Play as Left 4 Dead 2 Survivors in Resident Evil 6's Story Mode & Install Cheats - Ultimate RE6 Trainer Guide
By Nicky Grimes
A short guide to help players setup Raz0r's Ultimate Trainer so they can play as anyone with any costume without needing to grind for them.

The trainer must be open while the game is. If the trainer's not open at the same time as the game, all effects won't take place.

Examples of What You Can Do
1. Play as the Left 4 Dead 2 characters in all story modes. (Ex: Nick and Rochelle replacing Leon and Helena). This also takes effect when the characters crossover in the other routes.
2. Use the Mutated Hand in any chapter.
3. Enable infinite ammo for all weapons in inventory.
4. Load your inventory with any items and weapons of your choice.
5. Skip cutscenes - Experimental: Be careful.
6. Properly Pause - The game will be paused with animated textures but gameplay will not continue until you press ESC to return to gameplay.

Can I Play This Online?
- All Steam users can play online with this without issues of VAC bans or getting kicked out of online lobbies.
- Fully playable in co-op.
- Bugs: Skipping cutscenes or not having the right weapon equipped for QTE (Quick Time Events) can render some parts unplayable.
- Fully playable in Mercenaries and Mercenaries: No Mercy mode. I haven't tried out other modes as I didn't buy any other DLC.

When Do Cheats Take Effect?
- They take place as soon as you reload a level. You can simply restart from a checkpoint if you want to see the changes take place immediately.
- You don't have to close the game while changing the settings. Again, you can restart from your checkpoint.
- This takes effect for all changes you make (characters, weapons, ammo amount, HUD, etc.)

Can I play as the Left 4 Dead 2 Characters in any mode?
YES.

Compatibility
STEAM: Only the Steam version of Resident Evil 6 is known to be supported at this time.

LEFT 4 DEAD 2: The Mercenaries: No Mercy mode is the only mode that has Capcom's installation of the Left 4 Dead 2 Survivors at this time.
- All survivors from Left 4 Dead 1 has not been modded nor officially patched in at this time.
- All characters from the second game appears: Rochelle, Coach, Ellis, and Nick.
- In my experience, I have bought the game from Steam's official store to view them in-game. Unsure as to whether that makes them playable, or if you can obtain them without owning Left 4 Dead 2.
- The trainer makes L4D2 characters playable without obtaining the game. This is different from owning Left 4 Dead 2 and having it installed at the same time that RE6 is.

Post-Installation Steps: Proceed to the next section to install the mod.
🔧 Install the Trainer
Step One: Save the Trainer to Your Preferred Folder

Click to download the trainer. Once you're done, save it to a folder that you can revisit easily in the future.
For this example, I will rename my folder so it's easier for me to revisit in the future.

Step Two: Extract All Files

Go into the folder and open your saved ZIP file.
All of the files should be packed into one folder. You'll need to extract it.

The file should be called: RE 6 Ultimate Trainer x64 by Raz0r. Once you've confirmed that's the correct one, choose the option to Extract the Files. You can choose to extract them to its own folder, or extract the contents in the folder that you're currently in (Extract Files Here).

Either one of these options is acceptable. This is your personal preference.

Once you've extracted the files, you should see them in the folder you installed it in.

Step Three: Open the Program

Once you're done, double click on RE6UltimateTrainer.exe to open the program.

When you're ready, proceed to the next section.
🧟 Play as the Left 4 Dead 2 Survivors
Description
With this trainer, it's possible to play as the Left 4 Dead 2 survivors throughout all story missions and campaigns.

If you choose to "freeze" your character selection as a permanent result, they may appear in crossover events with other characters. If you don't click the checkbox to "freeze" your character, the trainer will automatically default to the predetermined characters to avoid a crash.

Example: Chris and Piers appears multiple times within Jake and Sherry's campaign. Each time you encounter them in-game, your chosen selections will appear rather than the default models.

Available Characters
- Coach
- Rochelle
- Ellis
- Nick

The enemies from the L4D series, Tank and Witch, aren't available within the trainer nor other cheat trainers at this time.

Step One: Open the Trainer
No pictures needed for this one. Remember to have your game open at the same time if you want the results to take place immediately.

Otherwise, you will get this greyed out interface.

Once your game is running, the grey will change into a darker color. This means you can now edit the values as needed.

Step Two: Choose the Character You Want
For this example, we'll choose Coach to replace Chris.
This means that Coach will appear instead of Chris during gameplay within Chris's route and any time he makes a cameo in other protagonists' stories.

1) Go to Chris's tab.
This is located at near the top of the program.

2) Go to Characters < Character Swap
This is located below the Player Select section.

3) Underneath the Character selection, choose Chris.
For Chris himself, it will be chosen by default.

Next, navigate to the Outfit tab.
Click on the drop down menu, and select COACH.

Your character selection is done here. The next steps is to "freeze" your selection, making the choice permanent until you decide to unfreeze or choose another character.

Step Four: What does FREEZING do?

As a rule of default, you should always have the vertical FREEZE checkbox checked.
This is located near the Character Swap titlebar.
FREEZE means to make your selection permanent.
If this value is not enabled, then the trainer will automatically change your character in level transitions and reopening the game.

