GUARANTEED CS2 FPS INCREASE | ONE OF THE MOST EFFICIENT & COMPLETE GUIDE
ShawTy tarafından
The current unoptimized state of the newly released CS2 has made a lot of players not able to play the game or having much lower frames than expectation which might be giving them a competitive disadvantage. Therefore, I brought a complete guide to fix most of the issues regarding FPS/INPUT LATENCY. By applying them not only you benefit in getting more FPS/Lower input latency in games but even a more faster and smoother version of your system.

Note: All of the steps/settings shown below are 100% safe and can be changed to previous settings if needed, so no need to create a restore point.

Step 1: Windows Settings
1. First on the search bar below, type Windows update settings then click check for updates and let all the updates to be complete (if available)

2. It is advised to reinstall the GPU drivers using DDU(Display Driver Uninstaller); the tutorials are available on YouTube

3. In the search bar, type and open Power and sleep settings. Click additional power settings present in the right corner. A high performance power plan would be there, (if not then select show additional plan)
select it and you're good to go (most important step but not recommended for laptops)

4. Next head back to the search bar and type View advanced system settings then select settings in the performance section. In the visual settings tab;
- Select custom for older hardware and deselect all except shown in picture

- Select Lets windows choose what's best for my computer for more newer hardware

  • In the second tab make sure that processor scheduling is set to best performance of programs

    5. After that, go to the game mode settings by searching it on search bar and turn it off as it may be disrupting your FPS in games

    6. Go to the Task manager by right-clicking on the taskbar or simply by searching. Next, head to the Startup tab and disable all the unnecessary applications to stop them running when windows starts (IMPORTANT)

    7. Right click on the desktop and select Display settings, Click the Graphics settings present at the bottom and browse into CS2 directory folder until you find "cs2.exe" application(usually present at SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\CSGO OR CS2\game\bin\win64\cs2.exe), then set it to high performance.
    Now head back to the folder where "cs2.exe" is located and right click the "cs2.exe" file then select Properties. Next, click on the Compatibility tab and check the Disable fullscreen optimizations

    8. Uninstall any unnecessary applications such as antivirus(because Microsoft Defender does all the job securing your PC) or bloatware from start menu by right clicking on that application(mostly Microsoft store/pre-installed bloatware is present there) or directly from windows settings(from Apps and features)

    9. Type Privacy settings in the search bar, and uncheck all the privacy options in each tab. -

    And also turn off apps from running in background and app diagnostics

    10. This step would ensure that your current health of windows is alright and running without any errors. If any errors are found, the command would automatically repair them all.
    -Search for Command Prompt and run it as administrator. Next up, type SFC /scannow and wait till its done.If no errors are found then you are good to go, if found, you need to run this command 3 times to fully repair all the errors

    11. If you're running your system or games on a hard-disk drive(HDD), its important to defragment your drive for better stability which might reduce some stutters in game and slightly improve loading time in games. In the search bar type Defragment and optimize drives and select your HDD then optimize. Do make sure that Scheduled optimization is on and the Frequency is set to weekly as shown in the picture (this step is not recommended for SSDS)

    12. Lastly, search Disk cleanup on the search bar, open it then select the disk where windows is installed and click OK. Next, select Clean up system files and tick all the non-essential options which are reserving your storage (Recommended: Defender antivirus, DirectX Shader Cache, Delivery Optimization Files, Device driver packages, Temporary files, and Thumbnails) and click OK and then Delete Files (IMPORTANT)
Step 2: GPU Settings (AMD/NVIDIA)
First of all it is necessary that your GPU is running the latest graphics driver.

SETTINGS FOR AMD GRAPHICS CARD:
  • Go to the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition by right-clicking on the desktop or search in the taskbar. Next, go to Gaming then Graphics tab for setting up the global graphics so that it applies to all of the application/games.
    Select the graphics profile "Performance/HYPR-RX/eSports" whichever available in your driver version.

