Hello, this guide will help you out in making Black Mesa work in Synergy. First, I will tell you how to mount Black Mesa in Synergy. Second, I will tell you how to make a Unofficial Synergy Black Mesa Server.

How To: Include Black Mesa in Game

Synergy Now has an New Automatic Mounting System

To Mount Black Mesa in Synergy, just install Black Mesa From Steam and run it once.

How To: Make a Synergy Black Mesa Server

1. Download and Install Black Mesa from Steam: Black Mesa - Steam Store
   
2. If you are using SteamCMD, the AppID of Black Mesa is 362890
   
3. Your Synergy Server Directory should look like this:
   

   common/Black Mesa
   common/Half-Life 2
   common/Synergy
   

4. Download the Unofficial Edts*: GitHub[github.com]
   
5. In the common/Synergy/synergy/custom folder, make a new folder called BMS. In that folder, make a folder named maps.
   
6. Copy the .edt and .inc files into the maps folder.
   
7. Run The Server with the startup map set to d1_trainstation_01
   
8. When the Server is loaded, run the command:
   

   changelevel "blackmesa" "bm_c0a0a"
   

Bugs/Warnings

Bugs:

1. No Sound (Only Ambient Sound)*
   
2. HL2 Player Models*
   
3. No AI (The NPC's might randomly die :P)*
   
4. No mapchange after tram ride has finised on bm_c0a3a.

WARNING: The .edt files are unofficial and are buggy. I have put them on GitHub so anyone can contribute to make them better! But, I am not respnsible if you mess up your copy of Synergy and/or your Synergy server.

I'm trying to play Black Mesa in a local server with my brother, and we've both run the steam version of Black Mesa, but we've tried every branch of Synergy except for the Twitch branch (for obvious reasons) and none of them work.

Yeah I recommend using Balimbanana's guide, the Steam version doesn't work properly because it requires custom sound files, which Synergy doesn't have installed, and the HL2 player models don't work because, again custom models that Synergy doesn't have installed. The two I don't know why occur are the NPC's dieing and the tramride issue. The reason why Balimbanana's guide works is because it is using the original Beta BM mod, his install tool automatically installs a smaller copy of the mod which contains the sounds, models, and other essentals.

Because it would give you access to Black Mesa maps/levels, if Synergy was able to mount the Steam version.
