"Allosaurus! The Lion of the Morrison, as the cliche would go. This was the template for nearly every large theropod dinosaur: A large, hatchet-shaped head with dozens of razor sharp teeth. A pair of grippng hooks to butcher prey once subdued -- or not.

"It had a rather unique feature among large carnivores - it had a notch in its upper jaw that allowed it to open its mouth wider than most other theropod dinosaurs. This made it easier for it to take bites out of much larger prey, or even swallow them whole if they were small enough."
