Quick Tips for MWD cruisers
Off the top of my head:

  • Most waves are harmless, despite what people try to tell you on the net.
The only ones that can actually harm and kill you if you don't pay attention are:
    - Leshak wave
    - Karybdis wave
    - Angel wave
    - Concord/Edencom (only Marshals)

Other waves can be a fight against time, like the drone mothership that takes a lot of time to kill. But they cannot kill you unless you really really f*ck up big time. No, not even when they spawn unluckily in a cloud or near a tracking tower can they kill you.

That said, stay >22km away from Vedmaks, if not possible focus them down.
Stay some distance away from Tesseras (Battlecruiser) too.
Honestly though, even if you mess up these guys will put some pressure on you but no kill potential.

  • To deal with the 4 dangerous waves:
Leshaks: immediately (!) upon spawning, MWD straight at them. Focus down in this order: Renewing -> Starving -> rest, then the support ships. Starving Leshak will probably eat your neut before you can land your 2nd or 3rd MWD but that's fine, all you need is to be in range so that your weapons/drones can finishe them. Leshaks start heavily damaged so killing them is the only priority.
If you follow this approach, the wave becomes a joke.

Angel: These douchebags are so incredibly fast you cannot escape with MWD. They will be on top of you in a few seconds anyway. The sheer number of ships and their damage type means you will eat a lot of damage.
To deal with them, ALWAYS focus elite Cynabals first, put your firepower on them.
Next, kill the regular Cynabals, followed by the Elite frigs.
When the Elite Cynabals are down you should already be safe, the remaining incoming DPS is not enough to hurt you too much.

CONCORD: Focus Marshals first, ALWAYS first, after that the wave becomes a joke. Marshal should go down like this: Neuter -> Arrester -> rest.

Karybdis: Ah, the infamous Karen wave. This battleship hits like a truck and WILL break your defenses eventually unless you do the one thing to save you: MWD at it at a slight angle (~30° should do the trick). This way Karen will miss a few shots while you get near. Once you are below ~20 km, her bad tracking speed means she has trouble hitting you at all.
Problem is, she is always accompanied by plenty of Scyllas that will shut down your MWD, Entangle and/or neut.
ALWAYS MWD-approach until you are near her. Then:
Either kill Scylla neuters and Scramblers first, which means you can MWD around Karen and the fight becomes a joke (though a tedious one because while you kill the support, she will heal up). This is the only approach for active tanks.
OR focus completely on Karen which is a bit riskier but makes use of her pre-damaged state. In this scenario you WILL end up without MWD or active tank so it's only feasible for passive shield tanks. DON'T TRY THIS AS ACTIVE TANKER!
You can ignore entangling and any other scylla (and all other supports anyway) that is not neuter or scrambler until Karen is dead.

  • The first 3 seconds after spawning are the most important. You screw up here and you're truly screwed. MWD away from Karen/Leshak, you're screwed. MWD too near Tesseras (huge DPS) and you're screwed. Don't pay attention to clouds, you may be screwed, e. g. MWD through a speed cloud and get killed by THE WALL.
In these seconds, you identify the wave you deal with (1 sec), set movement in the right direction and turn on your MWD/tank (2 sec), then prepare your drones (you fly Gila, dont you?) or weapons (3 sec).

  • The 3 dangerous waves I explained.
AFTER (!!!) dealing with their top priorities as described above and for any other wave, the rest goes like this:
Scramblers = Neuters > Entanglers > Weapon disrupters > Target Painters > rest.

Drone mothership is the same approach as Karen, go near, circle it but kill supports first, especially repair ships.

  • Automata suppressors ONLY work on DRONE frigs, NOT Triglavian or other frigs. They are a great way to deal with huge number of drone frigs you can save some timer.

  • Blue clouds help hitting small stuff while speed clouds are dangerous when you MWD through them into the wall.

  • T3 is good for training a bit, T4 is good for semi-serious business. Do both at least a couple dozen times until you have learned BY HEART every possible wave and what to do. You will also get a good feeling about whether you can spare time to kill extra cans or not.
Generally, Karen and Drone Mothership waves take longest while Leshaks and drone frigs using a automata suppressor can be over in less than 2 minutes.
