Description
Whether you're Dawi, Dwarven, Dwarfen, or even Duardin - all Stoutfolk will enjoy this new EU4 experience.

If you ever thought that you wanted to be a Dwarven city-state in the HRE, or maybe a grand empire in the Himalayas this is the mod for you. Maybe you want to be a mutant offshoot in the Fallout universe, show those Dwemer what real Dwarves are in the Elder Scrolls, and tell those Al-Dwarov Dwarves that you don't need their mountains in Anbennar. We all enjoy some Dwarfy homebrew around here.

"Dwarfs... I've had enough of their stunted forms and undeserved pride!"
- Some Zangunaz wazzock

This is a simple mod that adds three cultures of Dwarves to the game (Meant to be used with Custom Nations), each with their own modifiers - and some more enjoying of water than others. I am open to any suggestions and have plenty of ideas to add to the mod when I have the time - such as governments, traditions, and possible some generic formables for all your under-earth needs. And best of all, it should be compatible with every mod there is.

The three cultures go as follows:
  • The progressive Flatlander Dwarfs
"Us Flatlanders? Some of the deeply tradition sort in the mountains wouldn't even consider us Dwarven - just heavy, stunted manlings. Ha! I wouldn't put stock in the mountain goats. We may not be as bound up in tradition, but we're hardy as iron and steel stiffens our bones. We don't need the mountains and their ore veins, we are true born traders and smiths all the same - mankind is more than willing to spend a fortune for our goods. And, if it's all the same to you, I think humans can be as upright a folk as any Stoutkin! We can teach them our ways, uplift them, and most of all, teach 'em to brew something worth drinking."

Masters of trade and open-minded in diplomacy, they are very willing to live and fight alongside mankind (or others, if around) and specialise in tearing down the shoddy castles of their foes. They embrace the sea, the open earth, and still share their affinity for the mountains. They make good friends and better mentors - but tend to have it out with their stubborn mountain cousins.

  • The adaptive Hill Dwarfs
"Aye, we hail from the hills and high valleys. We trade with Man and Dwarf alike, alliances and deals are to be held true, beard or not. The Flatlanders are more than eager to live side-by-side humans, even emulating them after years of 'manification', and the Mountain Kin are a stubborn and unforgiving bunch who are slow to move past grievances made long ago. However, all are honourable kin and stick to their oaths, this is what makes us all Dwarfs, Dwarves, and Stouts. We're no stranger to ranging outside the mountains, created fortresses on the plains, or forging our own holds deep in the rugged rock. We adapt, overcome, and endure. This is our way."

Adaptive, hardy, and neutral - these Dwarves venture from their mountain homes, bearing the knowledge of their ancestors close, until they find new lands defensible and rich. They are spared most prejudice from either cousin, and maintain a fair mantle on the balance of tradition and innovation. They are able smiths and warriors, some Hill Dwarf realms letting their armies be used as mercenaries for those deserving and willing to pay their price.

  • The enduring Mountain Dwarfs
"We were born from stone, our ancient halls dominating the under-earth with plentiful ores, masterwork weapons, armour, and stone alike creating wealth a plenty. The foolish clans who venture far and wide, forgoing the safety of our ancestral homeland for trading with the peoples of the surface. Ha! Some even take their names, worship their gods, and wear their silly hats. Manlings have attacked us throughout all mortal history, they broke their primitive weapons on our steel hide and grit, making swift retreat on their lanky legs, pride shattered. Yet, I admit some can be tolerated for a time, they pay good gold and sometimes offer their warriors to our cause - but I couldn't imagine stomaching their weak ale and bare chins for all my life."

Fixated on tradition, these are the rugged and mighty Dwarven realms that dominate their ancient mountain homes. All Dwarfs once came from these lands - and the Mountain Kin remember this always. They can be seen as quite regressive and isolationist, but are firm friends and oath-keepers whenever great effort is made to befriend them. Though all Dwarves are warriors, smiths, and architects - it's hard to beat the ones who've been doing it for eons.
