The basic premise is, the world is covered in a collective being known as the dogmother for a reason that is not explained very well. Humans are going extinct because they are either starving or becoming part of the dogmother as well. A man tries to escape the dogmother by going to the north pole, where the dogflesh cannot spread (it is too cold to support it) but then he freezes to death.
