How to host multiplayer

This guide includes the basics that you need to know in order to host. Port forwarding guides can be found all over the internet and is not the purpose of this guide. However if you need to port forward I recommend beginners use this[portforward.com]website. When you must select a game to learn to port forward you will be selecting "Half Life 2 Steam Server". Follow all instructions on the website and read everything you see.

Change/Start Arcade

You will automatically arrive in your room. You will press the "Esc" key to open this menu, and click "Change Arcade" or "Start Arcade" if at the main menu.

Using the console.

Now you will arrive at the "Arcade Selection". You then will click the checkbox that says, "Multiplayer Server" at the top right. You will receive a warning prompt and you must click "OK". You then can enter information and choose the arcade you wish. Make sure you uncheck "LAN Only" if you want people that are not connected to your LAN directly to join.

Have fun!

You now should arrive in game! A quick test of middle mouse button will show you cannot place in multiplayer. People will most likely start joining before you can move 10 steps!

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my version of the game is different
when i press ESC it doesn't do the regular source puase menu thing, it brings me to an entirely different screen.
also pressing play > custom game > [map] > then i select the buttom that sais multiplayer which is underneath single player.
