Metro 2033 Setup Guide for Windows 10/11

This guide should help to get your Metro 2033 running properly in Windows 10 and 11.

Setup

Step One:
Install the DirectX9 Final Release.
Follow the video to download and install DirectX 9 on your operating system.

This will add additional DirectX support files to your PC.

Step Two:
Setup Your ingame GPU in Windows Settings.

Click the Start Button and select the Gear Icon for Windows Settings
In the search bar type the following, Graphics Settings

Select Graphics Settings to bring up your Graphics settings screen.

Now click the Browse Button and Browse to the game folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Metro 2033 Redux
Select the metro.exe and add it.

Once Added it will be listed under the Browse Button
Select Options and set it to the GPU you want to use.
High Performance preferred and Save.
Close Windows Settings.

Step Three:
Add support Files.

Goto C:\Windows\SysWOW64
Copy the d3d11.dll and d3d11on12.dll
(Copy/Paste - Do Not Move the original files)

Then paste them into the game folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Metro 2033 Redux
.

Step Four:

While the game folder is open, Select the "metro.exe"
Right click and select Properties

Goto the Compatibility Tab
Set to run in Windows 8 Compatibility and set to run as Admin
Save and Exit

Close your folders then start the game and test to see that it is working.

Optional step:
To improve graphics try adding Reshade with SweetFX