Another rule of default is to enable the Missing Files Fix. I've mentioned this in the Before You Cheat section.
This prevents the game from crashing if you have a character model replacement occurring.

I also have Render Everything enabled to avoid the crashes. This renders everything on the map.

Step Five: Finish

You're done! If you're currently playing in a level, reload from your checkpoint for the change to take effect. If you did all of these steps in the menu, there's no need to restart the game.

Changes take effect immediately when you reload a level or start the campaign.

There won't be changes in the menu or a character selection in the lobby, but as soon as the level loads - You'll see your character.

Examples
Here is an example below where I play as Nick replacing Leon in Leon's Route.

Examples of using L4D2 characters

Here is an example where I've replaced Leon and Helena with Nick and Rochelle:

Here's another example where Chris and Piers replaced by Coach and Ellis:

Known Bugs
While playing as a L4D2 survivor to replace any character, any cinematic sequences will render them invisible. Cinematic sequences are identified with a fade-in black screen beginning of the scene.

If it's a scripted event that happens in-game (Ex: Jake's beat down within the last chapter of his story), the characters will appear.

The following photos are a result of Chris and Piers being replaced by Coach and Ellis:

Conclusion
That's it for this section of the guide.
To undo your changes, simply uncheck "Freeze" so your character (and other values changed) goes back to normal.
⚠️ Cool Tips before You Cheat
Here's some tips that'll prevent your game from crashing or losing any values entered.

Freeze
Within each value changed - characters and/or weapons - there is a separate checkbox with the vertical/horizontal layout, FREEZE.

Freezing simply makes your choices permanent.

Freezing Weapons
Location: Found within the ITEMS tab, to the far right.

If you had a value entered within your weapon to have 9999 ammo, freezing it will make your weapon still have 9999 ammo.
This also means there's no need to reload your weapon.
Just like having an infinite cheat on.

Choosing to click the Freeze button for all weapons will permanently change and keep all values, for ALL weapons.

Freezing Characters

There is a separate section that goes into depth about choosing which characters you want. This applies for all routes, and has all playable models available including the Left 4 Dead 2 survivors.

Here, this will be a very quick summary as it's fairly easy to remember to hit the Freeze button so the program permanently keeps your choice of character and costume.

To unfreeze the changes, simply uncheck the box.

Freezing Characters - Example

In this example, I chose Coach from Left 4 Dead 2 to replace Chris Redfield.
Again, there is a very simple tutorial that's available in the guide with the title: Playing as the Left 4 Dead 2 Survivors that can be used for all other Character Swaps.

Conclusion - Freeze
To undo any Freeze changes, uncheck the boxes labeled "Freeze." Your values will go back to normal when you restart the level or the game.

Missing Files Fix
If you have a Character Swap turned on, you'll need to check this box so your game doesn't crash.

If Character Swap is turned on without the Missing Files Fix enabled, then your game will crash.

Online Compatibility
All mods and changes works online. As for character swaps, this will only take effect for that particular player. Everyone will need to have the mod installed if they want to see it on their side as well.

As for weapon mods, they're fully compatible online meaning that other players will see the effects of your fired shots.

As for the mutated hand, players will see you T-posing and doing a weird spin before firing. However, the effect will still take place.

Conclusion
That's the end of this guide. Happy gaming.

@Phantom: Hello! Please walk me through the steps that you've taken along with any images/videos that you can link to ensure that you went through the tutorial.

These values should be enabled/disabled by default:
1. Freeze - Should be checked to save your character choice.
2. Render Everything - Should be enabled by default. This will render the world along with your character.
3. Missing Files Fix - Should be enabled by default. Not having this option checked will cause your game to crash.

Here's two images you can use as reference when checking the values:

Image 1: Freeze

Image 2: Missing Files Fix and Render Everything

Please keep me updated, and thank you for taking the time to ask for help! :steamhappy:

trainer crashes the game;; anyone know of a solution?
Nicky Grimes  [author] Aug 3, 2024 @ 2:53pm
Sucks considering some of the devs took the time to mod them in but they're not available to play with all characters for the story modes. Perhaps it was an oversight, but there was a lot of potential should the shading be compatible and they're not limited to smaller voicelines when playing as them.

When playing as a L4D2 survivor with the trainer, the mechanics are the same as playing with a RE character. Their voices won't be changed but retain the RE character's voices.

Here's a video capture of the mod with Nick replacing Leon and doing normal callouts.

@thekillercritic:

First answer: As far as the taunt ability goes, I only know of V regarding "Thanks/Follow/Wait". You have to press V and then the corresponding key.

Second answer: To spawn Left 4 Dead 2's special infected, you have to play the Mercenaries: No Mercy mode. Only that mode has the Left 4 Dead 2 survivors available, hence allowing the director to spawn the Special Infected. Within the Mercenaries's normal mode, the Director won't spawn the Special Infected as the Survivors aren't available to play in that mode.

Also how do you spawn in enemies?
thekillercritic Jun 23, 2024 @ 12:29pm
Does this allow you to use the taunt ability in the story?
