(Credit to Graaa from this discontinued FM15 mod: http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/395969-FM15-USA-World-Class-MLS-(8-levels) - I tweaked his database in FM15 for my personal use, and when he decided not to take it to FM16 he graciously gave permission for others to use his work, so I've separated out the continental tournament changes, both his and mine, and updated them for FM ever since.

This database mod replaces all club continental competitions and the Club World Cup with three worldwide club tournaments. All domestic leagues are left untouched and will run alongside the intercontinental tournaments: fancy midweek trips to Argentina to play Boca? I BET YOU DO.

The FIFA Champions League and World League are senior-level tournaments that mostly work how you expect: Champions League has better competition and better payouts (though the difference between the two isn't as derisory as in real life), finish high enough in your domestic league or win your major domestic cup and you get a ticket (if your league of choice doesn't use a single table or has some other continental qualification shenanigans, it SHOULD work properly depending on how SI or your database modder of choice coded that specific league, but I can't be certain.) There are qualifiers, and a group stage, and a knockout stage, and Big Fancy Neutral Site Finals. There is also a FIFA Youth League that uses a similar format and replaces the Viareggio Tournament or whatever it is called for people that aren't using the Real Name fixes.

Known Issues

Canadian MLS teams apparently do not have a path to this competition, since Canada's domestic cup is not considered a "national domestic cup" by the game, and they do not play in the CPL so are not picked for those spots either. To fix this, please use this compatibility patch.

I haven't played in a while but I don't see why it shouldn't work, there haven't been any patches since I played

@yikes_04: It _should_ be pretty easy to just run the two files alongside each other? If you have a specific weird order you want your custom league to qualify teams to the world CL in, you'd have to set that up in your league DB in the advanced editor ( the nation's advanced rules in the top division under Other Stage Rules->Continental Cup Rules). Otherwise they should work fine together unless you're doing something that takes up a lot more schedule space than usual..

Hey, fantastic work on this. I am trying to do something similar to @Junior :). I want to make this work in the 10 (?) tier USA pro/rel save I've been doing as my only hang-up about that save is not being able to take a team to the very pinnacle of world football where I can challenge myself against the very best teams (i.e, the champions league.) I really don't know where to start though--the league has opening and closing stages as well as east and west conferences, so I imagine that would only make it's implementation more complicated. Would it be easy to make these work together? Time-consuming? Totally impossible? I really don't know what I'm getting myself into here.

hey man nice mod im using it for quite some time now, trying to recreate that same thing for my new 8-tier usa mod but im having some trouble. Could you help me out?

@Hidden: I've just uploaded a bug fix update for a couple of issues reported here and in the SI thread:

-Central American/Caribbean teams should no longer delay the qualifying rounds into October
-World League squad registration in September should now work properly and send notifications to group stage teams (both the CL playoff losers and the qualifying path winners)

Works great for me, however me and the AI are unable to register players on the group phase. The registration date shows on the calandar but does give you a notification to register. Not an issue in qualification or knock outs (same issue persistent across 2 seasons)

If it isn't n in the DB files it's because Steam hasn't downloaded it properly, try to unsubscribe and resubscribe - or alternatively download it from the SI forums thread (the link in the description above)

I've read that any edit that changes the base game continental competitions freezes league reputations, unfortunately. I'm not sure why but I don't have any tools to change it, that's something SI would have to fix.
