Introduction.
Hello everyone. Today I will be providing a download link to a music mod of my own making that will fit the general time period of Grand Theft Auto IV. As a 2000s-era kid, I grew up listening to a lot of songs of the early and late 2000s era. Whilst today I listen to a ton of different music from many eras, I still have the highest regard and respect for the music that shaped my childhood.

With the Definitive Edition of GTA IV. We have a custom radio station called "Independence FM" which is essentially our own custom radio where WE can add the music. A great feature is the ability to turn it into an actual radio with your own Radio Host and AD breaks further enhancing the "Immersion"

Grand Theft Auto IV is said to take place in the year 2008 so with careful picking I managed to make a music playlist of various songs. You have a grand total of 100 different songs that played on the radio during the 2000s. The oldest song is from 1999 and the vast majority are from 2008 and before with a select few being from 2009 since it would be criminal to leave them out. Consider this a little bit of an anachronistic move but one that isn't entirely immersion-breaking. Don't expect music from 2023 lol.

With this music, you will feel like you got transported to the late 2000s New York City! With some immersion mods that turn Liberty City into the real New York City, you will at times forget about the game and just spend your time driving around the city listening to the radio host, adverts, and incredible music. :b1:
Download & Install
Step 1: To download the playlist mod, first head over to my Google Drive and download the RAR file.

Download[drive.google.com]

Step 2: Once you're done with that, unpack it and get ready to move the .MP3 files.

Step 3: Head over to this directory, C:\Users\YourName\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\User Music

Step 4: Drop all of the MP3 files in this folder and then boot up the game.

Step 5: Once you're in the menu, head over to the settings and go to audio. First, click "Auto Scan" then "Quick Scan", and finally press "Complete Scan" and wait for all of the MP3 files to be scanned, should take about a minute.

Step 6: To get the radio host and ad breaks to work, make sure your Independence FM mode is set to "Radio"

Once you're done with all of that then that is it. You successfully got the playlist working and you can now take in the views of NYC whilst listening to period-accurate music on the radio.
Recommended Optional Mods
I highly recommend the Immersive NY mod for your game. This mod will help transform your GTA IV NYC knockoff into the real NYC. Real-life adverts, real NYC street names, real-life NYC neighborhoods, etc:

Final Notes
By all means the choice is yours. Use this music mod or not, the choice is up to you. I wasn't originally planning on sharing this, I finished GTA 4 back in 2021 and uninstalled it afterward, it just hit me a few days ago that "Hey maybe people would like access to the same music I was using on the radio when I was playing?" - "Perhaps the people don't have the patience to look for the music of that period or don't know where to look."

Like I mentioned I didn't add any post-2008 songs except for a few that came out in 2009. But should people request it, I will make an updated file that will add music from 2010 as well.

But for now, enjoy exploring New York City (Liberty City...) in all its style!

I actually removed the metadata from the original files because I didn't want to put spoilers in what songs were chosen :P
