I wrote this along with a few chapters to a DRG themed lite novel back in 2020. I am copy/paste from notepad a small portion of it retaining simple info for new players with minimal editing. (green beards) I may try to compile more up to date info later on. V

We all start somewhere
This game has a lot of meta, and common knowledge that exists in groups among the player base. without requiring all player to have a microphone to commute, from basics to hazard 5.
we can at best make a guide covering any and all viable techs, strategies and various means to fight the enemy that we can employ on Hoxxes IV.

It is not to: say these are the strongest builds/ best way to do 'X' but to tell the story that all the mods and builds are viable in their own way.

Upfront This game offers us the chance to create our own work. we can immerse ourselves into satisfying work and define our own goals and rules for success.

there is no winning here either, only enjoyable engagement with the community and your enviroment and the meaning and pride that comes with DRG employment.

"Participation is its own reward, when the player is properly invested in his or her progress, in exploring the world fully, and in the community’s success."-David R. Woolley

the biggest hazards you will face are the maps themselves. a few bugs can be killed and your team will rescue you, But falling 120 feet means you're separated and you might have just been doomed. you
must always be aware of what you are doing, watching yourself, remaining constantly and never 'empty minded'

ranging from an engineers runway, to a c4 hell in magma chamber with ziplines above the ground.
inherint here will be ideas from silly to plausible from good to bad.
"If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.”

having the strategy out there will hopefully allow for more advanced gameplay among strangers as the meta continus to evolve in intelligence as does the player base.
at one point we dug holes to abuse the bugs, and to such success that a new breed of glyphid was born.

So as we continue to play and experience the game, we should push the tech and support items we have to the brink to open more gameplay possibilities.
Stuff
here is a guide to deep rock galactic.
lets start with the keys you should learn and what order to learn them in. this is a serious guide keep in mind, authorized by the communual zealots of Auir.

The first key you're going to learn is V

V- salutes. this is the most powerful tool you have. rock and stone. rock and stone your team, rock and stone m.u.l.e., rock and stone your drop pod,
rock and stone or you aint coming home.
uses include : summon dwarfs, convey meaning, show approval/disaproval, show your understanding or lack of, indicate compressed minerals, welcome teammates to the party, a greeting for joining a party
a way to say goodbye, indicate enemies, signal you are ready to proceede, and i am sure i missed some key uses. ( emergency button for scout, ) ROCK AND STONE

next are the WASD keys, they are of a slightly less importance. be aware of you're teammates Line of Fire, though while in a scrap and avoid pressing these keys and jumping into their sights,
on the other side be aware of straying dwarves and avoid lighting them up unintentionally*.

at this point enough is known about the game that we can just talk etiquette and you'll be a welcomed greenbeard.

the etiquette meta begins with a Rock and Stone and Ends when all dwarves are in the pod. but everything is subjective except for the following which are
generally agreed upon.
  • 1) "we're rich"

    2) asking "ready?" or "can i call a supply" - are all examples of fine etiquette.

every fan of DRG enjoys hearing their dwarfs point out, that they are infacto, Rich. Don't deny your teammates the chance to ping compressed minerals before dunking them into mule.
Unless you are host don't press the "call Drop pod" until you consult your team. all that is need is a "r?" in chat and you will get an answer.
Supply Pods are another source of contention. it is best to ask for permission before calling a supply pod.

Space bar / power attack.
mantle tech, avoid falling from zips, climb unsuspecting slopes.
the mantle is when you are air borne and come to any ledge that you climb. it does not discriminate how you became airborne in the first place. similar to a head bounce.
there are slopes i never thought i could walk on, and edges i wouldn't have tried to climb up. trying to jump on everything gives you an idea of what you can climb on.
keep in mind a power attack on a smooth wall makes a space tall enough for a dwarf, this can be used to catch youself falling off a wall, similar to an 'MLG block' in MC.

head bounce - a low level tech that is easy to align. use your laser pointer and crank your head straight up. the jumper now has a clear LOS to where they need to land.
nulls all fall damage. useful for supply drop holes and short falls. larger falls become more rewarding/difficult to land.

~The 'Use/E' key.

the 'Use" key has more uses technically than picking up beers and minerals and attaching to zip lines, sort of. spam it when you are on a zipline being shot at by enemies, being hit 3 times
will make you fall from any zipline and by pressing e you can grab it before falling. a more advanced and reliable way is to time Jump/Use while being shot at to avoid detaching.

Mule jumping is a good tool for the solo/duo. to quote 2Tardy directly
"Figured out molly jumping.
You just have to jump with right timing after she goes up.
Also if molly is tilted you will gain momentum in the direction of the tilt instead of up."

2024// On salvage operation; after you finish repairing each mini m.u.l.e. you will gain nitra and gold.
