ENG: How to set/fix the screen refresh rate in CS 2

This guide will help you set up/or fix the screen refresh rate in CS 2

1. The first basic and important step in the setup process | NVIDIA Control Panel

1. Enter category: Display > Adjust desktop size and position
   
2. Under Perform Scaling you need to select the GPU option.
   
3. Then click the Accept button.

2. Adjusting the Refresh Rate in CS 2 settings

1. Go to Settings > Video

2. Change the parameters:

• Display Mode - Full Screen
  
• Aspect Ratio - 4:3
  
• Resolution - any available

IMPORTANT!!! You must be sure to select the screen resolution, not what the game originally set, because then you will have to change it to another, after applying the changes.

This needs to be done in order for the game to unlock the ability to change the Refresh Rate.

3. Changing the Refresh Rate:

After accepting the changes, you need to exit the settings menu and enter them back.
Only then will you be able to change the screen refresh rate.

IMPORTANT!!! This must be done in order for the game to load the available list of screen Refresh Rates. Because after applying the changes, it doesn't do it because of something.

3. Setting the Refresh Rate through the startup options

1. Right-click on Counter-Strike 2 and go to Properties.



2. Go to General. Then we need to write in the parameters of the game startup, these parameters:

-w 1280 -h 1024 -freq 144 -refresh 144 -fullscreen

Description of startup parameters:

-w -h - responsible for Screen Resolutions
-freq -refresh - responsible for Refresh Rate
-fullscreen - expand the game to Full Screen (must be specified)

Available screen resolution values for 4:3:

-w 640 -h 480
-w 720 -h 576
-w 800 -h 600
-w 1024 -h 768
-w 1152 -h 864
-w 1280 -h 960
-w 1280 -h 1024
-w 1440 -h 1080
-w 1600 -h 1200

Available screen refresh rate values:

-freq 60 -refresh 60
-freq 75 -refresh 75
-freq 120 -refresh 120
-freq 144 -refresh 144
-freq 240 -refresh 240
-freq 360 -refresh 360

i just got a new monnitor with 180 HZ and it doesnt show the options ingame to put it into 180 HZ

My desktop res is 4K and my game res is 1440x1080. The game used to have tearing and my monitor turned off and on again every 5-10 seconds. Also alt-tabs were taking forever, breaking everything due to resolution difference.

That "Perform scaling on: GPU" option resolved all these problems. Thank you so much.