    After that, apply the settings according to your designated systems;

    Lower to Medium-end systems(older hardware):
    -Disable Anti-lag
    -Disable Vertical Refresh
    -Set Anti-aliasing to use application settings
    -Set Texture Filtering Quality to Performance
    -Enable Surface format optimization

    Medium to Higher-end systems:
    -Enable Anti-lag
    -Disable Vertical Refresh
    -Set Anti-aliasing to use application settings
    -Set Texture Filtering Quality to Standard
    -Disable Surface format optimization

    SETTINGS FOR NVIDIA GRAPHICS CARD:
  • Here's the YouTube video link for the best "NVIDIA GPU settings" shown by a Youtuber "Panjno" where he explained all the steps in a more clear and understandable way, there's nothing more you would need to set up after that in its control panel.
Step 3: Steam Settings
  • Log on to steam and go to steam settings on the top-right corner.

  • Go to the Interface tab and make sure no beta participation is chosen for a stable version of steam. Moreover, Enable smooth scrolling & Enable GPU accelerated rendering should be turned off if steam web is not used for multimedia such as viewing videos.

  • Next in the Library tab, turn on Low Bandwith mode and Low Performance mode. (IMPORTANT)

  • At last, go the Downloads tab, and clear the download cache then restart steam.

    Note: Every steam account has its own/separate steam settings config present on that system so the settings need to be applied each time on different steam accounts or even different computers.
Step 4: CS2 Settings + Launch Options
CS2 Launch Options
To gain the access CS2 launch options, follow these steps:
Go to your Steam Library then Right-click on the Counter-Strike 2 and select Properties.
In the General tab you could see launch options specified. Copy and paste the commands provided below as per your designated systems;

Lower-end systems:
  • -high
  • +fps_max 0 or your monitor's refresh rate
  • -nojoy (if controller is not used when playing CS2)
  • +r_drawparticles 0
  • +r_dynamic 0

    Higher-end systems:
  • -high
  • +fps_max 0

    CS2 In-Game Settings
    Before setting up, it is necessary that you delete your old config which might be created on the time of CSGO and could be reserving your storage with old outdated data (workshop maps).

  • For those who have a PC that can run CS2 well and want a competitive advantage, they could just simply copy video settings of their desired CS pro's. I'm dropping some of the pro's settings below:

  • However, if your PC is really struggling in giving you a playable experience, then you might consider the possible lowest settings for the game to be actually playable. Here are the lowest settings that you should apply(try out FSR if you can play with more degraded quality of the game):

    Quick Tip: Lower the in-game resolution until the game is playable after applying all the settings. Other settings such as brightness would be personal preference and has no effect on game's performance.
Conclusion + Bonus Tips
Here are some bonus tips which also help your PC to gain more FPS in games with improving overall stability and smoothness of the system;
  • Reapply thermal paste on your CPU and GPU(if temps are high), and clean the inside of casing(including motherboard, GPU, ram, etc) to avoid thermal throttling

  • Make sure your system is running on minimum of 16GB RAM with the max frequency supported by your CPU and Motherboard

  • Enable Resizable Bar/Smart Access Memory(SAM) if supported.

  • Close any unnecessary applications running in the background while playing game

  • Overclock your hardware(CPU/GPU) if your system is really struggling to play the game.

  • Make a better airflow inside your casing to further ensure better thermals of your PC(e.g, add more fans or purchase a casing with better airflow)

  • Upgrade to higher read/write speed SSDs and make sure your windows and CS2 must be running on it.

  • Update your BIOS

    These steps really gonna help a lot more on older systems so these are also significant.
    Hope you all succeed in achieving more performance out of your hardware. <3

So each of you must check previous and later FPS if you really wanna use FSR to ensure that its not reducing frames, but remember it comes with a great impact on game's quality.
ShawTy  [yaratıcı] 21 Oca 2024 @ 22:50
I played CS2 with FSR on my older PC from 2014, i didn't find any significant FPS increase, and they only got stable a bit with reduced quality. In my opinion, it could be an issue with the older GPUs, but i believe it would be fixed and improved by the time.
asdfjkasfhjk 21 Oca 2024 @ 14:43
So it is possible, and actually is the case with cs2 on average, especially older graphics cards, like the one I had, fps went from 60 to 55 using fsr while decreasing visuals and resolution.
ShawTy  [yaratıcı] 21 Oca 2024 @ 12:47
Actually no, the point of FSR is to make games less taxing to run and increase FPS. However, i think CS2 is currently in it's early stages so FSR has to be updated to work more efficiently, but still it does increase fps but not reduce.
Survivor 21 Oca 2024 @ 12:26
bro it is possible that the game goes worser in fps with fsr than without it?
