage individual strengths may expose vulnerabilities, leaving players susceptible to cunning British tribes seeking to exploit strategic weaknesses.

Within this beta you will find our first map of the brand new breakthrough mode titled "back to the fort". The legions are to start on the attacking side!

The scouting mechanic:

With the legions functioning as an invading force, we've undergone a few tweaks of the spotting system in TOB. Recognising the absence of ambush battles following CA's decision to remove it from this title, we've redefined the scouting and spotting mechanics to accommodate Guerrilla/Ambush-style warfare. This strategic evolution unfolds in two distinct ways.

Firstly, acknowledging that the Romans are venturing into unfamiliar territories, their spotting distance has been significantly curtailed. As players initiate battles, the onus falls on them to deploy light infantry and scouts effectively, actively engaging in the challenge of pinpointing the enemy's positions.

Secondly, an elevation in the Britons' spotting ability has been implemented to mirror their profound familiarity with their lands, a knowledge superior to the Roman invaders. This enhancement is further underscored by the Britons' well-established network of scouts and spies actively reporting on the movements and positions of the approaching Romans.

This dual approach aims to intensify the immersive experience of strategic warfare, encapsulating the unique challenges faced by both the invading Romans and the indigenous Britons in their quest for dominance.

Introducing New Battle Types:

Tired of the monotonous march forward with superior stats, longing for battles with a purpose beyond mere confrontation? Look no further – in CIB, we're excited to unveil several innovative battle types, designed to challenge players and infuse custom land battles with strategic depth. Below, you'll find a comprehensive breakdown of the planned battle types.

Breakthrough:
Engage in a dynamic game mode where legions start from random points on the map and must navigate challenging terrain to return safely to their Fort. Successfully defend your fort within a 1 hour timer to emerge victorious, or face the consequences of the emperor questioning the fate of his legions if you fail to reach safety.

Conquest (Planned):
Battle across maps featuring multiple villages defended by British tribes. Roman legions aim to capture and secure as many villages as possible, with each village assigned specific points. The army accumulating the most points when the timer expires claims victory – a concept akin to LOC in NTW3.

Hold the Fort (Planned):
Experience a gripping game mode where one Roman player commands a small garrison force, holding off relentless barbarian waves while awaiting reinforcements from a second Roman player. Cooperation is essential to prevent the fort from falling into enemy hands.

Supply Line (Planned):
In a variation reminiscent of LOC, each side starts with an encampment serving as their HQ. HQs are valued at 5 points each, while smaller capture points scattered across the map are worth 1 or 2 points. The team accumulating the most points at the end emerges victorious, with a strategic emphasis on capturing the enemy's encampment for a substantial 5-point lead.

Historical Battles (Planned):
Immerse yourself in re-enactments of historical battles, as we aim to recreate iconic moments for players to experience. If you have suggestions for famous battles you'd like to see, feel free to share them below.

This beta promises a diverse and engaging gaming experience, offering a refreshing departure from traditional battles and introducing strategic nuances that will challenge even the most seasoned commanders.

Join our discord to find out more and arrange MP battles within the community and share your ideas for the mod. CIB is forever changing and growing and was started as community mod for the Historical fan-base who have been abandoned by CA. If they won't give us something to play then why don't we do it ourselves. No matter how small your modding ability the team is always open to newcomers.
