By Bagheera Magaro

How to Do the Thing
1. Go to the "Select Game" Menu
2. Select a Game
3. In what I'll call the "Before Starting the Game" Menu, go to "Display Settings". (You can also access this in the pause menu during a game.)
4. Go to the "Frame" Setting". Change it to "2D" (You can also change it to "All" but you have to remember to press "A" (on a controller) and change the setting to one of the purple wallpaper looking things.)
5. Go to "Display Size". You can experiment with this, but I suggest setting it to "Normal".
6. Go to "Display Filter". This is also a bit of a personal choice, but let me assure you that you can get a setting that makes the game look like a game and not a simulation of one. So far, I've favored Type B, but I'm not overly choosy nor a purist. You pick what you like, okay?
7. At this point, you could pick a wallpaper or not. I did because it helps me see where the game borders are.
8. You can either "Apply to All games" by hitting "Z" on your keyboard or "X" on your controller. (Depending on your controller). Or you can hit "back", which (confusingly) will give you a prompt asking if you want to save your settings (instead of just cancelling changes).
9. After you save your changes, you can additionally back out of the game to the "Title Screen" (Press "B" on your controller ("C" on your Keyboard) until you're looking at your row of machines, then press "X" on your controller or "Z" on your Keyboard. Yeah, gonna take points off my review for that bit of UX/GUI nonsense, honestly.) and select Quit, because that's the most guaranteed way to ensure your settings actually get properly saved. (I do this because the game seems to occasionally hard freeze on my comp. Just a bit of insurance.)
Why I Made This
I made this guide because, while these are good games and a pretty good emulation of them, the way to actually get them to look like how you'd play normal games is not only buried, but it isn't even the default setting. Which is not good, and seems to have confused/angered rather a lot of people. Who then proceeded to give the Stadium a negative review, even though a lot of their frustrations seem to have been addressed. And since not everyone has the patience to dig through settings, I thought I'd write up the answer so they can just get to enjoying their game. So, enjoy!

Also, I realized that I hadn't written a version of this guide for the 2nd Stadium and, since there was a non-zero chance that some people might start with the 2nd Stadium (instead of the 1st like I did), I should make a copy of the guide for the 2nd Stadium as well. (I copied the text, but the pictures are new even tho they didn't have to be.) Sorry it took so long.
