How to explode

Have you ever wanted to explode on command? This guide will tell you how.

Why would you want to explode on command?

Exploding on command can be used as a alternative to the normal suicide by changing class. It can be used to escape sticky situations, or just to mess around.

Opening the Console

In order to bind a key to make yourself explode, you need to first bring up the console.

First you must open the "Options" tab on the main menu.




Now you must click "Advanced" on the bottom of the box and check the "Enable Developer Console" box, and hit Apply.




Now, if you press the "Tilde" key (The button on the left of the "1" key), a box should appear.



You now have the console open.

Binding a key to a command

To bind a key, you must write the bind command into the console.

If you where to bind a key (let's say the P key), you would write into the console:

bind p

Now, we put the command we want P to execute in quotes like so:

bind p "explode"




Now, press Enter. The P key will now execute the command "explode" when pressed. This can be used in other instances, for example, you can make the letter I execute the command to write something in chat, which is "say". If you were to write into the console, bind i "say Hello", the letter I would write "Hello" into the chat.

Now, once all that's done, press the key that makes you explode.

So im not sure what the setting is. I believe mastercomfig might have documentation on the setting somewhere. But im pretty sure via a simple console command, or by tweaking your graphical settings you can fix it not exploding and just killing you instead.

However there will still be cases where you wont gib and itll just kill you, typically on servers that need to be restarted i believe.

So to anyone reading try tweaking your graphical settings or looking for the reference somewhere in mastercomfigs documentation on the mastercomfig website.
Alternatively i believe restarting the game will also fix it if normally you gib but randomly you start not gibbing.
