A complete guide for the Astroneer Breakdown Event

Unlocking The Event

First to unlock it, you need to have completed the mission "Battery Backup" (Fully Charge A Battery) Then unlock and print the EXO request platform and put it on a large platform. There You can Activate the Mission.

Stage 1

Stage one will involve blue and purple EXO caches that spawn pretty much everywhere (excluding the surface of any planet) These will require compound, resin, or power to open. They can contain resin and compound, but the colors do mean something. Blue caches give you those Christmas event robots and unknown bio fuel while purple caches give you little solar system snow globes and Noxothane or whatever that green squasholine is called. Then you use these objects for (small) printing (robot+snow globe and unknown fuel+ Noxothane) to make weird amalgamations which you can put on the EXO request platform (and it's free, no bytes required!) Then you repeat until you get the Baublegum visor. Plus you get some nice rewards. (even qt-rtgs!) (also sorry for the cluttered

Stage 2

In stage 2 the planets now have snowmen all over in the caves. These snowmen come in two colors: purple and teal. They each drop one event item and are color coded. Teal snowmen drop the stage 1 purple EXO cache loot and the purple snowmen drop the blue EXO cache loot. There are also now EXO caches in the mantle layer, these ones needing power, laterite, and resipound instead of power, compound, and resin.
The drops are also different: Stage 2 blue EXO caches drop ANY stage 1 event items (even cosmic baubles and noxothane) and stage 2 purple EXO caches have a 100% chance of dropping 1 Cosmic Automation, 1 Squashothane (or whatever unknown biofuel+noxothane is), and 1 resipound. Also beware of the high ceiling and low gravity which makes the already explosive caches 100 times worse. (Tip: open them while they are on their side) With a unknown biofuel, a cosmic bauble, and your brand new resipound, you can now craft cosmic squash!
Though cosmic squash kinda sucks at bringing up those points ( around 500 points). Also there are still no signs of leek yet so they will come in stage 3.

Stage 3

Now there are caches in the core area.

There's a lot in this picture, first lets start with the EXO caches, they take power, resipound, and leek.They can give basic stage 1 items, or give crafted stage 2 items, specifically Cosmic Squash and Noxothane 002.

Also there are yellow ones now.

These give winches, which are useful for dragging heavy stuff around, including caches.

Next, the snowmen, which give leek or resipound. Finally the EXO crate, which can contain pretty much anything from the event, lets blow it up.
Wow, an omnugget. Speaking of omnugget, you can craft it using the things you got from the leek EXO caches and a leek.

Then using that you can craft a burrito, which takes Squasholine, Resipound, Omnugget, and a leek.
Then you can send those burritos on their way and get (not so) massive gains.

Congrats you made it, good job, have a burrito. Now I can call this a complete guide.

@superbrias Just be glad they aren't the snowmen from that one Doctor Who Christmas special a while back. :p Just google "Doctor Who The Snowmen" if you don't know the ones I'm talking about.
