Works for all languages.

This mod, DRN, formerly "Stop Helping Me", makes it so If one wished to effectively recapture land they would need to go on the offensive.

Back in 1.5.9, there was an issue with weak allies aggressively losing offensive battles, and in the process forfeit all the progress that front might have had, this mod was originally made to deal with that.

in 1.5.10, Paradox has implemented mechanics to alleviate the problem of weak allies losing occupation, however defensive recaptures being as powerful as offensive captures is still questionable, and apparently, despite paradox's efforts on dealing with the 1.5.9 issue, many believe that this tweak is still needed. So it will remain.

Paradox tried to deal with the issue again with 1.6. Time will tell if it worked, but I maintain this nerf is sensible, so it will remain. Paradox also halfway adopted this mod in 1.8, but they only nerfed defensive recapture by a factor of 2 instead of a factor of 10.

Which made it VERY hard to track down.

Oh, and the error persists in a savegame even after the mod has been removed.

This breaks combat.
I just came over from pulling it kicking and screaming out of a modpack and isolated this as the issue.
Battles and naval battles will not initiate. Based on the description of naval invasion in particular, it looks like this mod prevents the game from seeing the advance and interception command modes, or indeed ANY command mode, as a means to advance a frontline's progress bar and iniate battles.

And this goes for the AI too.

Fair enough. It certainly works fine most places, I just did a lot of weird corners of the world in a row lately I guess.

@MasterOfGrey
probably not, last time when i asked around if i should nerf this the consensus is pretty overwhelmingly "no"

Would you consider toning down the defensive recapture nerf to a factor of only 5 or 6?

I've actually gone back to not using this because I find that when the combat AI randomly drops 85% of an army into a fight to defend a small battle, particularly on fronts with large states and low infra, the 10x tends to mean you quickly lose ground in messy ways that aren't readily reclaimed. (Think Amazonas being captured from Guyana before more logical coastal states, or fronts fracturing around unexpectedly durable partial occupations in Darfur.)
