This is an updated version of Koni's "Cultural Armies Pack"

This is the original mod updated for use in 1.12 with some better compatiblity with multiple mods. Once, Koni returns and updates the original mod, this will likely be removed.

NEW ART for Cultural Armies by jimmywhite
*Game Rule to turn on/off access to vanilla army units. (With Gamerule Gadget compatibility)

Description
This mod brings more than 200 ARTS for all MAA from "Cultural Armies Pack" mod. Not even all of them are on screenshots here.
Each illustration was carefully redesigned and scaled to fit better CK3 aesthetics and not to hurt your eyes with stretched pixelated arts.
I hope now Konis brilliant mod gets art that it deserves. Enjoy!
I used pictures found elsewhere, I do not pretend to be their author mostly. All original arts belong to their creators. Most arts were additionaly adjusted with AI art to achieve the style similarity.

The load order is changed as this other mods should be allowed to overwrite these without issue.

I recommend placing this before any mods which alter culture files as scripting should allow this mods affects to take hold regardless of load order. This mod should before Cultures Expanded or More Bookmarks but I recommend after RICE, Muslim Enhancements and Africa Plus if you are using those.

*If there are issues, please note in the discussion and I will try to correct them if and when I can.

No offense, but I’m not going to get into the localization debate. It’s easy to do and you can do it yourself. I do myself in some cases based on my opinion. (My game, my names lol)

The commentaries on the original version were riddled with suggestions about names that often devolved into arguments and when you’re dealing with region of diverse and variable cultures, and one I admittedly know relatively little about. I’m staying out of it.

@cuomo860 It's great to see that you keep the mod updated ! I would like to add a suggestion though about the names of Polish and Polabian (and others in that area) units - that would be changing the name of Lekkohota to Woje (which is an old polish/slavic name for warriors and it would fit for light infantry of that age) and also the name of Starsza Drużyna to Pancerni - it's a historical name for heavy cavalry units of early middle-ages.

@cuomo860 that clarifies this fully - I had noticed myriad duplication problems when I used to assemble my own playset, prior to finding the gambo super compatch a few weeks ago, and found it annoying and messy. I have checked the usual suspects for duplication problems using super compatch and as you say, that problem is indeed removed (note for others: turn vanilla units off in game rules for cleanest experience). Fwiw I think some of the cultural units eliminated by this are not actually present in CAR, but I'm guessing the author had rationale for those decisions (perhaps they were anachronistic or otherwise unsuitable). I'm going to roll with this as it is, and I appreciate you and @Essence taking the time to reply to me.

@ck3user7748 @Essence. I believe you are right on that part, however, I think ck3user7748 is using the right load order. Koni did some odd things with this mod so it has some quirks I've been hammering out but yes, the main issue is that many MAAs from other mods are removed or they will be duplicated. There are some fixes I can make but it's for the most part intentional. For example "norman_knight" from this mod replaces "norman_knights" and access is besed on culture and not innovation. I can add the innovation and change the localization so it says Norman Knights on the innovation but it does the same thing.

The "Can Recruit 'empty' as men at arms" is because you have this mod loaded after CE/MB+.
Load order should be Rice -- CAR -- CE -- MB+ (with acompanying patches according to their load order, none of them touch men at arms from what i saw).

This does mean quite a few units will have icons from CE/MB+, and not the new icons from CAR. If you place CAR after CE/MB+, you will get new icons, but some MAA will be missing from respective traditions etc. Should also be noted, some MAA are intentionally removed, etc for duplicative reasons. Bulgarians have 2 Konniks for example, many units overlap with 1 doing the same, just being better and stuff like that.

I believe this is because the author has the Famiglia set up as 75 troops instead of 50. As to why this choice was made, I am unsure, but it was intentional and these cavalry function fine at lower stats due to the higher number of troops per regiment.

None of the CE (or perhaps RICE?) cultural units that come via tradition are enabled, e.g.:

white huns tradition - 'can recruit as men at arms' (MAA name omitted and not available)
chichiquitzo (guanche) tradition ' ran recruit as men at arms'
blood of the north - ' can recruit as men at arms'

base game MAA's via cultural tradition are working as intended, such as Coastal Warriors and Hirds.

I am not sure this is the correct mod to be raising this issue with so please bear with me if I have this wrong. Thank you for all you do for the community, this mod is fantastic, so please don't read this as a complaint, I am just raising the issue for awareness.
