How to access camera
Option 1:
  • Open radial menu
  • Tools
  • Camera

Option 2:
  • Open your big menu
  • Click on the camera icon
  • The big menu has options for all cameras.
The different cameras
Photo Camera:
This is the regular camera to take pictures.

Multilayer camera:
Takes several pictures quickly. This does not allow you to take pictures with focus or filters. It also causes heavy frame lag.

Stream Camera:
This is the camera you’d use to stream or record your view instead of recording what you’re seeing directly through your headset.
UI Within Camera
The X in the top left is to exit out of the camera.

The camera and photo refers to which camera is active.
The camera within the pin refers to what “pin” is active. I’ll discuss this later within the guide.
The focus refers to if you have focus on and if so what focus you’ve selected.
The two circles refer to whether you have a filter on and if so what filter you’ve selected.

The circle turning on top refers to whether the camera is facing away or towards you. In VR you can physically grab and turn your camera around.

The turning on the right will reset the amount of zoom you’ve used.
The line on the right refers to zoom, down means zooming out to a more fisheye lens and zooming in well zooms in.
Camera menues

Picture above is to show you what the UI and options look like.

Take photo will take a photo as soon as you click it.
If you’re in VR and holding the camera you can take a picture with the trigger button.
Timed (5s) will take a photo 5 seconds after you’ve clicked the button.
The timed version will make a countdown sound each second.
Both will make a shutter sound when you take the picture.

Camera mode refers to the different camera modes you can use.

Anchor refers to where the camera is “attached”.
  • Default will just be where you place it but “attached” to you.
  • Local will follow where you’re moving but not your head movement.
  • World attaches the camera to the world regardless of where you walk within the world.

Behavior is the way the camera will “perform”.
  • Smoothed will make the video smoother and not as “jagged”. Kind of like using a camera stabilizer.
  • Look at me will have the camera follow where your head is faced.
  • Auto level will make the camera be completely 90% and not allow you to tilt it.

Focus will be what subject within a certain radius will be in focus.
  • Full Auto will automatically set the aperture and focal distance. You can select a subject to focus on but the camera will adjust it for you.
  • Semi Auto allows you to adjust the Aperture but not not the focal distance.
  • Manual allows you to adjust the Aperture and the focal distance.

Pins refer to saved “settings”. So if you have certain Focus and Filter settings you can save that within the pins.

Mask refers to what is included within the pictures.
  • Local user refers to you and your playermodels
  • Remote user refers to other players.
  • Environment refers to the actual map.
  • Green screen replaces the environment with a green screen.
  • UI refers to things such as your radial menu and even the camera.

Lens Visibility refers to how your camera is displayed.
  • Off will only show a small little light.
  • Ghost will make it a light blue transparent camera.
  • Solid makes it a solid whole camera.

Filters will add active filters to your camera.
You can only have 1 filter active at a time.

Photo resolution refers to how large the photo is so how many pixels it is. The more pixels the prettier it is but can cause frame lag. It will also make the file size a lot bigger.
VRChat Camera Alternatives/Additives
All of these camera's need to be added into the avatar when you upload it.

VRCLens
★ VRCLens by Hirabiki
This is a more advanced camera you can use within VRC. It has options you'd see on an actual camera.

VirtualLens2
https://booth.pm/zh-tw/items/2280136
This is also another more advanced camera system. To me it looks a little simpler than VRCLens but i have not tried either.

Camera Orbit System
★ COS by YerGodDamnRight (GD, YGDR)
This is a more advanced video recorder, it's more suitable if you're a content creator.

Camera Path
★ Camera Path: VRChat Camera Addon for VR and Desktop
With this you can set up a path that the default VRChat camera can float on. Like a rail that the camera can follow. It has different settings for it. Great if you're a content creator!

Rotating Camera [VRChat]
https://booth.pm/en/items/5927693
I believe this will allow you to have a rotating camera with a selfie light. Perfect for taking pictures or video for social media. I believe the rig around will be hidden but I am not 100% sure.
